Rooms are great other than an issue with their air conditioning system(Lobby got the worst of it, super hot!). Everything was clean and the bed is very comfy! There is a mini fridge and a microwave! The pool gets crowded quickly and it was cold- didn't stay in long! 🥶 Breakfast is alright, lots of options, but if it's busy some of the refill foods get put out too quickly - cold center on the biscuits, but the gravy warmed it up slightly. Nothing spectacular, but the variety makes it so everyone can find something they enjoy. The drink selection is great though! The location is convenient and close to many things. I didn't like the later hour service or the parking lot. There is a big hole on the way to their main entrance and their sprinkler system goes a bit crazy in some areas; the 1st handicap spot will soak the drivers side of the vehicle parked there, so be aware! Service is great during busy hours but a bit too lax on off hours - you may have to come down to the desk multiple times before getting someone. Guest laundry is on the 2nd floor, but that isn't stated anywhere. Make sure you have quarters, there is no change machine and the desk didn't have any. One washer and one dryer, there is a little room with a fridge, tables and chairs to hangout in while your laundry is going, that was nice! Overall enjoyable and would stay again.

This hotel was a nightmare. When we first walked into the room, we were met with two large fans and the room was at 75 degrees. I went back down to the front desk and asked if the AC was not working. I was met with a tone of “the previous client wanted them. Do you want them removed?”…..because the AC isn’t working… It was 90+ degrees that weekend so AC was needed. After a second trip down to the front desk, I asked if we could move rooms and they begrudgingly did. Weather moved in that night and lightning struck the hotel. The AC was knocked out. While they are trying to restart the AC units, they had the guests that were in the lobby answering the phone and watching the doors. When they couldn’t get the restart to work, they said they would “call someone in the morning” instead of making an emergency call. It was a miserable night of trying to get any sleep. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but thankfully they “let us out of the contract” as the problem still hadn’t been resolved at 4:00. When we left, our room had reached 78 degrees. There was also no hot water and they were down to one really slow elevator. And the biggest kick in the shorts was being charged the full price for the miserable night’s stay. Will not being staying here again.

During my recent weekend stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shawnee-Kansas City West, I had a wonderful experience. Despite its proximity to the busy 435 interstate, the hotel was remarkably quiet, providing a peaceful retreat nestled in a nice wooded area. The staff was incredibly friendly and courteous, making the stay even more pleasant. The rooms were well-kept and clean, with beds that were perfectly made. The bathroom was a highlight, featuring a large walk-in shower with glass doors and delightful decorative touches like towels folded into swan shapes. In the morning, the breakfast buffet offered a great selection of items, and the large dining space made for a comfortable and enjoyable meal. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Everything about this stay was terrible! We stayed in 2 rooms at this hotel for a weekend. It started from the moment of check-in. We had a room with a pull-out couch. As I was checking in, I asked if the bedding was in the room for that, they replied no, and then handed me a HUGE bag for me to carry to the room.....along with all of my other luggage and my children!!! After finally getting settled, I pull out the couch bed to begin making the bed, only to find a TINY mattress that was about 4" thick and covered in a hard, thick, loud plastic covering! The kind you put over couches in the 60's and 70's. All they gave me to cover that was a mere regular sheet! I was suppose to have my children sleep on hard, cold plastic! On top of that, the bedding that I lugged up there the first time was missing pieces, and some had stains and hair still on them. So after about 3 more trips to the front desk to get more bedding so I could make a decent bed for my children to sleep, I finally got their bed made (THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR.....SO I COULD HAVE A ROOM WITH A PULL OUT COUCH!!! THAT WAS GROSS!!!)

The next morning we went to get our breakfast around 8:15 only to find that there was VERY LITTLE food out. I asked a worker if they had replacements coming out soon, only to be snapped at with her saying, "She didn't take care of that. The other lady was in charge of that and she was sure she knew about it." So I was basically indirectly told....that I should wait....it didn't matter that I had to leave in a short while so that I wasn't late to the even that I was in the area for!!!! Once they did put out replacement food, they put out pork sausage links (no longer had turkey sausage), omelets that were supposed to be cooked - but were still frozen in the middle! My husband found out when he took a bite, only to bite into a cold, uncooked omelet! I was left to scrounge around for enough food for my family so we could eat. In addition to the eggs not cooked, there was not much other hot food out. The couple of biscuits out were cold and hard, there was only a couple pieces of pork sausage and bacon put out at a time, and the pancake machine ran out of mix! Which they said would take 20 minutes to prep another bag!!! So that wasn't an option either! So much for a nice "Hot Breakfast"!!! The second morning was even worse! There was even less food! At one point there the only hot item was the gravy for a good amount of time! Again, they ran out of pancake mix and didn't have one prepped! (So another 20 minutes to wait...or give up and leave)! Each morning there was only one worker for the kitchen. The first morning there was someone wiping tables, but not the second morning. The second morning I did see a couple of workers at the front desk (one was a manager.... I could see from her tag) who stood around talking, and only rarely helped the kitchen worker. Many people went hungry that morning, in addition to my family!!! Again.....so much for a "Hot Breakfast" that was supposed to be included in our stay. Oh, in addition to the food....the juice machine wasn't working right, they couldn't keep the working juice dispensers full, and the milk tasted old in the cartons.

This hotel was the most cheaply made hotel I've EVER stayed at, despite it looking like it was just built! You could see it in all of the workmanship. The elevator was bad - it didn't self-level so that you could roll your luggage on - they got caught going from the floor to the elevator, when you were on the elevator if you moved - you would move the whole elevator, the shelves in the bathroom shower were broken, and everywhere I looked - there were broken items.

