Work at a place that does an annual business/bookings there and was a pretty terrible experience on basically all fronts.||||Issues arose starting with checkin. My room was not ready, which was totally fine given it was still 2-3 hours from checkin time. The issue is I gave them my number for the notification system that texts you when your room is ready but I never received a text. After my checkin time had passed (a discovering in convo with colleagues that all their rooms were ready) I went to the front desk and only then by checking myself did i find out my room is ready.||||The room was horrible. I was in building 1 which if you been here before you know is an absolute cell and wifi deadzone. Technically the wifi works but we are talking like only if you stand in certain parts of the room at best. My company books events on premises at the hotel over the course of our retreat that are all located in the central area of the hotel or on the complete opposite side of the complex from building 1. Despite knowing all||of this, two years in a row now the booking staff has put me in building 1 in a room ending in a digit below 10. This means i am as far as possible from everything I need to be at over the weekend and waste quite a bit of time traversing the length of building just to stop back at my room if there is free time between events. I could not find a single other person in my company they stuck in building 1. I do not know what I did to offend someone in the booking office but two years running now they have assigned me the most basic room type effectively as far away as possible from where i need to be. someone also threw up/defecated in the hall outside my room on the last night that just smelled horrendous. it was still there the next morning, not sure when, if ever, they go to cleaning it up.||||I mention the fact that i got a basic room because the hotel was totally booked so the staff seemed to have just stuck people into whatever available room without giving much thought to it. I had colleagues with insane suites while i had my second year running of the worst, most basic room there. Not trying to be mean here to the booking people but this resulted in scenarios where the designated company vips were put in junior suites while a bunch of random non vip employees had higher level or the highest level suites. seems like they got overwhelmed and no one really took a step back to think about things big picture and were just thinking one room at a time. I tried quite a bit to get moved to a different room (i would have taken any room as there are maybe only like 5-6 rooms in the hotel farther out of the way than mine). Hotel management did eventually offer a 50 dollar dining credit which i appreciated but realistically does not come close to offsetting all the issues and wasted time.||||further, the ac went down one day while we were in meetings. I was literally dripping sweat just sitting there not moving. some of my colleagues lost ac in their actual rooms (and did not have it through the night) but fortunately my in room ac stayed working. ||||As I mentioned before, hotel was super booked, with other company and or industry conferences/retreats and i do not think the hotel was well prepared to handle, especially when serving the food/buffet service. We consistently had people not part of our party walking into our buffet lines and taking food or coming into our conference room for drinks. my colleagues were the ones who eventually had to tell these people they do not belong here / the food is not for them because there wasn’t any one from the hotel staff monitoring the situation or providing direction to guests. ||||Was not offered any option to take a guest experience survey type thing after my stay which is why i have elected to write this google review. Not trying to be cruel/mean but just had a very bad experience and thought others should know and consider it alongside other reviews and make their own judgements but i would not recommend this hotel. ||||Definitely not looking forward to returning here for next years retreat. It just kills the mood right off the bat knowing that most likely I will go checkin and find out I have been placed opposite of all||the places i need to be at and people I need to see. ||||Lone bright would be the spa service appointment i had which was great and very relaxing; however, that great experience was then followed by all those issues i outlined above (got the spa treatment while waiting for room to be ready) so by the end of the weekend on the net it was just an incredibly...

Review Part 1/2:

Update June 2023- Overpriced, I paid for early check-in which is absurd to charge people for now but I thought I would try it. I paid $121 to check in at 2pm. Showed up 2:55pm after golfing Highlands and room wasn't ready. Terrible start. Went to pool, so overcrowded, service was poor and took forever. Went to bar for drink before dinner, forgot our order. Went to Italian place for dinner. Food good, service was below average, forgot a salad I ordered. Next day stood in line for 10 mins waiting for someone to seat us for breakfast, finally got sick of waiting and decided to grab breakfast on the way out of town. Overall to spend over $1000 for one nights stay, golf, food, etc. the experience was terrible and overpriced. GG fools itself by think it's a top tier resort. We decided one last time thinking maybe things changed from last year but they haven't. Good help is hard to find and I appreciate that. What they lack is any type of management that is visible and cares about the customer experience. Managers should be visible and active especially when the place is at capacity. Save your money and try the Abbey or Lake Lawn or Geneva National!!! It can't be any worse for the money you spend!!

An honest review from mid 40's couple with a 6 year old. Checked in at 1pm. Room wasn't ready and we knew that ahead of time. "We will text you when room is ready" no biggie. Went to pool enjoyed drinks and food, spent $200+ quickly. 4pm roles around, no text. I go to front desk and the girl disappears for about 10 minutes in a back room talking to a manager and comes back and says "we will upgrade you." I asked what happened and she said "an error." Ahhh ok. I didn't want anything for free, upgrade was just a lake view instead of parking lot, big deal. The lazy manager should have gotten out of the chair and come to apologize for their screw up. That would have been great. Very poor customer service and managers should be held accountable to apologize to guests for hotel screw ups not underlings (no offense meant here). We were supposed to eat at the Italian place Brissago the next evening. Called and asked if we can order and pick up and take to room as we spent afternoon at pool, this time spending $300+. Nope, can pick up food until 900 or 930pm. What a stupid policy when trying to generate revenue and pleasing guests. Post Covid who hasn't made that adaptation yet. We were stuck ordering room service. It was HORRIBLE. Turkey BLT, Hamburger we're both cold, fries were soggy and barely cooked. At least the chicken fingers worked for our 6 year old. Some will say well you should have stayed at the water park. We have done that before. Mom and dad didn't want that this trip. The stuff I am referencing has nothing to do with the little guy. All of this service was way below par. The BEST service actually came at the pool from Riley!!! Super sweet girls that was attentive. The food there was good, hot, and timely. Had we known we would have eaten there both nights. Lastly that pool area has been undersized since I can remember going up as a kid. It's a great scene with great staff but way too undersized. The reserving chairs early in the morning with towels, like many other resorts, needs to be handled by management. Especially as you won't be able to find a chair on a nice day after 11am. Expand the pool, get rid of the little kid pool. You will make the revenue back in good and bev in a few years I bet! Overall we managed to have a decent time, management needs to do...
