This was our first visit to Holden Beach, and reserved HBRV via on-line reviews! The staff on the telephone and in person were so awesome! So willing to help, answer any questions, and address any needs we had. The Maintenance men were great to set and visit with and share stories. We have a 34 ft travel trailer and our assigned spots were of good size, no problems getting into them at all. (We had to add a day so we had to move once, no biggie) My wife is on continuance oxygen and loves to fish. Although the ponds were drying up some due to the extreme heat, the staff provided us RV parking spots that were closest to the ponds for her to fish! And her oxygen tubing reached her chair and she loved it! (She caught some brim, a bass, and a large catfish!) The pool is manicured with floral vegetation and the fencing around the pool had built in misters to help with the heat wave. The majority of the pool is in the shade from the trees. Although we did not use it, the staff operated a small shuttle bus to the beach for campers to avoid the hassle of finding a place to park and parking fees! Another great amenity! We will book again at HBRV when in the area! Only issue we had, re-locate some turtles from the ponds! way to many, kept taking our bait hungry little guys! HA HA!

We wanted to get away for a quick weekend and this place was perfect. It is very clean and well taken care of. The bath house was great with it being your own little bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower in one. VERY CLEAN! There is lots of shade and the sites are all nice size. They are in the process of adding more sites around where the pond normally is so there is no fishing pond at the moment. Everyone who works there and the other residents/campers are super nice. I spoke with Fred while I was walking my dog - he is retired and now works there maintaining the grounds etc. He told me the future plans are to put in a pool and a larger recreational area. The campground is about 2 miles from Holden Beach access. It is close to good golf courses, grocery stores, and restaurants. With the quarantine most restaurants were closed but we were able to get ice cream at Beaches and Cream which is a mile down the road. We would definitely stay at HBRV again. One suggestion I do have for future renovations is to add a doggie wash area. The only campground I have stayed at that has one is Hilton Head Harbor RV Park and Marina - another GREAT campground - They have a doggie wash area and it is a life saver when camping with your dog.

This campground was on our list of different places we wanted to see while camping on the east coast. Good and Bad here...the staff was really nice and welcoming. I like the text messaging they do and the overnight stay cost is really good for the area, but the park needs a lot of work. We really wanted to enjoy it, but parking your camper here for the night and close to the beach is all it has to offer. The grounds are horrible and snakey, meaning everything is grow up with weeds and poison ivy all other the place. I know they are close to the beach with sand, but a little grass, mowing and weed eating would make the place look better. We wanted to stay here another night before we arrived, but I am glad we only stayed one night and left as early as we could. I never stepped foot out of the camper once we were setup due to bugs and not sure what was going to jump out of the weeds. They say they are going to have a pool soon which should have already been there as long as this place has been opened so people could enjoy it on these super hot days before or after the beach. Again, we really wanted to like the place, but first impressions made us want to turn around and leave.

When confirming our reservation the staff was so friendly and excited to have us that we decided, at the last minute, to reserve and go a day early. After check in all that changed. The staff, aware this was our first stay, was extremely unhelpful with any area suggestions when asked anything. We were tent camping at sites with electric and water and were told where the bathhouses (all 2 of them) were but were NOT told the bathrooms at the pool area had AC. The closer bathroom did not have AC. They are expanding RV sites and only have 4 total bathhouses (showers and toilets) and only 2 have AC! The older ones dont even have a working fan or window! The flies are terrible! The park does nothing to treat the tent area (next to the playground) for flies. Their rules state that quiet time is 11pm to 7am. However we were sent a text in the middle of the afternoon that our dog was barking (inside the tent) and we needed to be respectful of others at the park. The person next to us said an RV'er behind us was screaming at our dog (again, inside our tent) and that was why she was barking. Also, after returning from another short trip to the Dollar General because the "large" (ha) park store didn't have fly strips or candles (and charges $5 for a bag of ice) we were again texted asking us to "please be mindful that the speed limit inside the park is 5mph". I would be stuck in one of the many pot holes because 5mph is coasting! And, BTW park management, I could not have been going more than 7-8mph. Unlike whoever is driving your little red golf cart about 10-12mph. I also paid for my stay and did NOT appreciate the texts when we did nothing wrong. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could and DO NOT recommend it. We will never be returning. THE FLIES ARE TERRIBLE. DO...

We stayed during October 2021 for 3 nights in our pop-up camper. Easy to book online reservations. Staff called after we booked online and checked to make sure we didn’t have any questions.

Family owned and they take great pride in maintaining the campground. Great place to camp and then drive 2-3 miles to the beach. Shaded, unlike many other beach campgrounds. Advertised as the only place at Holden Beach to tent camp.

Trolley (free) comes by hourly and takes people to local ice cream shop and public beach access. Activities planned for the year and advertised, so you can plan ahead.

Two bathhouses, one with one toilet/sink/shower and one with two toilets/sinks/showers and a laundry area. Updated in the last 3 years and very clean. Only drawback is sometimes we had to wait for one to open up.

Small pond and stream running through part of the campground.

Small tent area and RV sites are available for pop-ups. Note you’ll likely be next to the big rigs. Some spots are very close to one another, but we still felt like we had plenty of room, considering we weren’t there to spend time at the site, we spent the days at the beach. Sturdy picnic table at each site as well as a fire pit.

Fenced dog park available and small playground for kids. Open grassy space for yard games (like corn hole, provided) and community grill. Camp store and friendly staff.

Expect to be met at the entrance for check-in and they’ll escort you to your site. Will help with backing in if needed.

WiFi signal was exceptional! Power and water hook ups worked well. We stayed at a 30amp site and brought a converter that split into two for camper and extra for outdoor lighting/cooking.

We throughly enjoyed our stay and...

Absolutely the worst campground experience I've ever had. The host who lead me to my site and was supposedly spotting for me must have been asleep. Kept telling me you are good looking great right up until the crunch that destroyed my awning on a low hanging tree limb. I had already expressed my concerns over this low hanging tree limb but he kept assuring me that he could get me in there with no problem and that he had gotten many in there before. To make things even worse, the management really didnt seem to care and accepted no responsibility even though they had to have known or should have known better than to try to place me in that site. So next they say they can move me to another site, which they did, only to tell me the next morning that I needed to move to a different site again. I had told them that I didnt want to fully set up if I was going to have to move. They told me I wouldnt have to move and changed their story the next morning. So after such a miserable experience we packed up and left after one night with a damaged camper and no where to stay even though we had already prepaid for 4 nights there. Buyer beware. This place is terrible and the manager we were dealing with Becky should seriously consider a new line of work or at a minimum learn how to treat customers fairly. Also the main entrance is closed and there is serious road construction on the main road out front which makes getting there very slow and difficult. What a poorly managed business. I cant imagine that they will be in...
