Waters Edge Motel, Marina & Campgrounds — Hotel in Stoddard

First visit here, the cabin looked clean and well taken care of for the most part at first glance. We were excited to canoe fish and swim with our children. We stayed 2 nights. I will highlight a few things about our stay that I think future guest would like to know.

Outdoors: There is a beach downhill from the cabins where you can find peddle boats, canoes, water floats and a dock. Both Peddle boats were broken one we knew because it was obvious the other we didn't realize until we were in the middle of the "lake" that only 1 side of the peddle boat was actually propelling us threw the water. Both canoes were in such bad shape we didn't go out as one canoe had one ore and the other canoes ores were rotten and taped together. The float toys were in bad shape as well. When we arrived another family was there and getting ready to swim. The lady staying in another cabin said 2 foot into the water was a very steep drop off and she couldn't find the bottom of the "lake" which told my husband and I this was actually most likely an old sandpit. At that moment we knew it wouldn't be safe to swim there with our children. The other issue was there are sand fleas. We were disappointed that the boys really couldn't play much outside due to the lake being unsafe to swim, all the equipment being in very poor shape and then the sand fleas. The boys and I wanted to leave that first night but we stuck it out, the 2nd night we stayed in and watched a movie instead of enjoying the outdoors.

Cabin: Overall the cabin looked clean however when you looked closer or went to use things you noticed neglect. The kitchen had dishes but they all had a weird greasy residue like the last guest didn't wash them well. Pillows on the couch appeared to have holes chewed from a previous mouse/creature and the comforters had surface stains from what I am not sure. Thankfully the towels and sheets appeared clean and smelled clean too, there was a large TV to enjoy a movie one night and the bathroom was clean.

Overall I think this would be a good hunting cabin in the wintertime but definitely not the family get a way we...

Not a great experience. We have been coming for 3 years now and each year it has gone down hill. Rooms were not very clean when we checked in. Between the 5 cabins that our party rented there were dirty dish in the oven, used linen, cobwebs, garbage under beds, and ants. Cigarettes butts EVERYWHERE. Fully furnished kitchens the first year meant everything you needed; this year there were lots of things missing... Fry pans but no flippers or serving/cooking spoons, to mention a few. No dock or swimming area as advertised. This was the big thing that put a damper on the trip as it was the draw for all of us in years past. With a little TLC it could be a great place again, but I'm thinking we will look for a different place to vacation next year as it was a lot to pay for the experience we received vs the one we had in years past and were hoping...
