Lots about this resort was great. The river view, the fishing, the owners, the neighbors in their campers, the clean cabins and grounds, the window air conditioner and two restaurants in Stoddard (200 yds). Plus only 25 minutes to La Crosse. If you want the cabin just for eating and sleeping and then you leave for the rest of the day, this cabin is okay. But, if like me you like to read and watch the river through the big window, not so much. Two drawbacks made me rate this as average. You are RIGHT NEXT to a rail line. Most days at least 50 trains a day go by with horn a'blowing. No exaggeration. In truth, I quickly got used to it and they didn't bother me or my sleep. But that may not be true for others The cabins are very small. Our two bedroom cabin had two very small bedrooms separated by a curtain. One room had a TV but no place to sit and watch. The bedroom alignment made it impossible to comfortably watch it from bed. But my main issue was the living area. The small kitchen and a small kitchen table and cabin entrance were it. No room for a sofa or easy chair from which to gaze out through the picture window to the river. You could sit on the pleasant porch as long as it's not too hot or the bugs don't drive you indoors.

I stayed here w a friend in Aug of 2018 & 2019 and plan on returning in Aug 2020. We fished. I brought my boat and for $5/day rented a slip. Each time we were in a cluster of rooms with a kitchenette a breakfast table to seat 4 and some other furniture, nearly all being beds, lamps and fans. There was one TV and A/C. Our units had old stoves that mostly worked. Some of the newer units have great appliances. I think the cost and what is provided is reasonable and they're friendly. This isn't a place that sends maids to clean up after you every day. At least that wasn't our experience. You're responsible for making your bed and cleaning up your kitchen. You can fish from shore, but this area of the river is so weedy... bring a boat. It's frustrating fishing and not having any luck from the shore. If you get on the river, there are some places you can load the boat, there are other places you can run right aground on a sandbar

What a wonderful place! I stayed in motel room 8, it's more like a 1br apt with a kitchenette than a standard motel room, the views of the river and bluffs are great. Each unit has it's own character, updates have been done where needed, a very clean and well maintained fishing resort. The price is very reasonable for 1 or 2 people, which is why I chose to stay here instead of Lacrosse. The train tracks are close enough that the building trembles a bit when trains pass, but I live in the city and the noise doesn't bother me, but for some that might be a problem.

Location location location.

Beautiful views right on the river. Literally the best location you can get on the river for 50 miles.

Their rates are great. They have a basic hotel. Really nice cabins and even a larger house available.

Boat landing and docks available a few steps from from your door. As well as a fish cleaning station, ana rea for a fire, and a bait shop.

They also have seasonal camper sites and seasonal boat slips. I don't have to move my trailer when the river floods. I never have to pull the camper out. Along with the great views and convenience of having the boat slip right there make Waters Edge the absolute best spot anywhere along the Mississippi River for hundreds of miles.

There's one other thing to mention about the location....

Both sides of the river most parts of the prime shore line are owned by the railroads. A plus is that this makes being out on the river very peaceful and rustic since the shorelines are not full of houses. The bad part is that it makes finding great views and land along the shore hard since there is not a lot of real estate along the shores.

Waters edge is right in on the water. This is one of the areas that the train line runs further away from the shore line.

All of my ramblings is a long way of saying... Waters edge is highly...

We love Waters Edge! My husband and I took a little trip to get away from our stressful lives and headed to the Mississippi River. My husband had stayed at Waters Edge during the past but I hadn't. What a loss! I wish we would have discovered this wonderful place long ago! The setting is gorgeous, the rooms are large and comfy, the tv and wifi work wonderfully, and we have gone to sleep with the sound of bullfrogs calling in the background both nights! I will definitely be coming back with my hubby, but also plan to come back to rent their vacation home with friends! You can spend all day and evening on the river, or you can head upstream to La Crosse and get a fix on museums, restaurants and shopping. Can't say enough in terms of how positive our experience has been. In fact, we got fabulous service last night when we discovered that we wouldn't be able to make it here by 8 but wanted to rent a room. They waited for us to arrive, almost a half hour late -...
