Campground itself is great and the hosts are great. However, the phone # on the web site is invalid and there is a glorious lack of detail about policies on the web site. Calling Recreation.gov is no help because they only know what's on the web site. Ranger stations couldn't help, either. I posted the official rules in the photos area, but here are some details not found on the site. First car is included in the site fee, even though the web site lets you select 2 cars. The 2nd car has a fee, which is $8 per day. The vehicle pass for camping will be on the post at your campsite and you'll need to either go find the host or be there when they come around to get the extra pass. If you have more than 2 vehicles, then it just depends on the site; if you can park it and not be sticking out in the road, then they're ok with it; you just need another vehicle pass for it. Also, the vehicle pass for campers is also good for the...
Read moreThis is a nice NFS campground. Vault toilets are clean and plentiful. Campsites are large with partial shade. You can see many, many little frogs by the lake and the lake seemed to be a popular spot both for families with children and folks in kayaks or SUPs. We got a first come, first served spot after discovering there were none available at nearby Trillium Lake. The campground has water pumps rather than water faucets and these require a good amount of upper body strength. The hosts were off when we arrived but there was an honor system to get firewood at $7 per bundle. Unfortunately, we got no sleep whatsoever. The campground is quite close to highway 26 and traffic, including noisy trucks rumbled by all hours of the night. There wasn't even a break at 3 a.m. We went back and scoped out Trillium Lake campground which is quite a ways further from the highway. We couldn't get reservations for another month and now...
Read moreWe camped at frog lake for first time for 3 nights in mid August (last year we only got to use day area, that’s why we decided to try camping following year). Unfortunately this is the season of fire ban. Easy to navigate to from Hwy 26. Road is very bumpy. Our site was #21 which was pretty good, has direct path to the lake, many trees to hang hammocks . Bathrooms are super clean and well maintained. This campground has well water that you need to manually pump. Couple points about the water, it’s hard to pump it, need to have several pump attempts before water starts flowing, well by site #21 has non-clear water and I had doubts about using it (see picture). I was getting ready to go to closest grocery store to buy water but noticed the well by hosts site produces crystal clean water. Keep that in mind. VERY IMPORTANT: if you are a light sleeper, take earplugs, hwy26 traffic will...