There was only 1 baggage cart in the lobby for the 3 days that we were there. Which of course wasn't available for the 3 hours I kept looking at it on our checkout day. Therefore, I had to make MANY trip to get all of my luggage to and from the vehicle. In addition to having no baggage cart, I had to wait for the elevator (while holding all of my luggage/load I was taking down) so the room cleaning crews could move their carts up down between the floors. Each time they took up the full elevator while guests had to wait for another elevator.....making us late, and me tired from having to hold my luggage while trying to finish packing so I could leave!

In addition to all of this.....so many items were dirty, stained, or just looked gross! The shower (just a shower, not a tub shower) didn't look clean, was slippery from soap scum from not being cleaned properly, the broken shelves were left laying on the floor in the shower. The floors in the bathroom and room were VERY dirty on the edges! Several other items appeared to be cleaned very minimally as well! Both rooms were equally dirty!

My husband and I were left VERY disgusted by this hotel and will never stay there again! This hotel does not live up to being a Holiday Inn Express!!! They also did not acknowledge our Priority Club Member status at any point, which they...

I travel to this area about 3 times a year for business and I have stayed in this hotel about 3 times. Each time I stay here I tell myself never to stay here again but there are other hotels in the area that I have also stayed at so I forget that this one is an issue. Here is why. One time after returning to my room from a long day at work I noticed several room doors that were not closed all the way. I thought this was odd, and when I got to my room my door was not closed all the way either! I called the front desk to report the opened doors and suggest that they come check it out and close them. The person said, "Oh house keeping must have not fully closed them, but it's ok the rooms are empty." At which time I informed him that my room was also not closed all the way, and my personal things were in my room. He said, "Oh I am sorry about that, I guess I will check the other rooms." ||In my recent stay the mattress had a huge sink hole about 2 feet wide and 4 feet long on the left side. Don't roll over or you feel like you are falling out the bed.||I have stayed in countless hotels throughout many states and this hotel is the only one that I have had the following experience: This hotel has the AC unit on the wall next to the bed near the ceiling. I has adjustable angle for the blower. No matter what angle you set it at, it is blowing right on your face while you are laying in bed. I literally had to make a wall with the extra pillows to block the wind. If that's not enough, here is the real kicker with the AC; It has a wall mounted thermostat which lets you set the temperature. (Or at lest it leads you to believe that you are controlling the temperature.) The very first time I stayed there set it on 72 and I felt that the room was still just not getting cold enough so I dropped it to 68. After a while I noticed that it was still muggy in the room. I called the front desk to report that there was something wrong with the AC because it was not getting cooler in the room. That is when the person at the front desk notified me that HE controls the temperature of the rooms!!!!!!! ||Now on my most recent visit, I stayed for 3 nights and I had to call the front desk 2-3 times a night to have him drop the temperature. It was to the point that he would answer the phone like this, "What temperature would you like it at?" Really!!?? How about you leave it where I set it so I don't have to call you at 11 pm, 1 am, 3 am because my room is getting so stuffy that it wakes me up!?||I had a coworker in a 2nd room and on the first morning she mentioned to me that it was hot in her room. I informed her of the "trick" and she was in disbelief. She reported to me later that week that she also had to call him a few times to lower the temperature.||When I checked out, the guy asked, "How was your stay?" I replied with, "Terrible, your AC 'program' is ridiculous and I am never staying here again." He apologized and I put a note in my phone to remind me to not make the mistake of staying here again. It's too bad to, because the hotel was clean, and the breakfast was good and had lots of options, but if you can't get a good night sleep,...

Really bad experience especially with the manager she’s a crack head that’s the best way to destroy her. Reserve the meeting room , and rooms for Friday and Saturday, and had really bad experience. Friday room carpet was wet ac didn’t work, and nothing was done. Had a baby shower Saturday wife almost 8month, and it’s a rainbow baby, she lost one, and this one has been a risky pregnancy for her. So we invited a friend let’s call her Alli. Alli went to the bathroom, and manager which name wasn’t giving by no one to me, manager started arguing with Alli, followed her to the baby shower, and started making a scene I don’t want Alli here she needs to go. Went to the front desk ask for manager , ask for her name there she didn’t replied , thing she said you don’t need my name I just want Alli out of there, she can’t be here, if not I’ll call the cops. How you tell a friend to go she can’t be there, I stay at the front desk and heard the manager talking to someone on the phone asking, what if I don’t want someone in my hotel, she came out talk to here again why she can’t be here, she replied she had restriction order she can be around her the manager. I went back to the baby shower and ask allí I don’t want you to get in trouble, do you have a restriction order , she said no the manager is a family member, and she just don’t like me and started arguing with me when she saw me. That manager came 3 time to the baby shower just looking for trouble, got my wife and told her if she don’t go I’ll cancel the party. That pist me off and told her if your the manager acting like this is really unprofessional. Wife started to get contractions thanks to this Stu… lady. I told her I’ll call the cops , but she replied you don’t have a contract, I just want allí out, I went out side call the ambulance wife didn’t felt good also told them what was going on and told me the manager call already police is on the way but if my wife feels sick again the can call an ambulance. While all this is going on, my friend who works there rented the meeting room and the rooms for me got in trouble by the manager, telling him pretty much he’s in trouble, and can be fired. Police came and ask allí to live because Kansas law gives some unprofessional managers the power to kick off family members they don’t like. Baby shower ruin thanks to the manager , making a scene people started living after seeing the police there. After that alli left next door courtyard and the manager and her aunt went to thread alli, and know alli took advantage and put charges against her. In all this going one the worker my friend keeps getting calls from manager that he in trouble and her thanks to him. She said the opposite to my friend, to benefit her that she got charges because of him, that he new alli was there, we made a party last year and alli was there also. Really unprofessional manager , don’t know what happened well I do now . But she ruined my wife’s baby shower and threatened my...
