When we first walked into the room it was very musty smelling. We spoke to the front desk and was told it shouldn't be musty because it was newly remodeled, but the popcorn ceiling with spider webs coming down said a different story. (Who still has gross, unhealthy popcorn ceiling??) NO Continental breakfast, which, this is the first Courtyard we have stayed at in over 10 years where they don't have a complimentary breakfast. There is a "cafe" but very limited options and the poor one woman who worked the whole weekend by herself refused service for some items because she was exhausted and didn't have the time. It was 9:45pm, they closed at 10 and my daughter who had been playing softball all day was starving and only wanted a quesadilla and I wanted an easy drink that was supposed to be on special, she said she was closing up and couldn't make them. At 9:45 pm there weren't very many other options, so my husband had to drive 15 minutes to the closest thing open which was taco bell :( We came straight from her game and was counting on getting her food at our hotel. A hand towel and bath towel had some kind of gray dirt on them that brushed off when I checked it (so not a stain). The bathroom had a bad septic type of smell and we asked them to fix it, which they said they did, but every time we took a shower it got worse, like burning your nostrils, gagging, eye watering smell. The third day was the unbearable and if we would have had to stay an extra night, we would have stayed somewhere else. Plus, the room was really small and did not have a safe...
Read moreWhere do we start? This place was horrible. At over $200/night, for 2 nights, we expected way better.
First, access to this location was almost impossible. They are working on I-435 and Midland Dr. and we had to drive an extra 10-20 miles to get there every time we went anywhere. Would have been nice to know that before booking.
Room was another story. BUGS! Tried to inform the staff, but finding anyone to help was almost impossible. And get this, if you are on a multi-day stay, they don't clean your room. They wait until you leave before cleaning it. Thankfully, I was able to track someone down to ask for towels. And the mini-fridge and AC are so loud, it was almost impossible to sleep.
Service: non-existent. Finding anyone working there was almost impossible - except for the workers doing the remodel (which was another fun time).... Other than Alicia who checked us in on the first day (she was excellent), I thought this hotel must have been self-service.
Here's another on for you... Their dining area (not free) charged $10 for a bowl of oatmeal. And then there is the $6+ cup of Starbucks coffee... In the 3 days/2 nights we were there, we did not see one person eating in there. And access to any food in the area was impossible, due to the construction on Midland/I-435.
I expected way better from a Courtyard. I have never been more dissatisfied with a hotel stay than this one. (I used to travel for work and stayed at hotels for 30 weeks out of every year for many years, so that is saying a lot.
Find somewhere else to stay - avoid this hotel...
Read moreKudos to your photographer and website manager. They did an excellent job of making a lemon look like lemonade. First. The staff was very friendly and professional. The rest of our stay was a big NO. The hallways were littered with trash. The disinfectant and musty smell of the room was overwhelming, hitting hard when the door opened. And we took that disgusting smell home with us in our luggage. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls in main room and bath. The beds and bedding were awful. Only had towels for two in a room with two double beds. Everything seemed run down. The patio area was underwhelming and the fire pit out of service. The bistro has very few breakfast options and highly overpriced. We spent WAY too much for this room especially in this condition. Could have stayed downtown for the same price in a nice hotel. The room was quiet and we did feel safe. Frankly you owe us a refund for about 1/3 of what we paid when the quality of the facility and stay is factored in.
