Giving this place 1/5 stars due to the lack of hospitality and communication that my entire party and I felt. Rainbow lake itself was huge and beautiful! The boats that this organization offers were affordable and comfortable. Where I feel this establishment earns this low of a review is due to having an agitated and flustered host from the moment we stepped onto the property. Immediately upon walking up to the boat rental office, where a large number of people had already been standing, the owner, specifically directing his comments towards my party and I, stated that there were guidelines to how many people were allowed on the property at a time and that I needed to leave. Being cognizant of the current CDC guidelines while also being a healthcare professional, I requested clarification on his claims as my party consisted of 7 people total and there had clearly been way larger parties all over the grounds. After he agreed that the CDC max people in one area was 10 (which i happened to mention) he claimed he meant that there should be no large gatherings in one close area- period. This I agreed upon, but did not appreciate the lack of boundaries or barriers there were to ensure that this happened when attempting to rent a boat. I am not the business owner of this establishment and as a guest, that is not my responsibility nor should I be denied service due to a lack of preparedness. Luckily for me, Carlos (an employee) was present and was super personable and helpful. He set me up with 2 boats (motor boat for 4 and paddle boat for 4) and tried to get me settled immediately. The owner then tried to halt my boat reservation, saying a staying guest just requested the boat I was set up to get and that guests supersede boat requests over walk ons. Not sure if I trust his is factual or if this is stated anywhere in print but I genuinely felt this owner disliked my family and I and was trying to be confrontational. Luckily, my family and I received our promised rentals (after the guest was helped and I was forced to wait while she signed and paid) and had a fantastic 2.5 hour, fun time on the lake. ANOTHER ISSUE- upon arriving back to the dock- the owner stood with his arms crossed, waiting, with yet another issue. He stated only 1 of the boats was for 2 hours while the other was for 3 hours. Before starting our time slot, Carlos told me that since 1 boat was for 3 hours, it was okay for us to have the other boat for 3 hours so that my family and I could enjoy the full time together. The owner stated that Carlos told me to clarify it with him, the owner, but my paid for time slot had already started and he was with multiple other guests, so I went with what i was originally told and paid for. I received a hostile welcome back and my mother’s day gift to my parents left us with a poor aftertaste when leaving. I will never be returning to this establishment and will always remember what seemed to be like a prejudice type of treatment towards my family and I on this mother’s day weekend. AGAIN- the lake and boats itself made for a wonderful time, but this is really no way to treat paying customers nor is it a safe environment when it comes to COVID precautions, as the owner admitted upon our arrival. Read moreI had no idea if I should have made it a 4 or a 2 so I decided a 3. Well upon booking my room thru booking.com. I called the resort to ask about ATV trails and other things that the site offers, when I called and spoke with Chuck he told me that trails were right off the camp site and they had all these amazing things. I told him that I would be bringing a TRUCK and TRAILER with ATV's he said we will gladly work with you about making everything work out for us. I was like great! This was for my husbands birthday by the way. Upon arriving to the "Resort" at 4 in the afternoon we were greeted by Chuck as I asked where do I get our room key, and where we can park, he saw my husbands large truck and trailer and said " Thats going to be a problem" then looked at me and said when we talked on the phone he "Might" be able to help out. So his story immediately changed I already felt like we should not be there. He then looked around and found us a spot for the trailer that we had to detach, then showed us "our parking spot". We get to our room and I was told there were no propane grills charcoal only, but as we walked up there were PROPANE grills fully functional. So I bought a big bag of charcoal and didn't get to use it. Well the rest of he trip was fantastic except our room had a hole in the ceiling where we had ants in our room. The stove was sketchy as hell I felt like it was going to blow up. The large room we were in had one small window AC unit it was okay since it was much cooler up n Pine Top. The 3rd day we were there we found the transit from the kitchen to the living space had a nail popping up badly and i cut my foot on it multiple times until I smashed it in hard with my shoe. Carlos everyday asked us how w were doing and what our plans were for the day, he was so nice Chuck (the owner) always seemed to have an attitude of some sort. We followed the rules but by that 3rd day we always seemed to loose "our" parking spot because someone else didn't follow the rules. We were told we couldn't put our trailer in a regular parking spot but the last night we were there a trailer with a boat was parked in the regular spots, he forced us into a small corner under a tree to help other guests but why could the other person do it and not get yelled at? So my main thing to you if you stay is be prepared to NOT have room for a trailer. The website says charcoal only there is propane grills, we stayed in the ELM cabin so watch for those things I told you. There were holes in the cabinets, and they didn't clean behind the bed the bed was on a wood box frame on the ground. Then 2 box springs that didn't fit the king size mattress. But i dropped my charger behind the bed and went to get it and saw the dust, dirt and grime built up behind he bed "frame". AND they do NOT have full size Pontoon bats like the website said, it's a small 4 person boat where it felt like my husband and I were going to fall off if we moved around. Great fishing though. Please read these reviews before you stay and make your...
Read moreThe absolute worst experience I have ever had. My family visits Pinetop twice a year and our usual place we stay was booked so we thought we would try this one. Big mistake! We got there and check in was nice and easy we picked up the keys and we're asked to come and actually check in at our convince. Nice outside area for the kids to play so when I checked in I worked with Chuck. He preached bible vurses and I listened thinking he lived by the book. He did not ask for I'd or even to see my credit card. I didn't receive a receipt. The room was full of pet hair which we tried to ignore. By 9:00pm my asthma was really bothering me so I told my family I would call Chuck, with complete faith he would make it right. What I got was him being extremely rude to me, telling me it was my fault I didn't tell him I had asthma and I shouldn't stay at a pet friendly place with asthma. The place we usually stay is pet friendly and the place we ended up staying was pet friendly, I never have problems. I had to move my family out in the middle of the night and get a hotel room. I have a 1 and 3 year old who were already asleep so it was a big inconvenience. When I let Chuck know I would end up in the hospital if I stay he didn't care. Then the next day he had the never to call me and ask where I was and he would have a cleaning crew look at the room. I told him, like I told him the night before, we HAD to leave. Then he didn't want to refund my money and I had two other rooms for my family that were coming. Chuck acts as if he is a religious person but he is full of greed and doesn't care about his customers. If you read the reviews there are several who left during the night because of the horrible rooms conditions . I caution anyone for going there and dealing with him. Thankfully our credit card company refunded our money. Chuck I will...
