Pros: great location, small size establishment, staff is pleasant, facilities are kept clean, free hot breakfast and aprés snacks of soup, cheese and crackers and cookies, liked the clothes cupboard in the room which gave plenty of space to hold ski gear.
Cons: two cosmetic upgrades would go a long way in improving hotel appearance - first replace ALL the carpets both in rooms and common areas, and then remove all bathroom wallpaper. Guests shouldn't pay upwards of $170 a night in peak season to stay in a room with multiple bleach stains on the carpet and wallpaper held together with first aid tape. Additionally - the refrigerator in our room didn't work even after I plugged it in.
Another con: I don't think the photos of this hotel have been updated in over a decade. The room photos and descriptions are somewhat deceiving. I booked a room listed with a fireplace and a jacuzzi. The fireplace is a gas log heater (not real woodburning fire), and the "jacuzzi" is just a few jets in the bathroom tub. I do feel a bit ripped off by the elevated rate for this room, as the amenities were not as described.
Major disappointments: In addition to.the above, the main, real jacuzzi in the spa area was out of order. Leaving only a small steam room operational in the "spa." There were 2 hot tub jacuzzis outdoors, one of which did was not working to produce hot water. Another issue - the refrigerator in our room did not work. Fortunately their ice machine did work, but I had hoped not to be using an ice cooler all weekend.
Final major issue is the lack of proper groundskeeping. During our stay we never observed any staff treating ice accumulations near the building. Ice melted off the roof and created a dangerous icy patch outside our door, which my husband slipped and fell on. He hurt his back and head. If anyone had bothered to apply ice melt or salt daily in an appropriate manner, this injury would not have occurred.
One last note - I was also surprised to see other reviewers refer to the hot breakfast as the best they had ever eaten. Yes it was cooked fairly fresh but definitely NOT made-to-order as some reviewers stated. There were hot held chafing dishes with scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, pancakes and French toast, and 2 kind of pork meats. Along with juice and breads, and a little bit of fresh fruit. It was nice but don't expect to be bowled over by it.
Overall: if I had paid around $75-100 max I would have felt I got what I paid for. But at almost $200 with taxes, I feel I overpaid to stay in a...
Read moreAwesome hotel for a great price! And Dog Friendly too! The rooms and the hotel itself are definitely a bit on the quirky side but it grows on you. My room had a rose pink carpet, dark blue curtains, dark wood furniture, and off-white bedding :) (breaking all the rules!) The setup, friendliness and location are all really great though! You can enter or exit your room both from the inside of the motel or outside to the parking lot or the second floor balcony if you're upstairs. There is no elevator though, so if you can't do the stairs make sure to get a bottom floor room. The view is spectacular from the property and there's a ton of pretty, well-maintained grass to stroll around on or walk your dog. You can walk back from the rear of the hotel a few hundred yards to a small river and a big covered bridge and then right onto the Stowe walking/biking path. There are picnic tables, cafe tables, and a Gazebo sprinkled about so you can hang out outdoors and enjoy the amazing view of the mountain. The owner, Jean, is super nice and was really helpful during my week-long stay. He clearly loves this hotel and really cares about everyone who stays there having a good time. The pool and the hot-tub looked great and I saw many people using them and having fun. My microwave and fridge worked great, and for breakfast, they take individual orders, which was neat! I did feel like my eggs, bacon and sausage all kind of tasted the same though, like they're all getting cooked on the same flat-top that could use a scrub. But the breakfast spread is still awesome. Besides the cooked items they have oatmeal packets, breads, and a ton of Juice and coffee. I've been traveling in my car for 4 months and the cooked-to-order, boxed up breakfast was definitely a novel idea during Covid and a nice touch. It's less than 10 minutes to most of the stuff in Stowe, and the drive (or bike) is easy. If you stay here, check out Edelweiss Deli, down the mountain road. Great place for sandwiches and beer! I wish I could have stayed longer. The View from the Inn is really beautiful and looks just like all the pictures, except better. Great Experience for my dog and I. Good luck in your battle of wits with the...
Read moreThe Innsbruck is very close to Stowe. We stayed here for one night after our original trip had to be extended due to a snow storm. We wanted to avoid driving in that, and saw that a room was available here. Sean was the one who helped us and he was very patient and helpful! The check in process was quick and it was nice to have an actual key to the room. The room was nice and cozy, you can tell that it was recently remodeled with a bit of a more modern touch. It had comfortable beds, a table, chairs, and benches for meals, a TV, dresser, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker! There were also bathrobes which was nice and came in handy for the hot tub! The bathroom had a nice shower with good water pressure. Towels were plenty, linens were clean. The hot tub was definitely a highlight that our boys esepcially loved! It was cold and snowy, but that didn't stop them from enjoying the tub! There were actually two, which was nice! For those with kids, or those who just want to have fun in between resting and getting on the mountain, the inn also has a small game room in the back. There, guests can play ping pong, giant Jenga, or giant Connect Four. My favorite part of the stay was the food! There are complimentary snacks between 4pm-6pm--tea, coffee, and snacks were a plenty! Snacks included scones, cookies, cheese, crackers, yogurt, and quite a delicious French onion soup! I must have had 3 bowls, it was a perfect compliment to the cold, snowy day. Breakfast was included with the reservation and it was one of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time. It wasn't some dinky ol' breakfast with just muffins and bagels. They served a hearty buffet meal which included deliciously seasoned homefries, crispy bacon, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, blueberry panckes, French toast, sausage, and breakfast staples like oatmeal, cereal, and bagels as well as endless coffee, juice, and water. The perfect fuel to start a day of skiing and snowboarding! Check out was simple--just a return of the key. We're glad to have had an opportunity to stay the one night and would recommend this to others looking to visit...
