Booked this trip not knowing what to expect, and left enjoying every moment of our week! This resort is a hidden gem, especially for the price. Book as far as you can in advance for the summer months (reservations open 365 days out). Quiet, peaceful, friendly staff, fantastic amenities including a fish house (to fillet your catch, vacuum seal, freezer store, and ship if needed) and gear shop (can rent/buy fishing supplies, hip waders, etc.). Rooms were nice and fit our needs (Seward is not a place to come for luxury, but the room was more than comfortable). WiFi was consistent and acceptable - wouldn’t attempt any virtual meetings but more than sufficient for most use cases. Bar and grill open Wed-Sun, although we didn’t have a chance to eat there. Washers/Dryers worked well ($1.25 for each). Bobbi at the front desk was incredibly helpful at giving us tips for marine tours (and when to book ahead for a discount) as well as fishing charters. |Above all the highlight of the trip was salmon fishing with Duane and Suki! You can sign up at the front desk, check in the morning to see what time they are going (based on the tides), and they will show you to snag salmon at Nash Bay. They have been coming to Seward for almost 15 years, and donate their time to help guests. Having never done this before, we really appreciated their time and patience. They absolutely made certain we caught something! It was always fun to meet the other guests going out that day as well. Hope they will continue to offer this experience in the future. ||We are returning home with fond memories, a full cooler, and already-booked reservations for next year. If you are visiting, make certain you bring a sharp fillet knife and #10 hooks! (can get at shop in...
Read moreOmg! Seriously ripping off our military! My Family has been taking charters for years in Seward! We have caught Halibut every time. We sometimes didn’t get any Salmon, but always Halibut! We always fish for Rockfish off the rocks going towards Lowell point. They are fun to fish for but NOT on a charter you just paid 900.00 for. In the am when everyone was checking in, the shuttle was delayed 1.5 hours due to 5 people not showing up. ( I feel the crew made decision then to not bother with Halibut since they were down $$). But every person deserves to be treated fairly & equally in the Military resort. This charter was not treated fairly & equally. There were two boats going out this morning, the first boat left on time and returned after our charter. With Halibut caught by every person. They took them to 3 different spots for 20 minutes each, and only produced rockfish. Everyone knows Captains communicate with each other and tell each other where fish are biting good. Also are things known as Fish finders are used on the boats. The Captain joked about fish not cooperating today. I feel the resort desk should of let everyone know that would not actually be fishing for Halibut, but Rockfish, and let us decide if we wanted to spend 250 apiece or not go at all. The Captain of the boat should not be able to make that decision. I think you should hire professional Charter company’s to give our Military, retirees, and Veterans, the true customer service they truly deserve! My Son, Daughter in law , my Daughter and Son in law deserved better. My Son just returned from deployment defending all of you !...
Read moreI am retired army and traveling with my son who is active duty so he called to make the reservation. He confirmed we could get a tent site but sleep in our vehicle, we were fine with paying for an RV site but told we couldn't do that with a car. When we arrived we saw you can't actually park at the tent site but in a parking spot nearby so my son wanted to confirm it was fine if we slept in our vehicle, not trying to get a refund. Two staff members did it was fine but one woman got upset and said that was absolutely not allowed. They told us they had to cancel our reservation but because it was less than the required time we probably wouldn't get a refund. At that point it was too late to get any other tent site in town, certainly not with a shower that we wanted. So of you plan on sleeping in your car you must have a tent on the ground at least, because they don't do bedcheck to verify where you are actually sleeping. And you can park at an RV site with your car but must use the hookups because trucks with camper shells and vehicles pulling campers are allowed, so what's the difference. You'd think they'd be happy to get the same payment as an RV but save on utility costs. Or payment for a tent site but let us park in front and double book the tent site for sometime actually wanting to put a tent down. Considering we verified ahead of time and they cancelled us, refusing a refund is completely unacceptable. An ICE complaint is...
