Hancock may not be the number one tourist destination in the state of New York, but if you are lucky enough to have reason to pass through it, as this weary traveler did, you can uncover a few hidden gems in the area, one of which is The Upper Delaware Inn Motel. Surrounded by a backdrop of mountain scenery and located in a village that is a nature lover's and fisherman's paradise, I rested comfortably after a long, tiring bus ride. My room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated in simplistic decor and nature-inspired paintings. I was just steps away from the Hancock Cinema and what used to be the old baseball bat factory. And for those history buffs and avid readers like myself the Zane Grey Musuem is a short drive from the motel. Plus you couldn't ask for a more hospitable staff! Added conveniences: there is a Dollar General and a Family Dollar store across the street, as well as a gas station, convenience store, and McDonald's. The Shortline busline stops across the street, also, providing service to NYC on a daily basis. So you have everything readily available at your fingertips. It may not be the #1 tourist destination, but once you discover it, you'll realize it's...
Read moreMy best fishing buddy and I have been staying at the Upper Delaware Inn for over 20 years. It's close to the West Branch and Main Stem of the Upper Delaware River - probably the best trout fly fishing on the East Coast. Two years ago we had a bad experience with an employee at the front desk and I vowed I would never stay there again. I also wrote a very bad review with a one star rating. The following week, the owner called my buddy and told him if we came again we could have a free night. Shortly after that, my friend got sick and we didn't fish for two years. We'll, thank God, he is no longer sick and he made reservations for us to stay here again. And when we arrived, a wonderful young lady at the front desk, (the other person got fired) and she called the owner and he remembered us and gave us a free night. Now that's what I call customer service!
And I am very glad. The location is perfect, the room rate is extremely reasonable, all the rooms have been remodeled, memory new beds...the works. Now we have to go fool some...
Read moreNever again..||||This motel is under new management some years ago. A friend an i stay here 2two or three times a year when we're fishing the upper Delaware River. Weve been staying here for probably 20 years. Every time we stayed here, we each drive separately and would arrive at separate times. We would have them split to total cost between two credit cards.||||So I get here today, two hours before my friend, who made the reservation in his name, and this miserable girl working at the front desk wouldn't let me check in because the reservation wasn't in my name. So now I'm going to sit here in my vehicle for 2 hours. Finally my buddy calls her from the road and she says I can check in, but we both have to be here to pay at the same time? What a load of crap. Its a little motel, not the Hilton.||||Thats the last time we stay here. By the way, there is a great place to stay near by called the Beaver-Del. It has rooms to rent, a camp ground and an amazing tavern...
