Chaffee Lodge — Hotel in Town of Sardinia

I booked a room here for two nights for me and my fiance to stay at while we were in town for ski races over the weekend at Kissing Bridge and Holiday Valley. I chose this place because of the reasonable price, central location between both resorts, and good reviews consistently citing how clean it was here despite being outdated. We were greeted by a very friendly man working there who had already heated our room for our arrival which was nice. This was about the only good thing about this place. When we got in our room, we discovered our bed sheets to be covered in several hairs and some stains. Many of the hairs on one side of the bed appeared to be men's body hairs which led us to believe the sheets had not been washed. We considered asking for new sheets, but we didn't discover this until pretty late at night and weren't super hopeful that any replacements would be better, so we removed the hairs and covered the pillows with our shirts and slept in socks and long pajamas without the cover so we didn't have to touch the bed. The floor in the room was also quite dirty and overall the room was quite dated. The wash clothes in the bathroom were very course and uncomfortable to wash with. Room was very dated and the hallway of the hotel smelled like pot smoke. The pluses to this place were the full size mini fridge with a freezer portion and microwave and cable and wi-fi. I stayed here for 3 Days the first day I came it caught me off guard by the look even though the room was clean. Just to far out to drive so I cancelled an came back . Because the drive was worth it due to cleaning plus space it was quite. The main thing that got me was the man that checked me in told the owner my 17 yr son with his 12yr brother traveling with family had a gun. The man working front desk had straight lied on my son bout the gun plus said that he was aggressive had a attitude he was starting problems which was a lie because my son has disabilities you just can't tell until you actually talk to him But the man that I spoke with previously on the phone was very nice an professional even cut me a deal. Then let me rebooked after these allegations because I said ohh not my child. Then on top of that they tried to say my reservation was not valid after I spoke with the man on property he asked me was I going to stay over I said yes and then the next day I was getting phone calls and voicemails saying that I have to check out ,my room was already booked and there was nothing that they can do about it. The owner changed up on the phone an started being very rude ,not professional and argumentative just not nice. He vouched for his employee which I knew he would saying he worked here for 10 years he would never lie but he already lied on a my teenage son but other than that the room was very clean...

Our recent stay at Chaffee Lodge left us with a mix of impressions. While we appreciated the owner's warm welcome and felt secure throughout our time there, there are significant areas that need improvement.

Firstly, the cleanliness of the room was a concern. Cobwebs and hairs in the bathroom corners and the subpar condition of the towels did not align with our expectations. Our sense was that the bathroom had t been cleaned for us. The bedsheets' worn and mismatched condition, with visible holes exposing the mattress and a lack of fresh scent, was less than satisfactory as well.

Additionally, the pervasive odor of old smoke (despite it being a non smoking lodge now) detracted from the overall comfort of the place, despite our attempts to air out the room. Mismatched furniture and the presence of spiders did not contribute to a pleasant environment.

It's worth noting that the price for a weekend night was rather high. Considering this, we had hoped for a cleaner and more inviting atmosphere.
