Dansereau House — Hotel in Thibodaux

What a huge disappointment this was and did not even live up to the descriptions in our confirmation letter. Confirmation said that our rooms were wheelchair accessible but the elevator had an old out of order notice on it. |There was no one at the property, just a taped envelope on the door telling us to text if we wanted to pay for breakfast the next morning. |The downstairs roomed looked like an abandoned event center with nowhere to get tea or coffee and some half used loaves on the side.|We were unable to manage our cases to the upper floor bedrooms, so pulled a few items and left our cases in the car. |The no smoking deck had full ashtrays and all the seating was dirty or broken. |We did not bother to contact the house manager as it was extremely hot and we were tired and had dinner reservations. |The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean but...

We just stayed at Dansereau House for the second time in 2 years. Obviously, we love it! As others have mentioned, it’s not a hotel; no room service or fancy amenities. But it’s a fantastic old mansion that you can treat as your own for a weekend! Linda, the innkeeper, is completely accessible for any questions; great restaurants in walking distance (and beautiful Cathedral!). If you’re looking for a pampered weekend, this is not your spot. If you’d enjoy sitting in beautiful surroundings, on a relaxing veranda, and harking back to a simpler time, this is for you! We have loved our time here—not fussed over, coffee when we like, glasses and ice at the ready. It’s not in perfect condition, but it’s an old house and very comfortable. Depends on what you’re looking for, but for us it’s perfect! Already reserved a weekend...

Do NOT trust ANY pictures - On Any booking site. The photos are old, making the place look perfect. Fact: The outside is shabby, needs paint & cleaning. The "hostess" did not answer the front door, but taped keys to the back. Once inside, she did NOT show us around or give any info on use of the house. Rooms upstairs were clean. AC worked well, Bed and linens were good. BUT downstairs looked like an abandoned event center! And was cluttered and in disarray. No ice. No glasses. No place to sit with a group except veranda (which was ok in afternoon but not night.) Location was GREAT for dinner. In A.M., hostess very accommodating about changing breakfast time to fit our departure. For this price, this is a HUGE disappointment. STAY...
