Last year we went to the Inn at the Amish Door for four days with 15 of our friends. We planned on shopping, eating, quilting, and visiting with friends. We liked it so much that we booked again for this year. There were only a few problems with the hotel: the circuit breaker blew and the people that came up didn’t have a clue about resetting it. We had to tell them how to do it. They didn’t even say thank you. The pillows were hard and there were not extra outlets for charging electronics. I had to unplug the clock to charge my phone. The rooms and common area were very clean, well-maintained and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and had great water pressure even on the third floor. The TV had a variety a channels. (Some hotels only have the basic channels.) There was a fridge in the room. I cannot remember whether there was a microwave. They served a continental breakfast. It was good. They also have places around the hotel to sit and watch the views and enjoy the fire pits. There was one on the balcony off the breakfast room and another on the back patio. The pool was down to be maintained the whole time we were there. We liked the place so much that we booked it again for next year. Where else can you go that is so close to the quilt shops and...
Read moreWe visited for the New Years Eve party. This was our first stay. The pool and hot tub were out of service which was disappointing. I understand things do happen, and we were compensated with a discount for that.
Pros - the staff, the decorations, the food and the surroundings were all wonderful. They did a pretty good job with the New Year’s party and when there were any issues; like seats for the conference room for example, the staff reacted and brought in more chairs. They had surprise fireworks too. Well done!
Cons - the pool and hot tub being out of service. And the beds were so uncomfortable! We had a room with two queen size beds and we tried both beds. The second one squeaked worst than the first! The mattresses were so uncomfortable and the pillows were hard. The rooms definitely need updated or at least the one we were in did. I think we finally fell asleep about 4:30 or so. I don’t know if all of the beds are that bad?
We probably won’t be back. I didn’t get a chance to share the problem with the staff either. So here...
Read moreVERY DISAPPOINTED Inn did not disclose my room view was the parking lot and not the amish country views as described on your website. Inn did not disclose that my room was connected to another room. Inn did not disclose the stairs, and the elevator was directly beside our room. The hot tub was out of order. The pump was not working in the pool, and there were dead spiders lying on the bottom of the pool. Inn did not disclose there is not a microwave, phone, or clock in the room. The headboards are covered with dust and have not been cleaned for quite a long time. (Look at the back of the spindles on the headboards) The first night we were there, the TV did not work.
With all of that being said, the young girl at the front desk (Piper) was very polite and helpful. As well as the lady who was working the breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, I did not get her name.
I was really disappointed that the Inn does not measure up to the standards you have posted on...
