We just returned from a 4 day, 3 night stay here for the last days of Spring Break. Our room, #4, was a studio on the top floor, which had a king-sized bed and a sleeper sofa. It also allowed pets, and provided special towels just for them, which was great with all of the sand that our sweet dog brought in with her. ||||The view of the offshore Three Arches, from the room's two story windows was amazing. And in the morning, the smell of bacon from the Current Cafe below us on the first floor, was almost criminal :) It did have a microwave, small fridge & drip coffee maker though, which was good because there are only 3 food options in Oceanside, proper: The Current Cafe (open from 8am to 6pm); Roseanna's Cafe (open Thurs-Sun from 3pm to 8pm) and the Blue Agate Cafe (open 9am to 2pm). ||||The bathroom had a wonderful jacuzzi tub and an attached shower with a large rain shower head. So nice! And they provided shampoo, conditioner & body wash in dispensers, in case you forgot yours.||||Check-in & out were contact-less, which was helpful with the pandemic still lingering. Less than ideal, however, was the room entry system. The doors had numeric keypads, and after the reservation was confirmed, a unique 10-digit code was emailed to us. Then each time you wanted to get into the room, you had to enter this code, followed by the # sign. Not great if you've got your hands full, or are wrangling a leash. And it wasn't until we were most of the way through our stay, that we noticed the sign near the door that said you could create your own code by following the instructions listed there...||||Some things that we thought could be improved upon: ||1) There's no place to eat at in the room. With the dog, we were pretty much limited to take-out, and even a couple of TV trays or a small card table would have been great to set stuff on.||2) With the smart TV, fridge, microwave, A/C heating unit, router & lamps, there were no free outlets. We ended up having to unplug one of the two lamps in order to use our chargers. Of note: they do have several USB ports available, but our devices were a different kind than they had. And with the one lamp unplugged, and no overhead lighting due to the vaulted ceilings, it was a little dark at night.||||Overall though, this was a great place to stay while exploring the Tillamook area! Also be sure to check out Tunnel Beach and Short Beach to search for Agates. Tunnel Beach is within walking distance from the Inn, and Short Beach is just a quick drive up Hwy 131...
Read moreWe were in room 5 for 3 days. First impressions were good, even though no one works the lobby and there's no one actually representing the hotel there. The room is basically a big 1 bdr apartment with a nice kitchen.||||But after the first night we realized the following: ||-the counter space around the sink in the bathroom is small and holds basically a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste. We kept most of our things in bags on the kitchen counter.||-the beds suck. They make pretty horrible noise when moving around (springs are likely shot) and have bumps in the middle of the bed (likely a spring is sprung). It needs to be fixed/replaced.||-the AC unit in the bedroom made a horrible metal-grinding noise. It needs to be fixed/replaced. Luckily the living room AC worked fine and we just kept the door to the living room open all night. And why do I even mention the AC? Because the windows don't open, you can't quite hear the waves and the place faces the sun in the afternoon which bakes the room.||||In the room they have many signs up saying to put down your towels on the floor which you want replaced because the maid service would come by at 11 am - 5 pm the next day. THEY NEVER CAME.||Literally had the use the same towels for 3 days and we really appreciated the fact that the signs told us to put them on the floor and then they never replaced them. ||||The last day we also ran out of toilet paper and there was no extra rolls in the unit and none around the lobby area. ||Really tacky stuff here.||||Additionally, they have only about 4 very tight spots reserved for their guest rooms. Well on day 2 an SUV decided to park horribly and take up 1.5 spots, leaving us to find a spot in the neighborhood.||||We sent emails to the management email and didn't hear a thing from them on the parking nor the literal lack of maid service. ||Pretty much this place might have been good at one time but it looks like it was sold a year ago ($1.6 million) and since then I'm guessing they've gone downhill. Sure you have only like 5 rooms but seriously how hard is it to be responsive?!||||Overall we had about a dozen family members scattered around AirBnB's in the area and they all had better experiences and we liked their houses better.||Highly recommend going that route over...
Read moreMy wife and I had a fantastic time in this quaint little town and enjoyed this motel immensely. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and had no difficulty getting settled into our beautiful room which had an amazing ocean view. While it is true that the manager is not on site, we didn't have a need for one. The wonderful gal who runs the ground floor coffee shop, also provides the cleaning service, so she is often available. The office is kept open all night with extra towels etc available.
The town has two restaurants and the coffee shop and that's about it other than the post office and fire department. We ate at both the Blue Agate (breakfast) and Roseann's (dinner) and found both to be delightful. The coffee shop below has all the coffee drinks you'd expect, pastries, plus it has four craft beer taps and wine. It was open to 8pm, but may be open later in the summer. The gal who runs it was a sweetheart. There is no market so be sure to bring whatever "room food" you want or prepare to drive. The beach has a nice mix of sand and rocks, but not much in the way of tide pooling. Good agate hunting abounds on both side of the mountain which has a long and mysterious tunnel connecting the two beaches. Indeed the cell/internet service is spotty at best, but even that was a blessing since it forced us out of our usual routines
The bed was firm, but very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the the jetted soaker tub was wonderful. There is a micro fridge and a small coffee pot with filter wrapped coffees provided.
We have only a handful of special places at the coast and this town and this motel have been added to our list! Thanks so much! ...
