Salty Dogs Cafe and Bark Bar — Restaurant in Shallotte

We wanted to like this place but we will not be returning. For 4 people it cost us $61. A surfer burger, plain cheeseburger, club sub and I got the quiche and soup special with 4 bottles of water. The sandwiches don't come with a side. My husband enjoyed his burger. My daughter didn't like hers. My son liked the club sub. It was nothing special and it is overpriced. My quiche was OK. I stopped in for a quick bite and the Salty Dog did not dissapoint! Easily located right on the highway in Holden Beach it's a hidden gem. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was spectacular! I had the hot lobster roll with butter and it was a real pleaser! The lobster was fresh, warm, and tender and the butter really complimented it well. That was it and all it needed to be, plain and simple perfection! Had the bacon quiche special with crab soup. The crab soup was delicious! Although made with milk, not cream. The quiche crust was underdone, if cooked at all; the filling was full of bacon but just didn't have a good texture(microwaved??) The tea was fresh & tasty.
