Staying at this motel was a horrible experience.
When we pulled into the parking lot the curtains of the motel room pulled back with 2 pitbulls in muzzles and some weirdo in a motel room staring at us. It was like the beginning to a horror movie. Check in went ok. We made our way up to our 3rd floor room. In order to do so you need to walk through this short hallway to get to the elevator. The hallway looks like the place someone would be murdered. It's grimey and looks like something out of a SAW movie. The elevator isn't much better. It's pretty beat up and gross.
We got to the room which was just ok. I would rate it a medium on the clean scale. Not the worst, not the best. The shower was the only part of the room that was completely gross. It had mold and black all in the grout and seams of the tub. It was a room I could deal with but not one I'd choose again. It was about 5pm and we left to go to a concert at Starland Ballroom.
We came back from the concert at about 11:15pm. We went to go back to our room and found that our key didn't work. We trekked back down 3 floors and went to the front desk where we met employee of the year Leon (I only remember his name because he had his name tag on upside down like a complete do-do bird). We waited for him to check in the guests ahead of us and then told him our key didn't work. He seemed baffled by this and "re-made the key" and sent us on our way. We went back upstairs and the key still didn't work. We can back down now a little annoyed. He again seemed baffled and asked what color the light turned on the door when we scanned the key. We said it didn't turn any color so I suggested that maybe the battery in the lock was dead. He once again made another key and told us to go try it. I was now pretty annoyted and stayed in the lobby while my wife tried it. She called down and said it didn't work. Leon then locked us out of the lobby into the little walkway leading to the lobby and said he'd go try it. He went, it didn't work. He then came back and got tools to go work on it. After about 20 minutes he came back and said he got the door open but the lock didn't work. He apparently got the door open someohow then just left it open with our belongings in there to come get us.
It was now 12am. The whole reason I stayed in a hotel was that I didn't want to be up late to drive home after the concert we went to. By this point I could have been more then halfway home. I was so annoyed at this point that I just told Leon to check us out and not charge us for the night because we didn't want to stay at this dump. He did. We left and took the hour and a half drive home at Midnight.
The thing I found most annoying about this whole situation was the way Leon handled it. Never once said he was sorry or showed any spark of customer service. His attitude was that we were inconveniencing HIM rather then we were being inconvenienced because we couldn't get into our room at midnight.
Moral of the story is this. Never EVER stay at this motel and avoid all Red Roof Inns if they are operated...
Read moreWhen I got to my room, after a few minutes I got a phone call from the desk asking if everything is was okay. It was. But after about a half hour of unpacking, I noticed a dark spot in the corner near the ceiling. I shined a flashlight and discovered it was a Stink Bug. I called the font desk to have maintenance sent up to get it. The front desk told me it's a lady bug, I continued to advise them it was not a lady bug and that a lady bug is small, has a red back with black spots, and that this was a Stink Bug. Then sent someone up to get it. Next I had the refrigerator set on 3, and still when I got home, I threw out any food I brought except for drinks, because the fridge did not get cold enough to keep things fresh. The bathroom initially smelled like mildew and the room and it's features, bed, curtains, sink, walls, toilet, shower are all outdated and could use an upgrade for sure. Later one that evening as I got ready to sleep, and then heavily, heavily the next morning, a strong smell of weed was noticeable in the bathroom. Practically made me sick. I had an event during the day, at a neighboring hotel, so was not there much, but upon returning back, that smell was still there. Also, the grounds, (any grassy areas I tried to walk my dog on to potty) I myself had to watch as previous customers had not picked up their dog's feces etc. While that may not be the responsibility of the hotel, other pet owners who book should be advised, and this is one of the primary reasons I would not recommend. Also, there was a disrespectful customer, who was not aware of their car alarm going off for about an hour or so in the parking lot. Finally it seemed to stop and I took my dog out for a potty break. While walking back to our room across the parking lot, (some 10-15' away from) cars parked. The car alarm went off again, (it is possible the owner was purposely triggering it to scare people and watching from a nearby window); while it's not the responsibility of the hotel staff at all, some people don't have respect for animals as they obviously did not have any idea how much, (similar to fireworks) it can freak a dog out. Finally, I noticed a strong smell of weed outside too, while walking. So much that I had to come back and look up laws as I am not from this state, so maybe it's legalized here. It is not. Lastly, I booked two nights, Friday to Sunday, due to an all day conference 8-4:30pm, and a 2.75 hour drive home. I left on Saturday, I could not stand another night there, I just couldn't do it. I packed my dogs up and left, yeah, it was bad and I would not recommend, unless you...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of looking for a hotel when I was already in the area and didn’t have time to check out the area and reviews first. Because of that I ended up paying over $300 a night to stay at the latitude, which was next-door. The next morning, I noticed this hotel, actually motel, to the right and from that vantage, it didn’t look bad and was less than half the price of the latitude. So I went over to check it out: sure it was dingy looking, but I figured it was a red roof in how bad could it be. I went in and talked to the manager and said that I would like to view The rooms before I paid because I would be staying for a week. He told me that they were all dirty and he didn’t have any to come back in a couple hours. That seemed reasonable so I left as I was leaving. I saw a couple packing their car to leave and I asked them their thoughts on the Hotel. I could tell by the woman’s face that it was a no the man said it was OK and would do if you were just sleeping there so I thought well OK so I went back inside to the manager and said OK let me pay for it and he was actually hesitant and told me he wanted me to see the room first before he took the money. And that he would hold the room until I came back. Upon leaving there was another couple that was checking out, and I asked them the same thing they were much more critical. She looked at me and said “got a gun?“ They had been there for a few nights, and they told me first of all that I would not be safe, especially if I was alone, and I would have been for some of the trip, That the floors were filthy, and you couldn’t walk on them barefoot - They were always damp and the place reeked of must and mold. The woman got out of the car to go inside of the lobby, and I happened to notice on the other side of the car was a man standing there smoking a joint right in front of the lobby door. He was very seedy looking. I looked at her -She looked at me and at that point I knew I was not coming back...
