Wow what to say. if I was able to give minus zero numbers on their review I sure will do that. We stopped to get some information about the town and figure out what’s going to happen on Fourth of July celebration. We heard this is the best place in Alaska celebrates the 4th. We arrived it was a lady sitting in the front desk we politely wanted to ask her about places stuff to do around town she had absolutely zero tolerance to answer our question ,she was very rude ,very short in her answers like we literally interrupting her day and she was stopping and looking on the clock because she had another half hour to be there. We felt very uncomfortable . We pick up a few brochures by ourselves and left with that and there’s a few couples got to in and also wanted to know knowledge about the glaciers in tours around town - Again her answers was absolutely zero time to think and we saw their expression on their face was like are you really giving us this face - you are working for information center you representing town. We felt very uncomfortable and would definitely not recommend to go there. You have another few places visitor centers that you can find nicer people to get all your questions answered. ( the lady on picture- is the one who don’t care for what you have...
Read moreI wish I could give less than one star. Don’t waste your time with a stop here especially on a Wednesday at 3:50 pm because the employee with the long dark hair and glasses who gets off work at 4:00 will speak to you in a very condescending way. I asked where my grandsons, who were there with me, could fish for salmon and her remark was not in Seward, that it’s against the law. I asked where then if not in Seward and she responded “I already told you….”. I heard the woman before me talk to her and I thought rudely but in hindsight I’m convinced she was responding to the same condescending attitude that I encountered. The unfriendliest welcome center I’ve ever been too. We weren’t even in our car yet and they were rushing out the door and in their car. Wow! The dramatic and inaccurate account of the conversation with Karen and the response below is indicative of the attitude you too can experience at this “welcome” center. From the executive director of the chamber. I wonder what could have happened while Karen was explaining the nuances? Note the number of “local guides” giving them good reviews after a poor one which inflates...
Read moreOne day last June my wife and I arrived in town in late afternoon (around 4:00) in a 19' RV. Google maps had directed us to this place as the public campground. Turns out it was the Visitor's Center. The woman behind the counter lied to us. She told us that the public campgrounds were all full, and she gave us the name of a private campground a mile and a half out of town and told us to stay there. We were going out on a whale-watching cruise early the next morning and didn't see how we could make that work. We decided to nose around and see if we could get in somewhere. Turns out the auxiliary campground (on the old baseball field) was still almost empty, with lots of sites available! We ended up staying there. This woman almost ruined our visit with her lie. What kind of representative of the town is that? My wife and I traveled for half a year over five continents and we only met with three moments of dishonesty; this was...
