I am so disappointed with this campground I could cry. My family has been loyal RV campers to Clute campground for 7+ years. We are even on the list for a seasonal. Every single year, YES EVERY SINGLE YEAR, on January 1, we send in for our reservation requests because my family has a seasonal RV site there and we like to make sure we are close to their site. We always request the site across from them, but say we will take whatever is near. Being we book so early, we have NEVER had a problem. In fact, over the years, the former owners/managers have come to know us and often gave us the same site every year. It was always wonderful. Now, in truth, this campground is nothing to brag about. Especially in comparison to the many campgrounds we have stayed at, including the beautiful Watkins Glen State Park and KOA just a hop and skip from this campground. It truly offers nothing special and the grounds themselves are pretty tight and bare. However, you are across from Clute Park (a rather dangerous crossing I might add), but has fun events and a nice park. You're walking distance from everything, you're in beautiful Watkins Glen, and you're at the base of the gorgeous Seneca Lake (they do have a boat launch and dock). So, location, location, location is why they charge the insane prices for what is a very tightly packed trailer park. And why we pay it. For us, it was also the the people. My family is there, we've gotten close with many other seasonal campers too, and the former owners and managers were wonderful. This campground is now under new ownership and this past January 1st when we went to book our usual Clute Park trip, which is not on any holiday or anything like that, we were told we cannot stay in or around the area where my family is. Not only that, we were placed clear across the campground from them. Literally could not be placed further from my family's camper. Horrid customer service. 6 months prior booking and you can't get us anything near my family? That is complete lies. If you look at the campground map, my family RV is lined on the outer perimeter of the left side of grounds, he put us in outer perimeter on the right side of the grounds. We have 2 very old dogs and a 5 year old little girl. Being near my family's camper was the largest appeal of staying in this campground. It is why we go there. To be close to them. To camp with Grandma and Pop-Pop. I am just disgusted. We have not only been loyal customers yearly to this park, we often come multiple times a camping season. In fact, we have another Watkins trip planned for this camping season, but because of this nonsense we booked up at the KOA Watkins Glen instead of Clute for our second trip. We have also decided after this Clute Park trip, even though my family is there, we will no longer be going to Clute Park Campground. For the ridiculous prices they charge, we would rather spend our money at a campground that offers better amenities and treats families as more than just dollar signs. So...
Read moreAn awesome gem in the middle of Watkins Glen and wine country. Skip the KOA prices and distance and come to clute memorial! Craig at the front desk was incredibly helpful. Everyone that worked there was delightful. They kept the bathrooms clean which was great. There were some small spiders and mosquitos but that’s expected. My only issue was the doors lock on the inside of the family/accessible bathrooms but when you leave you can open them while locked and easily forget and pull it shut and lock it. That happened while we were there that someone locked it and we had one less bathroom. The campgrounds were level. You are right across the street from playgrounds and walking trails and Seneca lake. About a mile from town and can walk to it easily. Walmart is right next door, too, so easy access if you forgot something. The prices can’t be beat and being that this is also a seasonal campground people take great pride in it and care...
Read moreThe campground itself is small and has few amenities but across the street is the wonderful family park with many options. A short jaunt on the crosswalk brings you to W.W. Clute Park which has a small beach with lifeguard stand, lots of playground equipment, a large pavilion perfect for a family reunion or club meetings, horseshoe pits, tons of shade, grills, picnic tables and benches with an outstanding view of Seneca Lake. The campground is also conveniently located adjacent to the Glen Harbor Marina and boat launch. Lots of fast food and full service restaurants, Walmart, and other shops are within a mile or two drive. The campground only has two showers but they are clean and equipped for wheelchair access. There are no laundry facilities but there is a laundromat nearby in town. The sites are gravel and fairly level. The WIFI is better than most and the cable brings in many stations. My AT&T service gets full bars...
