Gets worse by the hour. People are rude but do their jobs. For example, we asked for the wifi but wrote it wrong and when we asked for it again we were told "I already gave it to you."
First I booked a room with with a pool. I missed the sign at the desk that said pool closed the summer of 2015 indefinitely. When I found out in the morning, it was not a make or break it. Just disappointing for the kids who found the pool with a tarp covering it.
The room was fine until the toilet overflowed in the morning. I told housekeeping who told me to call the office. The office called maintenance. Maintenence came in when we were gone and left a trail of water from a mop from the bathroom to front door but I didn't think much of it since housekeeping was still coming. So I just told my kids to put their shoes on and we went to took showers. Since I had thrown the towels on the floor for the toilet, I called the front desk for towels. After explaining that there were no dirty towels to exchange them for since maintenence must have taken them, they told me I should come to the office. I went and one of the two ladies acted like I had was bothering her.
We left for the wedding we were here for and when we got back the hotel went from "ok, I would stay again" to "never again" and "who can I complaint to?"
We got back to find that the floors were not cleaned. There were still the shoe prints from getting in and out of the shower from earlier in the day. I have pictures. I asked for the floor to be cleaned and was told housekeeping was gone for the day. When I explained about the toilet water on the floor the women repeated SLOWLY .... ..."housekeeping is gone. There is no way to clean it." She stated she would leave a note for housekeeping in the morning and I said I would leave one for corporate.
I then went to the office. I asked for a manager or someone who could do something for me. I asked for a refund and I would leave. She said there was no one to help me until tomorrow around 11am. She said she could call another employee and she did. At the end of the conversation with the person she said "I know. I just wanted to call you to see if my phone worked."
I went back to the room to find my son's white socks black! I have pictures. I called again and asked if she could at least give me a clean room. She called me back and said yes but I had to get everything out of the room, walk to the office, give her the room key, and then she would have to check the room before she would give me another room.
I did everything asked. I was given a key to another room. It didn't work. She put it through the machine again. It didn't work. She then walked down with another key. It didn't work. She changed rooms again. Key didn't work there either. She walked down with another key. It didn't work.
Back in the office for the 7th time.. I said how again out the he room 4 doors down with the jacuzzi tub. This is where the snotty head roll and snarl come. "Are you going to pay the difference?" I said no. "Then I am only giving you the room you paid for." I told here to do whatever she needed to.
On the last room, she walked down and checked the key before she assigned the room to me. She opened the door and then closed it. I asked if she could leave it open so my kids could put their stuff inside. "Not until I do the paperwork." If I was not looking at her while she continued to walk, I would have pictured her head rolling as she said it due to the attitude in her voice.
The room was not updated like the first one. The room smelled, etc. But I at least felt better. Besides the questionable guest that the hotel cannot control, I didn't appreciate the gold condom wrapper outside my room door. I have pictures. And I wasn't aware that grills were allowed outside our hotel door. I...
Read moreNo stars. The smoke detected was on the desk when we checked in. The lamp did not work, there was no power in the outlet. I reported the issue when walking back from the store to the young man who checked me in. He came and told me a light bulb could fix the problem. I explained, and showed hime the outlet was non functioning. I asked for another room. He said, I had already been in this one and denied my request.
I needed electricity for my work from the outlet. He left my room. I called an hour later, he apologized and said he could not find light bulbs but would bring towels as I had requested earlier. When he came to the door he apologized for not being able to find a light bulb. 😒 "We don't usually bring towels to the room." I thanked him and shut door and returned to my phone call. Upon waking I called the front desk and requested a new room for my second paid day. I moved all my belongings and children before 10 a.m. I originally paid $200 for two nights via debit card which included a $50 deposit and two nights. Next morning I got an alert for a $45 charge that was denied while I was taking my kids to eat. I called motel 6 to inquire and the woman in the line blurted out, "You removed the smoke detected from the room and smoked in the room. You either have to come give us 45 dollars or leave." I explained my issue and how there was no power and she barked, "He came by with a light bulb but no one answered." I then realized she was just going to lie to try to save face. I was floored. We checked out by noon angry 😠 😡 and frustrated with life. They had $200 of mine and I only stayed one night in a shifty room with one light. Later on I wondered, did they even clean my room before I checked in. If the smoke detecter was on the desk before I checked in that means no one was in there to wash the sheets...from the last person. It smelled like cigarettes when we got there initially. But I thought that was normal for a low grade hotel. I smoke cigarettes, outside. My chair was outside of my room all night cause I forgot to bring it. I sat in it outside, drank a beer and smoked two cigarettes after my kids went to bed. I both butts in a cup inside my room with a dash of water so I wouldn't litter outside. I exclaimed this to miss prissy who explained the attempted charge. Housekeeping found two cigarette buts in a plastic cup and...the rest is history. I paid with my Chime credit card, they helped me reverse the $200 charge. I told them I only owed $45 or $55 for one night. I explained this and they fixed the issue. Thank God for merchant protection from Chime. I learned to any pay for one night at a time after that. Every other motel 6 I have stayed at though out the years has been nice with no issues bit this...
Read moreI recently stayed at one of your hotels in Southgate, Michigan on May 11th and checked out on the 12th. My experience was not satisfactory AT ALL!
First issue was when I arrived, the guy at the desk was NOT polite at all!!! We asked numerous times in person and over the phone if we could see a room before we rented it for the evening and he denied us. He stated he did not have anyone to show me the room and either I wanted the room or I could go across the street to the other hotel. We just got done travelling 14 hours and did not want to deal with another having to take our 2 children to another hotel when they should have been going to bed. So, we dealt with that and went ahead and took the room thinking all was well.
Upon entering the room we were smacked in the face with a strong odor of cigarettes and immediately called the front desk so that he was aware and we would not get charged. His response..."They all smell like that, you will just have to deal with it." So my question is, if they all smell like that, how do you know whether or not someone has smoked in the room during their stay? We do not smoke...so we were not worried about that issue....but seriously...that had me puzzled. Do they just charge people that they have issues with and say they smoked during their stay?
Next, we checked out the room. I work as a Charwoman and reservationist at a resort and I also clean houses on the side. I know the basics of cleaning and not even the basics were done. The bed was half made, the trash was not taken out, there was a used Q-Tip and Paper Towel behind the fridge, the fridge was dirty, floor was not vacuumed, BATHROOM WAS DISGUSTING (We did not even use the toilet or shower while we were there because they were that bad--I took my daughters to the fast food restaurant to use their restroom) and the sink was not wiped down. We also brought this to the night clerks attention and he blew it off.
Finally....it is now almost 30 days after our stay and my deposit was NOT refunded and neither was the refund I was promised for the inconvenience. I AM LIVID! I have taken pictures of the room and have all my receipts and copies and fully intend on moving forward with sending correspondence to the city's health inspector if this issue is not resolved.
Furthermore....we WILL NOT EVER return to that Motel even if our lives depended on it! It is...
