2.5 stars but i gave it a 3. For NY its really not cutting it. Manhattan prices yet not delivering on that.
Mediocre and super overpriced. Im used to bougie upscale bar food/tapas style but honestly the menu was subpar. It feels like the eclectic mix menu was confused with not much to offer. They also don’t have very good vegetarian options.
They should really offer some warm appetizers in the middle of winter. A simple roasted beet salad, rosemary fries and charcuterie board would do. I saw multiple people blank staring at that menu trying to figure out what they could order other than pizza, pita bread or $65 steak. Seems like a better spot for drinks than for dinner with your kids after ski.
The shrimp and squid was described to me as a ceviche type seafood salad, it was more like 3 tiny pieces of cooked room temp shrimp and 2 tiny scallops floating on 2 soggy pieces of bread with capers on top. (Sadly, this was actually my favorite dish)
The caesar salad was described on the menu as a pretty normal sounding caesar, yet is 90% bitter radicchio. I love salad and bitter greens but it was not balanced at all. I asked to switch for a mixed greens salad and just to make sure i asked if it would be like the caesar with a bunch of the bitter radicchio - I was told that it was all pre batched and that it would be the same. Again written on the menu as mixed greens or cesar you are not expecting to get a bowl of radicchio. The women next to me didnt like her food very much either. They barely touched anything and spent over $100 too.
The crispy potatoes were good but they dont give you any sorta fun aioli to go with it. If you need they will give you ketchup.
The pizza didn’t look that great for $26.
LIVING WAGE FEE :: This was very confusing. We were charged a 10% fee of $8.80 on a $56 bill (which made no sense. Thats more than 10 percent anyways) ….. So does this mean you dont pay ur waiters well and expect the customers to make that up and leave another 15-20% tip on top of that? Or does it count as the tip? I feel like this screws the waiters over bc confusion leads to pple not tipping and now the waiters end up with a 10% tip and hopefully in that case it means that living wage fee means they are paying their waiters better than other. Especially for the crazy prices for a simple small tapas n pizza place.
We came for the fireplace atmosphere but it wasnt worth it. The wooden benches and chairs were also highly uncomfortable too.
Also service was weird. Everyone seemed a bit frazzled and confused and didnt know the...
Read moreOne of the best new restaurants in Tannersville! It’s like a restaurant straight out of New York City opened up right here in the Catskills. Everything about this restaurant is exactly what they need up in the Catskills.
It’s like you took a Michelin five star restaurant out of Gramercy Park and merged it with some of the best that the Catskill mountains have to offer = Tabla.
My recommendations, if you are dining in the evening, you’re gonna want to request that you get the table right to the left of the front door. It’s a four top that can seat for adults and two children very comfortably. It’s right on the window so it overlooks the street. It’s also a little bit out-of-the-way so you’re not bumping into anybody and you have a good amount of privacy.
Next up, when you’re ordering for dinner I recommend just ordering a whole bunch of plates off the menu And sharing with everybody. The special that they had when we were there was the clams, and they were amazing, incredibly fresh, and I would also try the homemade sausage pizza, and the meatballs. The meatballs were almost melt on your fork tender, and the pizza was in the thicker Chicago style deep dish, but the dough had almost a croissant consistency! Five stars all around.
What impressed me the most was the fact that the owner David went the extra mile to stop our table and share his story with us about how he’s bringing New York City based restaurants and culinary ideas /cuisine to Tannersville.
All of that and he’s paying his servers and bartenders and cooks and dishwashers a living wage. I think this is a very stand up restaurant with amazing food and good business practices that will be around...
Read moreI want to say I do NOT have the ability to really share all aspects of what I feel can be an OUTSTANDING place.
We entered and the place felt great! The bar tender was OUTSTANDING, he greeted us and was a true professional pleasure. He's a 10 plus and the owner deserves to know this. We even told him so. He seated us in front of the fire pit and took our drink order. Our experience ended there.
We sat for 45 min and nobody came back. We even took our empty glasses and menu and moved to a table and nothing. The waitress sat 2 other tables and looked at us and our empty glasses AND NOTHING.
We were hungry and excited about the menu but VERY frustrated over the service. We sadly picked up our empty glasses and menus and went to the bar to pay and leave. This should have been an indication something was wrong but not a care given. We ended up at the restaurant next door.
I feel for the owner, hes invested a great deal to create a great place, location spot on, ambiance a 10!! Entering and greeting OUTSTANDING and it all fell flat after that. Not even the opportunity to try your food.
I'm so sorry we did not get a chance to indulge in your culinary delights We are local and would love to try again might I suggest you invest in a front end manager who is checking on what's going on.Your on top something great here I feel it. Make that investment its going to be worth it.
This is NOT a bashing review this is the knowledge you need so you understand whats happening and understanding why your not a packed house, you should be. Make changes in the front end your going slay it.
Thank you, can't wait to...
