We had been here before and did not have issues. Today I bought 2 regular ice creams in dishes. Mine was soft serve watermelon and it was literally 1/4 to 1/3 cup that was flaccid and flat. No peak & twirls as soft serve should be. It tasted like medicine. Oh my God, I wish I had taken a photo, but I was so mad after 1 to 2 spoonfuls I brought it back in. My son's hand dipped ice cream in dish was more plentiful than mine but probably 3/4 cup, which is a measly portion. 2 regular sized ice cream in dishes for $10 and change not worth it . Save your money and get bigger portions at 3B on route 39. They give at least 2 cupfuls of ice cream for $5 or less in a much larger cup. I did get a refund for my ice cream so I give them 1 star credit for that, but this place needs to train the people to serve much more than what they served yesterday. I will go to 3B and show you what a real portion is ! I saved the cup my son had. It is very small and ice cream was at least 1 inch over the top. This was OK in comparison to mine, but not as much as 3B serves. Maybe 50% of what 3B and Rita's serves. I know I will never go to King Kone ever. This is first time in my life I have ever returned food item to any establishment & I've been around world and retired YOUNG.

Great ice cream and expansive flavor options! You can step inside and see all the flavors, or order from their outdoor menu. We went after dinner and we were not disappointed. Cookies and Cream and Strawberry Cheesecake was delicious, Mango Italian Ice, and Midnight Caramel were just what we needed to cap our evening. There is seating inside and out, we found a table inside, as all the outdoor tables were taken. We enjoyed the cool comfort inside on a hot day and signage and decor. Kudos to the courteous staff.

A great place to cool off with awesome ice cream treats! The King Kone has both soft serve and Hershey’s ice cream in scoops! They have an extensive list of flavors, Sundaes, milkshakes, and much more. They also have inside dining and submarine sandwiches! The outside seating area is nice on the warm, sunny days and there is a small swing sets for the kids to busy themselves on. There is also a drive through if you’re in a rush and want to stay in the car!

Beware: Official local government's health & safety 2024 report copied below....

"King Kone Creamery, 182 Hershey Rd. Hummelstown, Follow-up, July 8. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Two female food employees were observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper hand-wash in-between. Observed two employee beverages on the counter where the brownies are held and take out containers are placed. Educated and corrected on sight. Observed two female employees and one male employee in the prep/serve area not wearing proper hair restraints, such as hair nets or hats. Two female food employees were observed grabbing a napkin with an unwashed/ungloved hand and grabbing a cone with this napkin and dispensing ice cream and then handing to the consumer. Observed a tray of chocolate covered waffle cones in the Insignia single door upright freezer in the prep/assembly area, stored with no covering. Observed food ingredient storage containers, in the prep/assembly area, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Any foods removed from their original packaging and placed into other containers must be labeled with the common name of the food. Observed spoons stored in toppings inside the three door Beverage Air cooler with the handles of the spoons touching the food. Observed numerous wet wiping cloths in the prep/serve area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Observed a case of cones stored directly on the floor near the front service window area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed numerous food items (commercially processed and food prepared in the food facility) in the three door Beverage Air under counter cooling unit, and being held for more than 24 hours, is not date marked with the date it was opened or made. Sponges observed in the three bay sink area being used to clean food contact surfaces. Loose/deteriorated rubber door gaskets observed on the Beverage Air cooling unit middle door and in need of repair. Observed silver tape on two handles of the ice cream freezer units and in need of repair or replacement. Observed the following on food contact surfaces: Metal cone shaper near the waffle maker counter with dried food debris and was not clean to sight or touch. Observed a scraper/brush in the drawer under the waffle maker with accumulation of waffle debris and is not being cleaned daily/as used. This scraper brush is coming in contact with the waffle maker, which is a food contact surface and is now contaminated. Observed a black handled manual can opener with dried food debris on the blade and handle, stored in the drawer under the waffle maker area. Two white containers with food contact items stored on a shelf next to the three bay sink area with accumulation of food debris inside and coming in contact with utensils stored. Observed two cloth curtains with dried food debris and dirt on the curtains and being touched by employees when going between rooms. Observed the floor drain under the three bay sink area with a pink/brown/black mold-like substance and in need of cleaning. Observed the interior of the Cadco Unox table top oven with accumulation of black charred food debris on the bottom and is not clean to sight or touch. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in back dry storage area area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor. Observed spatulas, spoons, whisks stored on a shell at the back dish area, not inverted. The food facility does not maintain Food Employee Certification records as required. Posted ServSafe Certification expired in 2020. At last inspection, facility was given until the 30th of June to complete a new certification, which was not completed. Old unused equipment stored in back dry storage area and the shelving by the three bay sink area, should be removed from food facility. Mops are not being hung to air dry."

Honestly they sucked, plain and simple. I was second in line at drive-thru and it took 25 minutes and me going inside the store and telling them that I had been waiting a ridiculous amount of time for them to take our order. Then after 25 minutes and me talking to them we got to the speaker and they said that they don't have vanilla soft serve (the base for all soft serve flavors but chocolate and German chocolate). I work at a Dairy Queen (I've worked there for a year, through summer) and we have never have run out of ice cream. When we have lines out the door (inside the store) and lines to the road at drive-thru we don't run out of ice cream, because as an ice cream and soft serve shop you can't just run out of ice cream. Look at the forecast for the weather to see what the weather is going to be. The weather is not much of a surprise in this age of technology so you should plain ahead for that. Overall this trip wasted 25 minutes of my time, so I would not reccomend King...
