The Manor is a hilltop oasis in the heart of Montauk. The entrance, main lobby, fireplaces and piano transport you back to the roaring 20’s when the hotel was built. You immediately feel old world opulence the moment you walk through the main doors.
I have been coming to the Montauk Manor since I was 4 years old in the late 80’s. As an adult, the stay is nothing less than perfect. The staff is amazing and accommodating. The property is always well maintained and clean. They have a variety of rooms to choose from to suit your party size, budget and taste. Every room comes with a fridge and small kitchenette, perfect for leftovers or if you want to do a light food shopping at the beginning of your trip. Very kid friendly with complimentary pack and plays upon request. The rooms are modern and come with cable TV.
The outdoor pool is oversized & heated and remains open until Columbus weekend. The indoor pool, sauna and hot tub have been completely renovated. There is a spa on sight, by appointment only.
If you decide to go to the beach, they will provide you with a day pass to park at places that require a EH parking pass, which is super convenient.
Perched on-top of one of highest points of Montauk, you get picturesque sunsets and amazing views of Fort Pond bay, with an amazing outdoor lounge area to soak it all in.
The restaurant in the lobby, Monty’s, has a great team and serves up the tastiest breakfast and lunch items. You can also stop in for a fresh cup of coffee and a pastry to go. Dinner will also be served in the near future as they just got their liquor license. The owner is very friendly and personable.
One of the best features; the parking. It is abundant and readily available. As opposed to a hotel in town where you are in constant fear of not getting a spot or worrying about a door ding due to the tight parking. If you take pride in your car, this is the place for you.
Another amazing feature, the free shuttle anywhere in Montauk. The only place they don’t go to is Gurney’s, not because of the competition, but because it’s a nightmare to find anyone on that property and to get in and out is problematic. Take the free shuttle to your favorite restaurant, tip the driver well and you still save time and money as opposed to a taxi or Uber. The shuttle will provide pickup up until 10:30pm.
I suggest booking directly through the hotel instead of a third party website. This will greatly increase your odds of getting a bottle of wine or fruit basket when you check in!
Just so no one thinks the Manor paid me for this review, here are some criticisms. Criticisms, NOT complaints.
The rooms are clean and modern, but I feel the hallway carpets and paint could be updated and cleaned. I also feel that Bell Hops can be more readily available to help with your luggage. I find myself utilizing the luggage carts more so than the staff does.
The indoor pool has been under construction for over 3 years now, they claim getting permits were the primary delay. They claim it will be reopened soon.
You’re not allowed hard drinks in the pool area and they have never allowed any of the restaurants to provide poolside drink service either. Even bottle and drink service to the rooms would be amazing, but it is not allowed. I feel this hinderance is why there is so much turnover with the restaurants there. The manor and the current restaurant lose out on a tremendous revenue center by not allowing it. This is a decision made by the Manor, not the current or previous restaurants.
Stock up on your favorite beer, wine and booze and keep it fresh in your fridge.
I loved it as a kid and I still love it. You won’t be disappointed...
Read moreThis is our first visit to the Montauk Manor in over a decade. After Montauk was invaded by the Wild 20 something Hamptons crowds back around 2012 we sought quieter refuge in another resort area for our annual getaways.
This year We decided to return to our favorite summer vacation venue and we are glad we did. The Montauk manor has always been a unique Lodging option in Montauk. It’s also a registered historic site and captures the charm of the Gilded age race to build Long Island mansions .
The Manor is comprised of many Condominium units , privately owned , and rented through the Montauk Manor as a hotel property. Each unit is unique although there are layouts that are repetitive throughout the property . These include Studios, one bedroom units and multi Bedroom Units in various configurations and sleep capacity.
On this trip we chose a two bedroom 2 bath Lofted unit . This included a kitchen with smaller appliances than the typical home but was well equipped with pans, utensils a fridge freezer , 4 burner compact electric stove, microwave, and even a dishwasher. A full kitchen table that seats 6 , shelves and additional storage and counter top unit .
Two bedrooms including a comfortable king size bed ,A queen bed and a pull out bed in the couch of the loft style living room overlooking the kitchen. A Very comfortable and clean unit .
The hotel itself is very clean and well kept and sits atop a hill 5 minutes away from the bustle of downtown Montauk. The grounds are Landscaped beautifully and trash free . Gas and charcoal BBQ’s with picnic tables are also available and in perfect working order. A nice amenity for families that need to feed those kids on the fly, or a nice family dinner outdoors. Also available on the grand lawn ,where people gather for sunset ,are couches And comfortable seating for groups to gather. There are tennis courts too as well as a gym.
The property is quiet but accessible and there is a shuttle service available to anywhere around town - except Gurneys. We utilized the shuttle and went out for cocktails and dinner . No worries about driving and parking during the busy season. The service was flawless and prompt. There is an outdoor pool area , as well as an indoor pool and hot tub. The indoor pool facilities also include locker rooms and showers ,as well as sauna units . This entire area was recently renovated and having seen the old Facilities years ago this is a remarkable improvement In materials and style . Kudos to a job well done .
The front desk is managed by a very knowledgeable group of people that have all the information about Montauk you will ever need . Patty helped with our reservations and check- in and provided a warm, welcoming demeanor and awesome customer service . Please give her a raise! She deserves it .
All in all we LOVED our return to the Manor after many years away . We will be back again soon. After 5 days in Montauk I can honestly say the wild Hamptons crowds have moved on And the Family Vibe is alive and well once again in Montauk, especially at the Manor. Thank you again for a wonderful, peaceful Summer getaway at your...

I came to celebrate my 25th birthday in Montauk this Friday - Saturday with a friend and I'm just shy of 25 (bday is 2/27) I did not know or see Montauk manor having a rule of needing to be 25+ to make the reservation or any other age related rules or restrictions until after I had made my booking and got to that confirmation page.
I immediately called and explained that it was just us two girls, I was turning 25 several days later and that the friend I was traveling with was 26 herself. The woman I spoke to on the phone could not have been nicer and she said there was no problem and she'd make a note in my account.
Upon check in - we were not greeted with a hi or a welcome. We were asked "what can I help you with" and upon checking in and giving our ID's and a credit card were told "just so you know we typically have a 25+ reservation rule" and when I explained that I was 4 days shy of being 25 and had called and there should've been a note in my account / reservation, the lady simply said "oh yeah I know I saw it". I'm just not sure how this comment was even necessary if I'm traveling with someone that's 26, I'm turning 25 in 4 days so I can't possibly come back at under 25 and we're just two girls not a group of 10 rowdy people or several "under age" people. Then as a conclusion this check in person says "just be careful not to disturb the other guests."
I'm disgusted with that experience and it made the rest of our stay very uncomfortable. We were back from our activities at 8pm and went to bed and were asleep by 10. We were then up and out by 845 am to get to a workout class. We were barely there and the little time we were there we were made to feel so unwelcome by this worker :(
If anything I typically am disturbed by the families in hotels around me - being woken up late or early by crying babies or energetic kids. It's the dead of winter there are no clubs open and regardless of any of that it's incredibly frustrating to be someone that works 2 jobs and is in grad school and had to grow up at a very young age bc of personal life experience just to be treated like a child not worthy of this little break from life and responsibility. Moral of the story - if you work in hospitality you need to be hospitable.
The location is incredibly outdated and being given a plastic bag with our tv remotes and a bag with our receipts for express check out on the door handles is all so tacky. It's Montauk and it's not 1980.
This could be such a wonderful place and experience but a lot needs to be updated & maybe there needs to be more training on...
