This is a very good place. I would absolutely recommend it. Affordable, clean, and no major issues.
It is significantly better than most motels in the area for a similar price. If you even go down by $10-20 per night, there is a DRASTIC difference in quality.
Here's the good stuff:
The sheets, pillows, towels, room, bathroom, and mini fridge all smelled clean. Non-smoking actually meant no one had smoked in the room. The bed was comfy: squishy enough to be cozy and firm enough to support a spine well. The bedding was soft and warm. Both sides of the bed have an overhead lamp for late night reading.
AC/heater worked well, could be adjusted to turn on the hot or cold air at a specific temperature, and had no unpleasant smell when turned on. A constant fan with no hot or cold air could be turned on as well.
Plenty of plugs for electronics by the desk, the sink, and the bed. Each end table has a small power strip of four plugs built directly into it.
TV and remote worked fine. Plenty of channels for daytime and nighttime entertainment.
The WiFi is a little inconsistent if you move around the room suddenly. Data service isn't that great here so mobile devices may have a bit of trouble. The only time I encountered an issue was when I was walking around the room trying to talk on the phone. It got slightly garbled. Still, it's there, it's free, and if you are not running around the room it can stream video just fine.
The shower whined for about a minute after it was turned on but then it went away. Water pressure was GREAT. Adjustable head so tall people could use it without bending or squatting. Big tub if you prefer a soak instead. The directions for hot and cold on the shower were reversed but I caught on pretty quick.
I was quite happy to see REAL toilet paper. It wasn't the tissue paper you usually see in public places. It was actually decent. Maybe not the softest or thickest but certainly usable without issues or regrets.
Check in was fairly quick and easy. They made sure I had a parking permit so I wasn't towed. The staff members I dealt with were pleasant and helpful. Check out was equally fast and pleasant. They sent housekeeping to quickly look at the room and confirm it was not damaged. I received my full deposit back.
Well-lit parking lot with plenty of spaces. Easy to see my car from the unit.
The lobby has free breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 with waffles, cereal, coffee, etc in the lobby. Didn't check it out though because I like to rise late.
I also didn't use the pool because it's October. It seemed fine when I looked at it through the gate though.
I tried to upload a short video to showcase the lack of sound once you get into the room. It is right next to the highway but once you close the door you can't even hear it. That is WONDERFUL. The only outside noises I can hear are when someone is right outside the door. The soundproofing from the highway is easily my favorite part. It is what I worried about the most when I picked The red roof inn.
The parts with room for improvement:
While the freeway can't be heard, the plumbing from the surrounding units can be heard quite clearly. This isn't a big issue cuz it's only for a couple minutes. I could not hear talking or television sets even from adjoining units.
My room keys stopped working on the second day so I had to get them reset. No big deal. Quick trip to the front desk and they fixed them in under a minute.
The mini fridge has no guard or separate space for frozen items. Things on top, at the back, and sometimes even the bottom will freeze rather than just stay cold. However, anyone who has used a mini fridge is already aware of their short comings. You can adjust how cold it is to mediate this. This is standard and not really an issue, just a heads up.
None of these drawbacks are bad enough to be a deal breaker and none of them are particularly bad in general.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay...
Read moreManager persistently very RUDE to an Elderly US Veteran and Family after car wreck.
The hotel is nice, convenient, and well-priced. The issue was one very rude treatment from an older morning manager (Indian[?] man). 8/22/24, on a drive to FL, I was following a few minutes behind my parents who are in their mid-late 70’s on Hwy 75 S, when they were struck from behind, totaling their SUV, but miraculously, leaving them and their pets unharmed.
I rescued them and their belongings from the wreck site as cars would skid and almost crash into us. By 3:30am, my mom and I finally were done with multiple trips up to the room unloading my vehicle, my dad in his walker, and their pets to the room, we were exhausted. So tired that I accidentally left my vehicle parked and UNLOCKED in the loading zone.
The next morning, I apologized for my mistake and explained to the Mgr about the accident and what we went through, and how I was embarrassed that I left my vehicle like that. I said we would rush to check out as soon as possible but it might take us until Noon to find a rental vehicle large enough to hold all of our possessions and my dad’s mobility scooter on a Friday morning at the Atlanta airport.
However, rather than even convey any empathy, much less offer if he could help us in any way, he was immediately rude to me. Again, I apologized for the mistake and us running behind but repeated that it was due to a serious accident and sleep deprivation from that. All he said was that it was not an accident, and we needed to get out of there. After hours of obtaining an emergency rental and loading out, each time we passed the counter while clearly loading out as fast as possible, he told us we needed to go. Somehow, I kept my cool.
Finally at Noon, sharp, my mom and I got back to the room to wheel out the last thing – my 77 yr old US Veteran dad – Only to find that manager in my dad’s face as he sat waiting in his walker, telling him he needed to get out. Again, NO HELP, NO EMPATHY, just rudely, pressuring him to get out, which my dad could not even hear. Again, I kept my cool and explained what happened, and the “manager”a says “That’s not my problem.” If you can imagine the restraint it took to not slap this guy…but instead, I asked him if he would like a nice review or a negative one. His reply, “I don’t care.” So I asked him his name then, and so he turned and scurried away.
I contacted customer service via the RR website, but 2 weeks later, no response. So finally, I’ll just spread the word. I’m disappointed with the treatment of a US Army Veteran who sacrificed to keep this country free which allows others to come here for the opportunity to succeed.
I would choose a different place to...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed here for a night on our way up to Sacramento. It was the worst experience I ever had staying in a motel. The location is horrible, right in the middle of the hood. I wouldn't suggest driving through the neighborhood much, especially to the left of the hotel if you're standing in front looking at it. Lots of shady looking guys sitting on their stoops staring you down. We went to the Taco Bell drive-through in the neighborhood and couldn't help notice the people were behind glass and slid your food through a bank-teller type deal. Obviously had been held up a few times to have security like that. And not to mention, our door was dented and had clearly been broken into at some point. There was a new lock put on, but the old one was still there and the door was badly damaged. We asked if we could switch rooms because it was kinda sketchy but they said the new lock worked fine. My boyfriend was feeling really sick that night, and passed out shortly after we checked in. I, however, was awake almost all night. I just didn't get a good feeling from that place. I looked out the peek-hole in the door, and the glass was shattered on the outside and there was red on the glass, looked like blood. Scared me so much. While we were leaving the next day, my boy pointed out it was PAINT on the peek-hole. hah! That was kind of funny. Still, kicked in, half broken door in the middle of the ghetto with shady characters all around. I would say, just stay somewhere -- anywhere else, don't stop...
