I am giving this cabin one star based on their customer service and treatment we received. We put our food in the fridge after we arrived. A couple of hours later, when I got something out, I noticed it didn't feel that cold. Since it was already late, I didn't go to the office because 1. I wasn't sure if it was too warm. and 2, I didn't want to wake up the hosts who live on site. They do not have their available hours posted anywhere and while their office lights are on, that doesn't mean they are open as many businesses leave their lights on all night for security and so they can be found. I went to Walmart and bought a fridge thermometer. It seemed unreliable because it kept changing and took it a long time to reach a stable temp. All the while, my husband thought the temp was fine. In the morning, we went back to Walmart and exchanged the thermometer for another one. It confirmed that the fridge temp was between 45 and 50 degrees depending on the area of the fridge. By this time, our food had been in there for quite some time. We had to throw out all of our organic turkey burgers, yogurt, cheese, etc. Since we were there for 3 nights and planned to cook for most meals, we had a lot of food. $100 worth that we then had to replace. I spoke with the owners about this and the husband accused me of lying, saying I may have turned down the fridge. This was after I requested to have our groceries reimbursed as they should have checked the fridge temp before we checked in. I couldn't even tell what the setting on the fridge was (or which way was colder) because they had removed the knob so people wouldn't change it. They finally brought us a small apartment fridge. I then asked for them to keep our new food cold in another fridge while that fridge was reaching temperature. After telling me all I wanted was money (please - that is so ridiculous), the wife finally agreed to put our food in their fridge for a couple of hours. I have never seen such terrible customer service at a place. It was a huge inconvenience, completely ruined our evening and our plans that night. They were beyond rude and downright insulting. Do not stay there. This is not even to mention that the property is located right off the major road, so there is a lot of traffic noise. It is also not well kept, the toilet was dirty when we arrived. The ceiling above the bed had a water stain and was sagging. I pushed on it a bit, and it gave quite a bit with a visible gap. I had to move the bed away from the wall so that we wouldn't be underneath it should it give during a rainstorm. It smells musty as well, so who knows what is growing in the ceiling from the leak. The floor is also uneven where the carpet meets the wood, so this is not a good place for elderly people who may trip on it. Don't stay here if you want a nice place and to be treated...

We spent 3 days at Hidden Rest in cabin 7. The property has cabins around a common area with seating, fire pit, and play equipment. They keep the property clean and have smooth gravel on the paths to keep the dust down. They have several sized cabins with and without spas. Ours was a small one without the spa. It had a rustic look but with modern amenities such as electric reclining couch, high top table with 4 seats, small fridge, induction cooktop, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. There were plenty of outlets for charging electronics. The two rooms and bathroom were cozy, but it worked well for us. Everything was clean and it appeared that the fixtures were all relatively new. The water heater was small, so we only got one 5 minute, warm shower and then had wait about 15 minutes for it to heat back up. There is even a sign warning against back to back showers. All cabins have AC and ours had a newer split unit instead of a window unit. It worked really well and was almost silent.
I’m not sure how many people come with an intent to cook in the little kitchenette, but we came prepared to make breakfast. They supply rudimentary utensils, a few pans, and 4 place settings. Our only complaint there was that the only pan with a handle, the largest pan, was not compatible with the induction stove. We mentioned it to the owner so hopefully they check that in all the cabins. Making bacon in a saucepan that has no handle is interesting… They supply both prefilled coffee filters as well as plain filters in case you want to roll your own. We were missing disk soap and they corrected that quickly.
Check in and check out was a breeze. They sent us the code for the electronic door lock and we went straight to our cabin without having to check in at the office. When we left, we had a small list of things to do, like take out the trash and ensure that the dishes were washed. We didn’t have to go to the office. In fact other than the soap delivery, we didn’t speak to anyone other than via email or text.
The property is right off the main road and therefore there is a lot of traffic noise. Our cabin was at the front so it was very noticeable. The cabins have single pane, crank windows, so they don’t help with the noise level. We would try to stay towards the back next time. There is also the fact that there was one or two dogs in the office building that barked. A lot. Hopefully it would be quieter toward the back. It was our observation that most properties in Pinetop were situated along the main road, so it wasn’t limited to Hidden Rest. Fortunately, the road calms down between 10 pm and 6 am.
Overall, it was a great, restful experience and we...
Read moreThis is a very cute place with several cabins. If you're bougie, don't stay here. For my husband and I and friends, we are not picky or bougie. We had the three twins and a queen cabin 11. The queen is in a bedroom with a door. The living area has twin bunk bed and more a single size mattress by the window, plus a futon. There is a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, pots and pans, utensils, etc. The cabin is very humble. It's small but serves its purpose. It only has wall units for heat, they're like radiant heat type of heaters. Surprisingly when down to teens in degrees outside, we still stayed warm enough with the wall heaters. Windows are single pane and one is cracked. There are a lot of blemishes and things throughout the cabin walls and such. The shower head is removable but when in the holder, it aims pretty high without being able to move it except to the side wall. Okay for tall people haha. The shower liner is much too short to actually stop shower water from making a mess, so we had to put the actual shower curtain inside the shower pan to prevent water messes. The biggest complaint is that there are so few outlets. Pretty much one outlet per room. And the one in the bedroom is at the foot of the bed and up high on the wall. We had to ask for an extension cord from the host, which thankfully she had, so my husband could use his CPAP. There's a power strip by the TV luckily so that helped. We were pleasantly surprised to have a Christmas tree (fake) in our cabin! It's also very cute that they have a DVD player and lots of DVDs, games, etc if you bring kids. Parking space is limited, especially if you have a large vehicle. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. There are a lot of small things that aren't great but if you aren't that picky, it's a nice reasonable price stay with nice amenities having the kitchenette and everything. Also, it's a great location right between Pinetop-Lakeside and Show Low. Oh and the yard has horse shoes, swings and a see saw, a fire pit and chairs, grill, etc. We...
