beautiful setting when you arrive. friendly and great service clean rooms -complimentary breakfast (continental) WiFi was great! -ON THE RIVER- it's hard to leave when you picnic on those chairs next to the River. complimentary ice on the way out the door :)
Everything went smoothly!
Chairs on the decks overlooking the River are such a wonderful asset. a cafe below that also has seating but you can obviously bring to outdoor viewing seats.... just gorgeous!
The staff- a joy to interact with as they are excited about these and other parks (I got lots of advice from Janice on the future parks we will be visiting on our 28 park adventure-- i am looking forward to that chicken pot pie at the badlands!).
The store here is fabulous! Well stocked and the prices are awesome m! is amazing! They have a microwave for the meal you buy (although their cafe is so good so I would try a burger there as well- so good!))
Currently my kiddo is sleeping in a bed next to me at this motel and i have the window slightly open and listening to the River... and squawking of the birds.
WiFi is great. I don't think you could watch tv on it but overnight i got a video to upload :) and basic internet almost always worked
Make sure when you leave your room that you pull the door closed.
Complimentary breakfast was great. Bagel with cream cheese, cereal, bananas, apples, oranges and coffee.. oh and packaged muffins with a microwave to heat. Coffee looked good... we were very happy with it!
After checking in we went down to the chairs they have set up and had a picnic overlooking the River. We were there at least 90 minutes as my kiddo was thoroughly enjoying the scene- butterflies flew around and almost seemed playful. A bird was eyeing my kiddos chips....she is not allowed to feed them but she had dropped a small piece and it delighted her to watch the bird eat it. and just the River... we spent some time deep breathing....listening to the River rush. She kept saying, " not yet, not yet".
Finally, they gave me some ice for my cooler - as a hotel guest. From beginning to end, we felt taken care of and cared for as the entire staff is wonderful. They only have 21 rooms and I have to say that I feel privileged to...
Read moreMy research to this property definitely did not match the property! They advertise "restaurant and snack bar".... it is ONLY a snack bar with way over priced sandwiches and according to the note attached to the menu, they were out of several things. One chicken sandwich cost $15.00 and because they were out of things that is all you got. The WiFi was pretty much non-existence! Neither my husband or I could access… I am guessing due to the fact that others were trying to access and/or using around the lodge. They should not advertise WIFI! We were very disappointed with this location. The room had 2-beds, a table with 2-chairs and a dresser and very out dated and not welcoming at all…. Old and worn out! The bathroom as the room, needed serious updating. Sometimes people like to rest in their room, tv would have been nice to at least catch up on the news. When you have been out all day, relaxing in your room at least catching up on the news on tv would have been nice. When I checked in, I asked if there were any luggage carts and was told no. So we walked up 3-ramps to get to the room. We took just the bare essentials. We actually did not stay the night. After eating we went back to the room and sat down at the table…. Decided almost in unison to grab our bags and head to Fresno for the night. We made it to a hotel in 1 ½-hours. Yes, we loss our payment, we just could not stay there. Past time for this location to do some remodeling and updating!!! It gets one star because I had to...
Read moreTHIS IS NOT A LODGE REVIEW; THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE MARKET FROM AN OLD FASHION CAMPER: First of all, camping in the wilderness is NOT the same as a luxury vacation. If you're looking for a fancy hotel with cable tv, fully stocked bar, etc., then this place is NOT for you! This Market/Lodge is near the end of a road, in a very remote area at the base of mountains so obviously wifi & cell reception is going to be unavailable. Secondly, they sell some foods like eggs and bacon, frozen breakfast meals and frozen dinner meals, but they are unable to provide fresh produce because it probably would not last very long on the drive to the market, and it might be over priced so most people probably wouldn't buy it anyways. So if you plan on camping here for a few nights, and you want some fresh fruit and veggies, then buy it BEFORE you get into the national park. If you have a large enough cooler with a block (BLOCK, NOT CRUSHED) of ice🧊, then it can last up to 5 days! They also have a microwave for you to warm up your frozen meals, so THANK YOU Cedar Grove Lodge for providing that luxury for campers. Finally, they provide showers and laundry services which is a luxury itself for campers who stay longer than 3 days. However, its not free, so bring...
