Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club — Hotel in Town of East Hampton

Worst accommodation we ever encountered. We booked a room on Hotels.com for two nights with "Pay at checkin". Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club charged the full amount immediately and Hotels.com poorly trained agents were vouching that it is not a charge but an authorization. The charge was completed the next day and Hotels.com called Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club to ask for an explanation, and Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club told the Hotels.com agent that they would refund the charge, and we would have to pay again at checkin. Basically, Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club is using Hotels.com platform to lure guests in, but they don't want to pay commission to Hotels.com, there is why they want the payment to be made directly to them, but they are still assuring the guests will show up by charging the full stay immediately after booking, making Hotels.com looking like fools for stating that the pay will be made at the hotel and $0 are due when the reservation is made. That's not all, Hotels.com have no idea what is the amount Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club have charged using Hotels.com. We've called Hotels.com and chatted with their agents several times, asking for a refund and cancellation of this shady reservation at a shady managed place, but Hotels.com agents said that they cannot issue a refund before talking with the Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club manager to let them know what is the amount they've charged. Of course, the manager could not be found the entire day. I would not stay at Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club if it was free, and I will refrain from using Hotels.com in the future. We had a great stay at Ocean Colony. The mobile check-in was super easy and contactless. The property was even prettier than we were expecting with lovely flowers and landscaping. Our unit was clean and cozy.. a bit dated but in a cute, beachy sort of way that was just perfect for us. Some basic amenities (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, makeup remover pads, dish soap, coffee maker). We loved having the kitchenette so that we could cook meals at home. However, there weren't any kitchen staples like oil, salt, pepper, etc, so be sure to bring those if you plan to cook (same with coffee and coffee filters). The two twin beds upstairs in our unit were a bit cramped for adults (although totally serviceable) but would have been perfect for kids. We loved our balcony and had breakfast out there every morning, and we were lucky to have gorgeous sunset views. The real selling point is the location right on the beach. Absolutely loved the cabana service -- you get a text in the morning and can book chairs, umbrellas, and towels to be set up for you. The beach isn't too crowded and is absolutely beautiful. Be sure to bring some cash to trip the amazing staff! Montauk is just a short 8 minute drive away, and we loved the hiking in the area. All in all this was a perfect place to stay. As long-time guests of Ocean Colony Beach Resort (10+ years), we’re deeply saddened to see the drastic decline in service quality during our stay this summer. Despite the rising room rates and additional fees, the service we once valued has deteriorated significantly. We were promised daily housekeeping services but received none of them—no vacuuming, no regular towel replacements, and no garbage removal. While clean towels were provided upon request, they were not replaced proactively, which was a significant departure from the usual service.|What’s even more disappointing is the management’s complete lack of response. Onsite management appeared unresponsive to our concerns during our stay, and PMI Property Management, responsible for the resort’s overall operations, has been equally unhelpful. Upon checkout, we were assured a credit for the added on daily cleaning fees, but weeks later, after countless follow-up calls and emails to the onsite Manager Dean, we’ve received nothing. Calls are unanswered, emails ignored, and promised callbacks never happen.|It’s disheartening to witness what was once a cherished vacation spot fall so far in terms of service and customer care.
