Absolutely terrible stay! Construction, that was not mentioned to us when we made the reservation, was going on inside the hotel. Jack hammers were going off directly above our room the first morning. The second day we came back to a flooded room. There was a water leak from whatever they had been doing directly above us. Water was dripping from the light fixtures and the exhaust fan in the bathroom. Our bed was soaked from the leak, and since my suitcase had been left open on the bed my clothes were all wet. The front desk did apologize and moved us to another room, but offered no assistance about the wet clothes which I did make a point to let the front desk know about. We were moved from a handicap accessible room to a regular room that we did agree we could manage. The following morning there was a note left under our door asking us to come down to the front desk by 11am so they could move us yet again! Apparently they were 'overbooked', and again, no one told us we would need to relocate a 3rd time in as many days! Had we known this we could have made other arrangements. As it was, we had to cancel our plans that we had previously booked for the afternoon. We were offered 'points' for our next stay as our only compensation because corporate would have to approve anything else. By this time we had had it and asked to be checked out. We did receive a txt message after we got back home that they would credit us for one night . I don't think they were as accommodating as they should have been. We had to move 3 times due to the poor planning on their part. Not to mention we had to cancel reservations that were non refundable due to not letting us know on the first move that it was only for the night & we had to be out of the 'temporary' room by 11am. I had to dry everything in my suitcase before I could repack. We...
Read moreI checked in at this property at about 4 pm for a one night visit, it is very well-kept and has a “different” exterior color scheme than most Holiday Inn’s. It is situated on a parcel right behind a Denny’s which is 24 hours and a short walk across the parking lot. When I checked in I was promptly greeted by the front desk agent & manager. Due to me being an IHG rewards member they upgraded me from a standard king room to a suite and gave me a coupon for a free snack and drink from the express mart in the lobby. It includes a variety of candy, chips, and drinks which are available for purchase 24/7. |||| At the time of my visit the hotel was under renovations, as informed by a sign in the lobby; as well as being told at check in that the pool was under renovation. This particular property is 3-stories and I was given the choice at check in to be on the second or third floor. I chose the top floor which I normally request every visit. The room was spacious and clean, since I was upgraded to a complimentary suite I had a small “living area” with a desk and pull-out sofa. |||| My room was very clean and everything worked as expected. There are a variety of different restaurants in addition to the Denny’s across the parking lot within a short driving distance as well as dollar and convenience stores. There is a hot breakfast available at 6-9 in the morning which, I chose not to utilize; rather the Denny’s. However, I would imagine it includes the standard pancake machine, cereal, scrambled eggs, etc. |||| I was also granted a late check-out, however only for an additional hour, which was fine. Overall, I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area if I ever find myself needing a hotel in Sebring or the surrounding areas I will...
Read moreThe staff was friendly, the hotel and room were very clean and the bedding was comfortable with a variety of softness for pillow choices in the room.
The breakfast could be improved and open longer for guests using the late checkout option of 1:00 pm. Breakfast closed at 10:00 or 10:30 am but was too early for me because of getting in the room very late. My late checkout allowed me to go back to bed to get some more rest before my drive home. The lady closed and locked the door precisely at the closing time and I heard a lot of people trying to open the door to get some food. I understand the reason to lock the door but the lady didn't clean up anything right away. In fact I didn't leave until about 20 minutes after closing time and there were other people still eating. Those people at the door could have grabbed something but because the door was locked I thought that was kind of bad. Let the people eat something even if you're cleaning up and putting things away.
The breakfast choices were a variety of hot and cold options. However the hot options included a pancake machine that I have never seen before. You press a button and a pancake is made. It's the worst tasting pancake ever and is very rubbery in texture. The egg and cheese tasted very bad as well. All the hot options are frozen types of food that is heated. I would strongly recommend either only offering cereal and fruit or upgrade the hot options to offer real scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon.
There is a Denny's just in front of the hotel that looks very nice. Maybe offer IHG Rewards members or all guests a voucher to eat at the Denny's.
Overall the hotel was great and offered numerous restaurants down the street and a 24 hour Wal-Mart very...
