Our first time at Hotel Mountain Brook. We were looking for a quaint, cozy Hotel in the Catskills where we can go from time to time to just 'kick back." The place is as comfortable and welcoming as we hoped. We will be back. I gave them 5* s with one caveat which I will explain later. The staff is warm and friendly.(all of the time.) You are genuinely welcome it was November so we spent time indoors and outdoors. The Library with its fireplace and snacks is comfortable and welcoming. DVDs are provided for your in room movies. We would go into the breakfast dining area which is more like a living room for drinks later in the day before dinner. Some great local beers. Cozy, comfortable and relaxing. Tensions melt away. Our room was spacious, comfortable and immaculate. At 3:00 each day two fires are lighted outside. The one in front of the hotel has great views of the mountains. Both are great for making S'mores. All materials found in the lobby. The porches are well laid out with individual comfortable seating or in living room style grouping's. Breakfast is a treat. Various items to select including a special item each day. The omelettes were superb and the French toast with bacon a real treat. I also had the locally sourced yogurt with fresh fruit. It was Delicious. Much of the produce is locally sourced and is wonderful. We like hiking. Usually once in the morning and then in the afternoon. There are plenty of trails within very short rides. Here is where I took a Star away. In reading the information on the Hotel site which says: 'Take a midday nap in our wildflower field. We have acres of mountain land with incredible views" and "travel up our road to the Mountain Top Arboretum." We were under the impression that there was hiking on their acres of land. There is none. The Arboretum is two miles up a public road Hill Street not Their road. While I was not looking to take a nap in the field of wildflowers I did not see one at the Hotel. The Arboretum has a great field for wildflowers. Once we realized that our impressions of the above were mistaken we adjusted our activities and had an enjoyable time. As I said just what we were looking for. A place we can go to whenever we want to kick back and enjoy a friendly comfortable environment with a variety of nearby activities. Lots of skiing in winter . We could see snow on some of the Hunter Mountain trails on November 13th. Just a note of caution if you go in November. Monday to Wednesday. Tannersville pulls in the sidewalks at night and there are very few dine in options available. We found only one. Thursday to Sunday no problem. However we did get take out which you are welcome to eat in the Hotel dining area. We do a lot of traveling all over the USA and overseas. The Hotel Mountain Brook is a winner for a welcoming, friendly comfortable environment to take a break in the...

My husband and I were looking for a pet friendly getaway that wasn't going to take us a long time to get to from NYC. Well, The Mountain Brook Inn is just what we needed.
Located in the heart of Tannersville, NY, and just a few minutes from Hunter Mountain, The Mountain Brook Inn is a bed and breakfast mountain lodge with a log cabin appeal.
As you drive up, you know that you’re in for a relaxing experience. The rooms will give you a homey feeling - a place of serenity. The rooms are clean and have the necessary things like a blow dryer, iron, shampoo, conditioner etc. You also have the choice of turning on the ceiling fan, turning on the air conditioner, or just opening up your sliding doors and windows for that fresh mountain air. And if it's chilly, just turn the fireplace on. As for pets, our two small Chihuahuas loved the grounds for it's beautiful landscaping and lawn. We appreciated that other pet owners did the right thing and picked up after their dogs.
And if you’re into having breakfast, you can enjoy homemade home fries, fresh eggs, or blueberry pancakes — the menu is delightful. But the coffee cakes, are for me, extra SPECIAL. Every day is a different coffee cake, and they’re all delicious. Did I mention that Terrance and Amy make you feel welcome and part of their haven?
The Mountain Brook Inn is a beautiful relaxing escape for those who enjoy the sound of birds, looking at the mountains or making a fire outside on the beautiful rear grounds of the Inn, where you can enjoy your cocktail, or glass of wine. Amy and Terrence provide the getaway, you make the experience!
In Tannersville, just down the road from Mountain Brook, you can have everything from ice cream, burgers, pizza, or enjoy shopping the local stores with a small range of everything.
As for my husband and myself, we now have a place to call home away from home.
Thank you Amy and Terrence for sharing your dream...
Read moreI'm a bit perplexed at the reviews but perhaps my expectations where a bit high. If your looking for a B&B to rest your head, wake up for a great breakfast and depart for the day this is your place. If you have a pet, this is your place as pets are welcome in all areas of the establishment. The main space and rooms are clean and well kept. Breakfast is definitely a level above the rest with multiple choices which do appease the pallet. Staff is friendly for sure. So why did it fall short; the pictures and description are definitely misleading, the rooms shown on the website are oversized upgraded rooms, (this is just a word of caution nothing else) the superior room, which we stayed in do not have a sitting area besides a single antique chair (sorry a single antique chair is not a sitting area, a small 27" TV and are separated by very thin walls. (My wife and I felt like we had to whisper not to disturb anyone). The private balcony is insulting at appx. 5' wide x 3' deep and is situated next to the common area of the other rooms (how is that private) Definitely cannot spend hours in the room if you wanted to just relax. A jetted tub is your normal 5' bathtub with jets. What they call a lodge is truly not a lodge but more a large home like establishment which contains a small sitting area for 2 people, master indoor fireplace, which can accommodate a single family which is directly, across from an 8 table dining area. Outdoor fireplace is at the end of the main building. As far as location, you are in a good spot near most things they list. In summary I would not deter anyone from the place but would nudge you to make sure it's what your...
