If you’re visiting from out of town, you have to eat here. I had the gulf fish meunière with a side of charred cabbage, and an old fashioned cocktail. I highly recommend the fish, it was perfectly seasoned with a slight crispness on the outside but not dry on the inside. The cabbage could use more seasoning but was still very good. The old fashioned was also delicious. The portion size is on the small size so I would order an appetizer as well next time. Service and atmosphere was also top-notch and I look forward to coming back.
Update: I’ve been here many times since my first review. The gulf fish is still a favorite and the Brussels sprouts are my go to. The scallop pasta is usually pretty good, but sometimes the scallops are quite fishy. They have specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It’s usually posted on their Instagram, but not always, and select happy hour cocktails everyday from 4:30 to 6. Even if you’ve been here many times for happy hour, make sure you tell your waiter you want the happy hour version of the cocktail, because I was charged regular prices and told I was supposed to tell the waiter I wanted the happy hour version of the drink. Their old fashioned is still my favorite cocktail, but the Robichaux and baby turtle are also very good. I agree with a different reviewer who said their dishes tend to be very salty, but I have found that to be a problem at most restaurants in Louisiana. John and Joseph are my favorite waiters, they’re always friendly and attentive. Hevin did not offer to tell me about any of their specials, I only found out about them because I overheard a different waiter telling another...
Read moreThis was such a great experience,
Cinclare is in Thibodaux. It is about 65 miles or the same distance to new orleans from Baton Rouge. Cinclare opened in 2016, and this was our first visit. It won't be our last. It is a short get away, and well worth it. We stayed at a local B and B.
Cinclare is an upscale dining experience. The decor was pleasant, and inviting. There were plants at the bar to restrict seating, but we were able to get some of the best craft cocktails while we waited. I had a JT Meleck vodka martini. It is a Louisiana made vodka. It is very clean and smooth. I ask for it whenever possible. I had an old fashioned. But the Bienvenu? (Sp) was a fresh strawberry muddled and strained drink which went down real easy. It was probably our favorite.
The savory cheesecake was the best savory cheesecake I have eaten in a restaurant. The crust was light and crisp. The cake was decadent, light and airy with notes of smoked gouda.
The brussels sprouts were excellent. It was served with holloumi cheese!!! Yes the squeaky Greek cheese that everyone loves. Excellent combination.
The scallops were served in a sauce which made me want more.
The duck confit with homemade gnocchi was perfectly prepared. Crispy and perfectly seasoned.
My wife had the potato flake fish ratatouille. it was very good.
The salad was standard fare.
We tried 2 deserts. The one to get was the German chocolate cheesecake!! Wow !! Smooth rich and impressive.
I recommend this place, and we will be back...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Cinclare for the second time this past weekend. Our first visit was great a couple of years ago, we figured it would be the perfect place for our tenth anniversary. Unfortunately we had Emily as our waitress who made the overall experience quite uncomfortable. Service was slow and every interaction with her felt painfully awkward. The crawfish cheesecake was very obviously burnt, but it took so long to get to us we weren’t going to send it back and wait for another. The sides to our entrees were either cold or kind of bland. The one redeeming factor was that the filet mignon was absolutely perfect. We chocked it up to just being an off night, decided to skip dessert and the other drinks we were planning on ordering, but left pretty disappointed. Much to our surprise when we checked our bank app a few days later, we had a $148 charge pending in addition to what we spent. The waitress never mentioned to us that she accidentally charged us for someone else’s bill. This is a place you could easily rack up a $500+ tab, I think a little more consideration should be used. My husband called the manager who offered us drinks and an appetizer, which is nice in theory, but we have busy lives and a young family. We can’t squeeze that in anytime soon.
All that to say, if Emily is your server, request...
