After coming here annually for years, this visit would be my last. The service was atrocious. Walking in we were greeted and seated promptly, but the service ended there. After one employee got our water, another individual who we later learned was our server (he never introduced himself) asked for our order. He was not welcoming or helpful, but instead made us feel rushed as within the first 5 minutes of sitting down he came back asking for our order THREE times. On the third visit we decided to start with two appetizers and he responded curtly that he needs the entire order to put in at once. It wouldâve been helpful had he introduced himself and explained this earlier. So, we quickly decide on entrees. I order the burger and he responds âHow?â I am confused what he is asking, so I repeat âthe burgerâ. He repeats condescendingly, âHow?â I then realized heâs asking how I would like it cooked. I also asked if I could be on a separate check as I was the only one in the group not drinking and he responded bluntly NO. We were a party of 4 so unsure why he was unwilling to bring 2 checks but fine. I figured out the math and he took my payment separately at the end. From there, the food came out super quick which was great, but he never came by to ask if everything came out ok. Instead, halfway through our meal there were numerous attempts to take half full plates off the table which was disruptive and made us feel rushed and anxious. Possibly the most ridiculous moment of dinner was at perfect time as the sun was setting and the sky was beautiful, the server decides to take a break, standing directly in front of our table (back towards us) blocking our tableâs view of the sunset. After the sunset, all the visits to the table abruptly stopped then it was impossible to get a last drink or dessert order in as he never came back to check in. Instead, the check was dropped off without asking us if we needed anything else. The whole experience, his attitude and tone ruined what shouldâve been a relaxing meal catching up with friends. This type of person who is clearly miserable should not be in a client-facing role. There are many other dining options in Montauk offering waterfront views and sunsets, namely Crows Nest which has a better menu and superior service. I will not be back...
Read moreVery disappointing experience.we are visiting from New York and staying in Heaven Montauk. To celebrate our 32 nd wedding Anniversary our hotel recommended Navy beach and made a reservation at 8.30pm Sunday.we reached little early as we heard that sun set view is beautiful to watch there. As we approached the front desk we asked the reservation and was told the table was ready inside ( request was for outside) . But we could understand. We politely asked since we had half hour we could grab a drink and hang out side to view sunset and take few pictures. The girl rudely said they are trying to seat everyone and prefer we take table now. So imagine right away it ruins your evening but me and my wife walked outside towards beach and told the attendant we will be back at 8.30. Now we were taking some pictures and watching sunset when this so called security guy approached us very aggressively and said wear the mask. We told him about taking some pictures and we are keeping distance and will wear the masks soon we are finished and brought to his attention that out of 70/80 guests outside half of them were not wearing masks. So why you picked us.Now the worst. Instead of being polite he angrily said you can go to some other place. That was enough. My wife told letâs leave as this kind of behavior from hospitality industry and a famous restaurant is not expected. I owns one of the best rated restaurant in New York over 25 years. Have never trained my staff to behave like that.Today you are popular bc of your location but believe me this kind of high headed/rude ( no accommodation) behavior brings business down rapidly.I regret that I chose your place but still wish you all the best and hope you guys give your staff proper training being in the hospitality...
Read moreAs a proud self proclaimed 'foodie' , & very experienced Chef , I was quite disappointed in the overall experience. Yes, the sunset was spectacular, & I do not use that word too often. There is probably no better location in the east to watch the giant orange sun disappear into the horizon. I would absolutely recommend watching it at least once from this vantage point. My negative issues are all directed at the restaurant. We had to accept the only reservation they said was available for us which was 5:45 on a Tuesday. When we arrived, the place was empty. We were the only ones in there, & when we left after 8 pm, it was only 1/2 filled. We easily could have been given a later reservation, but that was not my biggest complaint. We had to order the entire meal right from the start. Instead of allowing us to take our time & enjoy our cocktails & appetizers, we felt rushed right from the start. & we were the only ones in side at the time. The food was at best , not bad. The small portions were not proportionate w the elevated prices. I do not now, now ever have minded paying a premium for a meal I can walk away from & say ' Wow that was great' ! That definitely was not the case here. Then to boot, for dessert course, we ordered coffee. After 5 minutes, our polite & friendly waiter came back & said ' we are out of coffee'. I have been working in restaurant's for over 30 years & have NEVER had to tell that to any one of our guest's . He said I could give you cappuccino if you'd like ? We didn't know we were going to be charged $7 each instead of comping us for their lack of proper management, especially since our bill was north of $425 for 4 ppl. Overall, the best I'd give the place is a 7 out of 10 based on food & dining...
