The 300-year-old Brinckerhoff Inn was a serendipitous find combining American history and good old-fashioned comfort amid all the riches of the local Hudson River towns.| We were looking for a relaxing getaway but ended up with much more: the Inn can boast of-- among other things-- being George Washington’s headquarters during the war and providing a place for the Marquis de Lafayette to recuperate. | Bob, the Innkeeper renovated the old house with much loving care. The rooms are beautifully appointed with very comfortable mattresses and luxurious soaking tubs. The décor—from antiques to artwork to wallpaper and window dressing-- make it an elegant venue and also honor the home’s antiquity. And everything is immaculate.|Bob’s breakfasts were memorably delicious as they were served up with stories of the Inn as well as those of his own fascinating past. And anything we needed was produced immediately by Bob or Gail, including dinner reservations at the very romantic Italian restaurant, Aroma. |We were very sorry to have to leave and will miss Bob’s warmth and wonderful story telling. It's great place to discover and a great place to...
Read moreWe recently spent a long weekend at the Brinckerhoff Inn Bed and Breakfast in Fishkill, N.Y . This is a 300 year old house which has been carefully restored to its former historic beauty. There are 9 bedrooms ,each with its own newly-renovated bathroom (and its own heat/air unit.). We were served an amazing (and delicious) breakfast in the bright and charming dining area, where we enoyed meeting other guests. There is also a small pub area for evening cocktails with an adjoining game room. In warmer weather you can relax on the patios or enoy the outdoor pool. Since Fishkill is an area of significant Revolutionary War history, the rooms are named for historical figures. (We slept in the Marquis de Lafayette Room). We were given lots of very helpful information on local restaurants, hiking trails, and the many historical sites within an hour of the INN. (Bear Mt, West Point, Roosevelt estate, historic Rhinebeck, etc). If you are looking for a unique experience which combines comfort and history and HOSPITALITY, I definitely recomment The...
Read moreI have never in my life experienced anything as horrible as this one. I reserved the room in this hotel from Expedia. It said that the room had shared bathroom, which was fine with me. I proceeded with reservation. Right after the room was reserved my card was charged $224.25. Couple of hours after reservation I received a call (from the owner I assume). Not only he did not apologize for inconvenience, but he also blamed me on booking THE WRONG ROOM. It did not have a bathroom and therefore he cancels the order. The owner said he returned my money to my account. Week later, no refund appeared. I contacted Expedia on the matter. A day later they email me telling that the owner refused to give a refund due to his policies!!! Policies??? under which I've never signed!!! What this owner does is called fraud. The advertisement was incorrect, charges taken right after booking and never returned even though promised!!! I am not even mentioning the ruined weekend. This "business" needs some serious...
