Needing a place to stay for the weekend, as we had multiple events going on within a 20 mile radius. The Attican had the best price and good reviews so we went with it. We arrived mid afternoon on Friday 5/31/19 for two nights. There is a box with a phone that you pick up to call the clerk, but he saw us coming and met us at the door, holding it open for us. He was very polite and courteous. Check in was quick. The room was super clean, large, and bright. ||||I usually do ask, but this time I did not inquire about accessibility when I booked the room; I really need a handicapped accessible room. Although there was only a small step up into the room which was fine for me, it was the bathroom that was tough. The toilet was very low so it was difficult for me to get back up and there was no seat in the tub/shower. Although I didn't need to bring my scooter in for charging this time, there was a long, low dresser that would have made it impossible to get my scooter in the room anyway, or for anyone to get in with a wheelchair. I would suggest a smaller dresser or an upright dresser to solve that issue. The other issue is in regards to the bathroom door. It opens in towards the bathroom and hits the toilet which means you have to go in, turn around, shut the door to get to the toilet or shower. A few ways to fix this would be to have the door open into the room instead, or what would be really nice is a pocket door or a door on a rail like what you see on a barn. It would give the room a nice warm country feel. ||||Aesthetically, the room could have used a decorator's touch. It wasn't an ugly room, but a little facelift with some pleasing artwork and functional furniture would have made it a really nice room. Also, for ADA issues, the beds would work much better if they were on the opposite wall, giving one a straight entry from the door all the way to the opposite side of the room. Especially helpful for someone using a walker or other mobile aid. ||||As for the outside, the property is very neat and clean, but a fresh coat of paint on the room doors with new numbers on the doors would make this place even more appealing. ||||All in all, if you are looking for a quiet motel in a small town setting with comfortable beds and amenities, like a small fridge and microwave, nearby restaurants, farmer's markets, and many other things to see and do, then I would highly recommend...
Read moreI have to start by saying that when we arrived at the Attican Motel, I was in dire straits. I had just stayed the night in my rental car because the previous hotel had sprayed chemicals on the carpet to mask tobacco odors. My Husband slept like a baby in that toxic room but my lungs took a hard hit and were severely burnt. It was a very scary incident and of course the minute we could leave, we did. ||I randomly picked the nearest motel to our family's home. And that is where I met the kindest owners. I explained to them about the chemicals and how sick (and exhausted) I was. They assured me that they do not use chemicals and have a strict no smoking policy (thank you!). AND that I was assured rest because it was very quiet there. They weren’t kidding! Quiet, clean, super comfortable bed, pillows, spacious room and bathroom, beautiful view! They made fresh coffee daily for us. They were considerate of my need for healing and rest. ||I will never forget their kindness, genuine concern and hospitality. Will definitely return when we visit again. Thank you so much! The world needs more loving, compassionate people like you guys in it. ||*Photo included of my view outside of my...
Read moreOld ac system from probably the 80s or 90s, the bathtub had some hair in it. No coffee, no iron. I booked two rooms at last minute, they had me pay 230.00 for each room and also they had the audacity to take a 40.00 deposit. One room had two queen beds and a beetle was under one of the pillows, old ac, no coffee, no iron. The other had just one queen bed, no iron, no coffee, and the freezer smelled of rotted meat. Think about it, 460.00 total, for two bedrooms no coffee, the tiniest toiletries ever and then, to make matters worse, you take a 40.00 and search the room in front of me before I leave? Are these people serious? You won’t give me my 40.00 bucks until you search the rooms so you can make me feel like a thief ? You are thieves and scammers and negative opportunists for ripping me off 430.00 for rooms that only deserve 70 bucks each. Why? Because I booked last minute? It still shouldn’t reach 430.00. I will advise any person to book ahead for any hotel, because they might end up like me and come across a hotel like this that rip people off for a living....
