Was spending our honeymoon started out in Stowe, my father is sick and was in the hospital due to a bad lung disease. My husband walked outside every time to smoke a cigarette because I do not like being around secondhand smoke. Watching my father he was an oxygen tank every single day to breathe I do not contaminate my own lungs. After leaving the hotel after a two night stay we did not take pictures of the room because it was not up to date and it looked dirty. For the price I wasn’t really going to complain. Just knew that it was only for two nights and we were going somewhere better. Had the breakfast and it made me sick to the point I had to throw up into a trashcan. I tied the bag up because there were no housekeepers in sight. And then I look in my account and I see that they are trying to charge me a $250 smoking fee because the window was open because we wanted fresh Vermont air. The person that runs this place argued with me and told me that these rooms are absolutely perfect. I have never stayed in an absolutely perfect hotel room but this one was outdated small and for me having asthma I noticed that there was dust all over the inside of the lamps. That is why we had the window open to try to air it out to get fresh air circulating into the room. In the bathroom the sink was leaking and formed a puddle so we used one of the towels that we were provided The owner then carried on to say that there was a dirty condom in our room. If we want to go into detail I am on my honeymoon and trying to get pregnant due to my fathers illiness Me and my husband are trying to conceive on our honeymoon. So whatever dirty condom this man is saying that he found obviously they don’t clean the room is thoroughly enough because we do not use condoms. When asking him to see the condom he then changed his story and told us that He wasn’t going to argue with us. And that he needed to hire a steaming company to come and clean the room then we asked for the information for the steaming company and he would not provide that information. Contacted my bank. And spreading the word because I do not want people to stay here and waste their money and get scammed out and deal with such unprofessional and unreliable business owners! I would highly recommend not wasting your money and traveling towards Killington in finding a better hotel that will not try to scam you. He is saying that the room smelled like smoke yet my husband smoked outside because the room was right around the corner from the outdoor door. I would highly recommend not wasting your money and traveling towards Killington and finding a better hotel that will not try to scam you. He is saying that the room smelled like smoke yet my husband smoked outside because the room was right around the corner from the outdoor door. Asked for a camera that would show my husband smoking outside and clearly they don’t have surveillance. Also as other stated the doors locked but they seem very easily to be broke it into if someone tried to the locks are very outdated, There are no railings to get into the hot tub so that is also a safety violation and around the pool is carpeted and I was soaking wet I can almost guarantee there is mold...
Read moreSafety Alert upon arriving in our room, we attempted to lock the dead bolt and despite valiant efforts, the dead bolt is off centered and impossible to lock. We then turned to an adjoining room door and noticed it was also unlocked as with main door we tried, and we were unable to lock it due to it being off centered. We were unaware at that time if that room was occupied as we arrived in the dark. The next morning, we looked over at the window to determine if it was indeed occupied. We noticed the window was open with a fan and saw a washer/drier. Which was assumed that was the laundry room front desk informed us of. Later that afternoon, we stopped back in our room and there were guest doing their laundry, which was somewhat disruptive because of the slamming door. No big deal, as we were on our way out anyways. Flash forward to the next day (last day in Stowe), we decided to go ahead and start a load of laundry before our trip back. Using OUR room key for entry into the laundry room, we began a load and went back to relax in our lawn chairs. As we exited the door to go back to our room, the hotel manager got visibly upset and asked us what we were doing in there. We stated we had started a load of laundry and he started to raise his voice and said he couldn’t have us in there. It was made a point that we saw earlier that guest were using this room, so we assumed it was the laundry room as OUR key WORKED on the lock. Which comes into question, what other door does it work on. Does it work on every door? Is anyone truly safe with their key/lock? Moving forward, we apologized repeatedly as the manager continued to scold us like children, making us feel completely unwelcome and unsafe. We sat in our room after his first meltdown in complete silence as we were in shock to what just happened. An innocent mistake absolutely ruined our last day of your weekend trip. He pulled our laundry out of the washer, still filled with soap, and told us to hang it in our room. Laundry pods were stuck in the clothes and I had to use a sink to scrub the detergent off. Keep in mind, no signage was on door stating the room was off limits to guest. The next morning, he decided to take our advise and put a sign on the door. Our last night was uncomfortable, uneasy, and a huge shock that someone, who paid a pretty penny, was treated as a supposed “guest” of the hotel.
Let me go back to why the lawn chairs were in our room… This specific room was booked so we could enjoy the amenities of having an actual “living room” when we wanted to just relax. The couch was as stiff as a board and there was no position in which you could get comfortable. We finally decided to bring the porch chairs in to have some level of “comfort”.
We definitely plan on reporting this incident to insure the safety of others traveling that are unaware that your key may just work on any door and there is no way to lock your dead...
Read moreWe honestly wish that we could have had a better experience. I do agree with some of the reviews below that the gentleman who owns it seems to become a bit overstrung at times over rather simple things. I understand that it's easy to take things personally. But honestly our first interaction was not very welcoming at all. My fiancé and I called a few hours in advance for an early check in and while the woman on the phone was very nice, when we arrived and rang the bell at the desk (this is also a private home so do not expect it to be staffed 24/7), we were greeted by a gentleman who seemed a little agitated and stated that they were still full and would be “shocked” if another employee said that we could check in early. I understand that mistakes happen but a simple, “okay, no problem… did you speak to someone?... let me go check on that for you” would have sufficed. So, that was not the type of welcome I would expect and left not such a great taste in my mouth. Eventually, the woman that we spoke to came downstairs and apologized for the mix up. Although we passed the gentleman again in the hallway, he never mentioned anything about it.
The grounds are nice but not well lit at all. I am up early to do work and had trouble seeing and like one reviewer said, it’s an uneven walk unless you choose to go on the main road. I definitely needed a flashlight, maybe it's part of the aesthetic? Either way, I couldn't imagine doing it in the winter.
The pool and hot tub is a nice touch. I do like the 24/7 coffee. There seems to be a lot of rules posted around and the language in the signage is rather abrupt, I almost got the vibe that we were back in grade school or not wanted or something. The breakfast seemed okay but there wasn’t a great selection and you have to wait for it to be made so we went out. It's a good thing that I didn't order it because apparently other people had issues over things like ordering a hard-boiled egg, it's simple. Our room was very dusty and small, not what you would expect for over 200 dollars a night and could use an update and a deep cleaning, particularly on the walls. There is a lot of dust. One of the gentlemen I spoke to in the morning, Andy, seemed to be very pleasant and we had a nice conversation.
Overall, I wish we could say it was terrific. I work in the service industry also and sometimes folks are trying to give you feedback so you can be better and handle things in a...
