If I was able to review less than 1 star, I would have. Would NOT recommend! Owner is completely heartless! While I understand they have a business to run, there should be some exceptions to their rule for FULL refund...this being a SUDDEN death (aneurysm) of a guest that had a reservation. My parents (one of which is a US Army veteran) had a reservation & the request was made about 1 week prior to reservation for refund..my mom passed 8/10 & her reservation was booked for 8/21. I even offered to send in her death certificate. Anthony, the front desk clerk stated he "understood losing my mom as he had also lost his unexpectedly but they also had a business to run". This business only issued half of a refund for my parents stay. Completely disgusting & heartless individuals!!!
I don't need to visit the area as I was born & raised in the local area before moving out of state. My parents only had a reservation due to my dad's class reunion since he too moved out of PA. Why would I want to reschedule for a later date! Just the fact that you state I'm directing my anger in the loss of my mother just shows the kind of person you are (out of touch & uncompassionate). I especially wouldn't want to do business with your hotel just based on the character of the owner...even if you were the only hotel in a 50 mile radius of my destination. Your complete disregard for human decency & doing the right thing (in circumstances such as a sudden unforeseen death) in this situation is all I & my family need to know about what kind of individuals run this place...not to mention your total disregard for not only retired individuals (most of which on a restricted income & the fact that my father as the rest of my family being veterans/active duty to this day)...says all there is to say about your lack of respect & compassion of our veterans/active duty sevice members. I would imagine with a loss of something like this could be considered as a company loss/write off or absorbed...
Read moreI attended this location for the artist residency program. The inn itself is well-kept — the rooms are clean, spacious, beautifully maintained, and common spaces are inviting, with coffee, snacks, and opportunities to connect with other guests. That part of the experience was positive.
However, several aspects of my stay left me disappointed: • Room change fee: Upon arrival, my assigned room faced the street and felt exposed. When I asked to move to a different room, the owner agreed but required a $150 “cleaning fee,” even though I had only been in the original room for a few hours. As a residency guest (not just a short-term hotel visitor), this charge felt excessive. I even offered to clean it myself, but was still required to pay. • Studio conditions: The residency studio space had poor lighting. The artificial lighting altered color perception, which made it difficult to paint accurately. Natural light was limited, and the building itself felt old and under-equipped for serious visual art work. • Safety and comfort: While the town is quiet, the area near the studio felt uncomfortable after dark. I and other residents often avoided working in the evenings, which reduced the productivity of the residency. • Owner communication: When I expressed concerns privately about how the business handled another guest’s tragic situation online, because they were asking everyone to report it in reviews, I was blocked from both the inn’s and the owner’s personal social media accounts. This left me with the impression that feedback is not welcomed and that issues are not handled with professionalism.
For artists seeking a supportive, professional residency environment, I cannot recommend this program as it...
Read moreWe are so happy we found this place to stay, as we booked a little getaway very last minute. We stayed in The Moser room and it was just enough. Anthony, the innkeeper, was super nice, attentive, and was very responsive via text. When we walked through the main door, my husband said, “this is it? Wow”. We were very impressed by how relaxing the common room was and I liked the added touch of the door plaques for the room names so it’s easy to find your room. The Moser room itself was really clean and had everything we needed. The water pressure….amazing. The Wall AC unit….amazing. Kept the room nice and cold!! We checked out Stokers Brewery and Wabash Bar. Stokers had a great atmosphere and the beer was great. Walked over to Wabash which sits at the corner of the street…couple doors down from stokers. We grabbed some food and just hung out…another good place for some burgers and fries. You will be shocked by the price of everything. $18 for two burgers, fries and two beers! Both are about 11 minutes (walking) from the Inn but I did notice a parking lot across the street if you want to drive. Overall we loved our stay and we cannot wait to come back!! Floors are a little squeaky due to how old the property is so keep in mind when you walk through the hallway…especially at night… it’ll be loud. My apologies if we disturbed anyone around 10pm as we walked to our room.
Saw that our room had a sound machine! It was perfect!!!!!
Ps. The rehab of this place is stunning. They did a...
