This place recently wrapped up a full renovation. The results have the hotel looking generally quite good. Overall, I would say that it’s a solid destination for folks who are traveling to the Olympic Peninsula. The front desk staff was polite overall and routinely greeted guests coming and going. A younger 20-something female front desk staff member who worked during afternoon and evening hours was especially nice…very perky and cheerful. (I didn’t catch her name. She had a great smile). Guestrooms here are large and comfortable, and the common areas were clean and updated. The indoor pool was great, and the morning breakfast offering was also solid. ||The hotel sits in a rural setting with cows grazing across the road, on the front side of the building. There is no commerce within walking distance other than a restaurant adjacent to the hotel. We had one dinner at that place. The quality was average, service very slow. There are better places nearby. Downtown Sequim is a short distance away, maybe a mile up the road. Tedesco’s in downtown was quite good. ||If you’re a prospective guest and are pondering staying in Sequim versus Port Angeles, both communities offer some advantages. While the water setting in Port Angeles is nice, that city is shockingly dated in appearance. It’s like a throwback to 1970’s. As an observation from an urban dweller, I was taken at how stagnant the economy is in the nearby area, with not a lot of visible new commercial development. All that looks new is a big Walmart. ||Most lodging options in Port Angeles & Sequim are generally old and substandard. You see very little of anything that looks brand new and fresh. Hotel rates in either Sequim or Port Angeles are both shockingly high in the peak season, but I guess its supply and demand economics for travelers heading to Olympic National Park, or on to Victoria. There are few good hotel options nearby.||In my opinion, the Holiday Inn Express-Sequim may well be the premiere place to stay in the nearby 30-mile vicinity given its recent and pleasant update. Bottom line, you’ll need to ante up a high price point to stay at the Holiday Inn Express during the summer season, often $350 or more per night. If you bite the bullet and pay prevailing rates, at least know that you’ll get a modern and updated accommodation and a friendly staff if you opt for the Holiday Inn Express. ...

The hotel experience is one noted as the Hospitalitty industry, of welcoming weary travellers by providing a comforting stay while away from home.
While we were away in the Seattle area with our two children. We stayed at two. The first was The Holiday Inn in Sequim Washington. Probably the eiptome of the “hotel”. Overhang for baggage dropp-off. Front desk concierge. Continental Breakfast as well as the indoor pool and hot tub.
While on the surface this was true, but it is in the small things that provide the extra touch that bring up or down an establishement. For starters, providing water is always a grace, but the Holiday Inn even went the step further by providing orange, or lemon, or even Cucumber. Cut and arranged around the bowl (secured by ice to stay in place) and then filled. It’s a nice touch. Our kids were given star stickers on the night of as well. Again just a cute addition to our stay. We decided to come back a day later for two nights as our camping arrangements fell through and did not regret the decision. I was given free asprin at the front desk when I asked. Great! I was told about the laundry and the costs associated and that they would provide change for anything. Again, much needed after our trip was rained out. There was even a fourth floor that lead that was an outside porch/patio area. with seating and tables, and lights at night time. Very nice. The hot tub and pool were much needed as we were FREEZING after our trip around the High Divide trail. Just a great little hotel in the middle of nowhere.
I’d rate this hotel as a “3 star hotel” but I would rate it as a 4/5 just because of these small kindnesses.
The four points at the Sheradon Hotel near SEA-TAC was blown out of the water by this hotel. Their pool was closed for the season, the required vouchers for the breakfasts (which would have costed us 18 buck EACH) we were given two initially. The roof is lovely if you need a place to...
Read moreHoliday Inn Express is my "go to" hotel chain for a nice stay at usually reasonable prices, and without a doubt, I rate the Sequim (pronounced as Skwim) hotel as the best HIE I've experienced. It's new and clean and in a great location. The room was very comfortable and housekeeping was extremely attentive. Breakfast was the typical (very good) spread for a HIE, but the room, and more importantly, the staff serving breakfast were much nicer than usual. The pool and hot tub are in a beautiful two story glass enclosure -- by far the nicest pool we've seen in this hotel chain. But I saved the best for last: The 4th floor of the hotel is a rooftop garden! It has probably 1000 sq ft of seating area with a canopy for shade and numerous plants as well as a nice view of the Olympic foothills on one side and farmland stretching to the coast on the other. We were there on weekdays, so we missed the live musical entertainment on Saturday nights, but I took full advantage of the rooftop garden by videoconferencing from there with a nice view of the hills (or in one case, the morning fog) for my colleagues stuck back at work. My only (very minor) complaint is that the wireless signal on the rooftop garden was a little weak, so at one point the bandwidth was too narrow for video and I had to retreat to my room to continue. But that was the only issue I had during a two day stay there with my daughter while vacationing on the Olympic peninsula. While enjoying your stay there, don't miss two nearby attractions: 1. Hurricane Ridge -- a great drive up to phenomenal views from some short hiking trails; 2. Dungeness Spit, where you can walk on a 5.5 mile spit leading out to a lighthouse. Or if you don't want to do a 5.5 mile beach walk, just go there to enjoy the waves coming in and beautiful views in all directions. Don't miss this area or this hotel if you are anywhere nearby -- this beats staying in Port Angeles...
