My mother and I love Thai food, and unfortunately after finding out that our favorite Thai restaurant is now permanently closed in the area (Thai Promise Cafe) we decided to try Mountain Thai out during our girls night out. We arrived about 4:25 PM with it seemingly well off with customers with only two waitresses on floor. After seating ourselves, a very pleasantly perky one of the waitresses took our drink orders, then a few minutes later asked if we were ready to order in which we exclaimed that we'd like some menu's to do so. She readily apologized, stating that it was her first day and got us some menus. After placing our orders, my mother and I continued our conversation while noticing that a few of the other customers were either waiting for their waitresses attention, food order, refills, etc. Overall my mother and I were in good spirits, with myself pretty much giggling about the lack of authenticity of the place, etc. I even noted to my mom that "it usually isn't a good sign if the workers aren't of foreign ethnicity, but I guess it's good sign that there are customers coming in and out." About 5:30 PM we noticed that some people were either just now getting their food and that we haven't, and have been checked on only once. We then called over and asked our waitress how many cooks they had, in which she replied "two on staff and one that comes in and out, which I think she's here tonight." We asked if our food was close to coming, she checked and said it should be out shortly. About 5:45 Pm or so we finally received our food (my mother had a beef dish and I chicken with the intent to share) After taking one bite of a piece of chicken from my dish, I immediately spit it out and showed my mother. The chicken was under cooked and still pink. She called the manager over to show him, in which he replies with "are you sure it'snot pork? That dish is usually served with pork" - We both replied "I/she ordered it with chicken." He then grabs my plate and says that he'll have her put it back on the grill, where as I said I don't want it, we'll just share our other plate. He walks into the kitchen and we continue eating our other food. My mother noted that the flavor wasn't the worst, but then dumped a bunch of salt, pepper and soy sauce on top, noting it was an improvement. I honestly didn't mind the flavor of the dish, but the beef seemed quite tough to chew itself. After a couple minutes our waitress walks back to our table setting down my original dish, apologizing and walking away. My mother and I looked at each other confused, after stating that I didn't want the dish, they clearly took it back, microwaved it, and brought it back, removing the under cooked piece of chicken. Obviously we should've just left awhile ago, but now we had pretty much eaten the entire beef dish. My mom decided to eat some of the returned dish, but didn't get too far before we asked for the bill. She brings the bill along with two fortune cookies on one of those plastic check holders that usually indicate that they will return to take it, finish your payment and bring it back. A few minutes and my mother states, "I guess we go up to the front?" As we get to the register, I go to the restroom - after returning 10 minutes later, my mother is still waiting to pay, the two waitresses standing behind the counter looking at menus and people arriving and seating themselves, all while the manager is walking about (looking as though he has no idea what he should be doing). My mother said that he has walked by her three times, seeing that she's waiting to check out. Clearly only the manager is able to run the register, because neither of the two waitresses could do so. After about 20-25 minutes of waiting to check out, the manager finally comes to assist us. He grabs the bill and my moms credit card, runs everything threw, hands her card and receipt back, and walks away. No apology, no discount, no removal of the dish, etc. We walked out and I simply looked at my mother and said "we're the idiots for not...
Read moreWaited over 50 minutes to get our food. Owner threatened to call the cops on us... my friends (5 adult males) and i came in to enjoy a nice dinner. We ordered a couple drinks, two beers, thai tea, root beer, dr. Pepper, green tea. Placed our order for food. Included appetizers, soups.. waitress was sweet and not placing blame on her. This group of one with 6 kids got there about 20 minutes after us. And another couple about 30 minutes after. They got their food before us. So for after waiting 50 minutes we asked where the food was. They said to still wait. We got frustrated with the answer they gave us and the tone. We got up and asked for our bill for what we received and the owner (who seemed he didn't want to deal with us when he handed me the beer with a face of disgust earlier, which had already soured our mood) and asked why we were leaving. We told him we had been waiting for over 50 minutes and bigger party than us and a couple that literally showed up 30 minutes after us and that we hadn't even gotten our appetizers or soup. As we were trying to pay here told us we have to pay for the food we haven't recieved. We told him we would not because we didn't receive anything that we paid for besides the drinks (which we paid for). He then threatened to call the police and I told him we would wait and that we don't have a problem with that. He was getting very threatening and we had none of it just telling him to go ahead, we'll let them sort it out. He came from the back and had food in his hand saying it was marked take out and told us to sit down and eat it. He threw the food on the table and told us it is ok and it had only been waiting 15 minutes. (Great, cold food) With his actions then demanding us to sit down, we were already through with it. We kept asking to pay for what we got and he started throwing blame on the server. Not cool because she read very sweet and attentive to us. We asked if we should continue to wait for the police and he said "no, no, I am not going to call them, I didn't say I would call them. After the ordeal, offered to comp our drinks. We continued saying no, we will pay for them. After an hour and 20 minutes being in there he finally stepped away and said to the waitress to charge our drinks and proceeded to take the food back. Awful "owner". We don't want to create a scene, told him it will be very awkward for us to eat food here after being threatened by him calling the police on us. 50 minute wait, owner rude and threatened to call the police and we offered to wait until they arrived, wanted to pay what we were given and wanted us to eat cold food.
I can't tell you how the food tastes, but the root beer and chang...
Read moreThis is by far the most authentic and delicious Thai food I've ever eaten!!! I wish I could give 6 starts!! Fabulous local vibe and atmosphere, well decorated and very clean! My server was amazing and timed all my food perfectly and cleared my plates efficiently and with expertise. Service was amazing from the moment I walked in and was greeted pleasantly to the moment I left, the customer service was impeccable and friendly, I felt welcomed like a family member! 6 stars for customer service! Now, for the food, it was absolutely the most amazing food I've ever eaten by far! Not just Thai but all food in general! Just darn delicious!! I started with the fried tofu with peanut sauce which was crispy, hot, and delicious! Then I was contemplating the entree and rather then go with a staple like yellow curry i decided to be adventurous and order something I've never had before. I decided on the #27 Kai Yat Zai which is a Thai omelet with bell pepper, onion, cilantro, mushrooms, and tomato, I also added chicken to my dish. Drop dead fabulous!!! It was the most delicious, flavorful and wonderful thing on the planet. I'm so glad I stopped by to eat dinner. I would give this restaurant my highest merits and compliments. If you are on the Mountain or just visiting, Do Not Pass By This Fantastic Place! I will probably go back tomorrow. Thank you to the chefs, waitresses, and...
