Do not recommend staying here at this time. Pool was cold, though general manager said the thermostat was reading 77. The general manager was not rude, but seemed unwilling to really own the problem with the pool and whirlpool. Honestly, how hard is it to buy a thermometer and check the temps? Or just USE YOUR EYES on the whirlpool. Hot tub was green with film, pump not working correctly to clean it, and colder than it should have been. First night of the two night stay, "whirlpool" was closed. Technician came in, and I do not know what he or she did, but our second night it was open, and still gross. I turned on the jets just to see what it would do, and they Very slowly turned on, and were not very powerful. Even the pool ROOM was not warm. The mattress of the pull out couch was pulling apart at the seams and seemed a bit flat. The queen closest to the window was Misshapen, one edge definitely sagging. It was comfortable, but SO unlike a Marriott to be this... shabby. The tub and toilet were awkwardly put in one room, the "bathroom" sink off the main room. The microwave was ancient. My kids said the blankets smelled weird. The heater in the room was, shockingly, a wall unit. I got down on the floor to look inside bc it did smell dusty (NOT musty though) when I turned on the heat to warm up the room after swimming. Filter needed to be cleaned. Breakfast was not brown bag, but a stretched out buffet of prepackaged things. Could have used more fresh fruit. Surprised it was allowed to be like that. NY Marriotts have a procedure. Staff was friendly. Turn around for requests (extra blankets, etc) was quick. Disappointing that cleaning woman tried to come into our room when we were in it getting ready to leave for our excursions at 10am. 1 of the front desk associates I saw was SUPER apologetic about the pool and hot tub. She strongly encourage me to mention it to the general manager the next morning.i got the distinct feeling that the manager wasn't listening to complaints shared by staff from patrons. My complaint with all Marriotts that I have been to in the last year (4 separate stays 3 different Marriott products) is that desk staff is rarely out front to assist customers. There is a bell to ring or camera that captures a person's presence, but it is ridiculous. A paying customer should not have to beg and then wait for the attention of a front desk associate. What is Marriott having their staff do in that back office? It must be really exciting, and I want in! Also Marriotts seem to have a problem with rust in their pool rooms, both in and out of the pool. I try and close my eyes when I see it and ignore how unkempt makes these...
Read moreThe hotel had experienced a flood prior to our arrival & this did impact our overall stay. When we checked in after a long day at Hershey Park we were made aware of a flood issue. We were tired and just said okay and headed toward our room on the 2nd floor. When the elevator doors opened it looked like something out of a horror movie with plastic lining the hallway and the lighting fixtures ripped out of the walls and furniture displaced outside of the elevator doors. We returned to the front desk asking for another option and were told all of our room type was already booked (we had booked a room with two queens because our group was two adults and two children). I asked for a king room with a pull out bed which they were able to accommodate. I have to say the woman at the front desk was very kind and she was training another very kind woman. They were both very helpful and happily accommodated our requests for a new room. The new room was very comfortable & we were happy other than we do wish we had had two queen beds bc the pullout bed was really a trundle bed (couch with small twin bed on the floor that pulled out from under the couch). Thankfully the two kids were happy on the trundle bed and they slept well. Our king size bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The next morning we went downstairs early for breakfast and with the hopes of swimming. The breakfast would have been really great if the waffle maker was working. They did eventually get it fixed and we were able to have them but it was a big disappointment to the other people and to us that it wasn't working. Overall the breakfast is a GREAT value. Hot eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bagels, cereal, juice, coffee, and waffles. We really enjoyed it.
The last big disappointment was how freezing COLD the indoor pool area and water temperatures were. When you think of an indoor pool, it should be balmy, humid, and warm. The pool area was legitimately cold! & the pool water was freezing! We specially packed our bathing suits and told the kids they'd get to swim and they were very disappointed with how uncomfortable the indoor pool area was. I asked the front desk to turn the heat up in there and explained how cold everything was. The gentleman I spoke to said he'd look into it but we didn't stay more than 35 mins because it wasn't enjoyable.
Generally speaking, this hotel has a lot of potential to be awesome if they address the issues I mentioned. The location in proximity to Hershey Park is AMAZING, the staff was friendly, and the amenities are great if they can get the kinks worked out with the flooding / construction...
Read moreWe stayed Wednesday to Friday for a trip to Hershey Christmas week. The location is great. Quiet but close to park. Check-in was smooth. The hotel is neat and clean. While it advertises as fully renovated there were a few things that would appear otherwise, however I mention this only because I know some people would nitpick that. None of this impacted our stay at all, but I did include photos because I like to stay impartial. We had adjoining rooms, both with trundle pull outs, one king and one double. Idk if the hotel allows it, but we could have easily slept 5/6 in the double room. Wet bar kitchen area with sink, micro, mini fridge and single coffee/tea maker. Desk area, sitting area with tv, another tv in bedroom (double room). TVs have some options to log into streaming providers, but had a good selection of channels as well. Bed was comfy enough with plenty of pillows and extra blankets. Ceiling fan looked outdated but worked like a champ. You have control of the heating/cooling unit and it was easy to adjust temps and even had an option to keep the fan on it running, which I like to do at night. Bathroom separate from sink area which is nice. Shampoo, body wash and hair dryer available so you don’t need to bring them. There is plenty of lighting and plugs/usb outlets. Amazing framed in window shade (for lack of a better way to put it) that blocks out most of the light. I love a dark room and with it and being on the side of the hotel that backed to the woods, it was perfect. I highly recommend asking for a room on the top floor, facing the woods side if you can. Top floor because there is always that family who seems to use the hallway to run relay. The hotel staff is very accommodating. I bought a Pepsi in the convenience area that was impossible to open (not their fault) but they had no issue exchanging it and even gave my daughter a bottled water free of charge for the trouble. Pool area is clean, with towels available. On site small gym. Ice machines on ground floor. Very nice complimentary breakfast with plenty of seating from 6-10am included cheese omelet, sausage, egg and cheese muffin, bagels, muffins, make your own waffle, oatmeal with toppings, yogurt, cold cereals, milk, coffee, juices as well as butter, cream cheese and jams. Hotel also provided a list of places close by to eat. We would definitely...
