I see all of the 4 and 5 star ratings and I am bit confused and perplexed. I have been camping at the Stone since 2009 and yes then and a few years past that until maybe 2015 I would put the park in that type of rating. For 2018 and 2019 years it would not even come close to that rating. This campground is close to home and we can camp frequently as it is also about a 30 min drive to work, also it is relatively cheaper than your big private campgrounds. We will see if my less than stellar review gets any comments from the park as I see on many of the 5 star reviews always a “Thank you” from the park on the review. The park use to be clean and well maintained, this has slipped tremendously. Yes you have paved sites for your RV but many of these are in need of repaving or fixing up, potholes in them, now uneven on either side. We have always camped or at least tried to camp in the 600 loop inner sites to utilize the huge green area. In the past always mowed groomed and maintained, the past 2 years every time we get these sites, site not mowed nor is the green area. I have actually borrowed a friend camping with us his manual cutter to cut the site The biggest issue I have is when we check in and would ask about any openings for any of our friends, we get nope fully booked, really when I walk the grounds on Saturdays I still see at a minimum of 10 sites still open, interesting how that is. I would also add that in the past many weekends there were numerous activities scheduled for the kids and sometimes the adults, now nothing is scheduled for the weekends, other than Halloween. Landscaping used to be some of the best I have seen right up to a comparison of the golf courses, now a days not even close. They have gone the cheap way out and continue to focus on their bread and butter the casino. It is funny most of the folks that camp will shuttle to the casino either for food or some gambling so you are still getting our money either way. I will still continue to camp there due to geography to home and relatively inexpensive. I would hope that some execs from the Stone would come and visit the campground and talk to guests maybe they would get a better picture of how your grounds are being taken care...
Read moreWe stayed here over one night on our way up to Bar Harbour Maine from Columbus Ohio. It was uneventful but they close all offices at 5 pm with no one around until 8am next morning. We had Covid Negative tests and were not in Ohio, our home state since 9/1/2020. Since we knew the site we called to get a reservation for our stop over on return trip a week later. They had all our data and credit card on file and booked us in for the next evening. I reminded them we had Good Sam and AAA for the discount that we told them we had on way in and they never gave us since they were not open when we got there or before we left. While in the mountains of NY at 4:22pm they must have called our cell phone on the night we were going to check in but left a Voicemail as no connection on our end. I happen to look at phone and realized they left us a message when we got into a cell zone around 6pm. The VM they left stated “ we could not stay as Ohio just popped up As a quarantine state”(see transcription of VM in photos). We were stuck 60 min before arrival at finding a new place that we could stay with electrical and room to not unhook our airstream trailer. This was totally unacceptable at the last minute to only leave a vm with no option of an alternative solution or contact number for after they close at 5pm. We called next morning and they said” we will not charge you for the night”—- REALLY! This was such poor customer -DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE GUARANTEED A SPOT! They state that it was controlled by our drivers license not where we were or how long we were not in the quarantine state. I would highly recommend you stay at the place we found last minute: Arrowhead RV and Marina (check...
Read moreWe stayed there this weekend with friends. Nice campground & we went to the casino and really enjoyed dinner at TS Steakhouse. We were already planning our next trip, but unfortunately we won’t be going back. ||The seconding morning of our 4 night stay, we got a visit from management & were told to take down the tent attached to our camper because, “there’s no tent camping.” It’s clear we weren’t “tent camping” - the camper is hooked up to water, electric, and we don’t sleep in the tent. After pointing that out, we were told that because our tent had a floor, it had to come down because it kills the grass. (We weren’t on the grass, we were on the gravel pad next to the camper). ||We complied and took it down for the rest of the stay. |While walking around the campground during the remainder of our stay, we were upset to see that the rules aren’t enforced equitably. We saw several other campsites with tents/gazebos/screened canopies with floors. Some were clearly on set up on grassy areas. |We brought this to management’s attention when checking out. Their response …”oh yes, well those aren’t allowed. We really should be checking on that.” |So they pick & choose which rules are enforced & when? Got it. (Lots of kids on bikes & scooters with no helmet - also against the “rules.”) ||The website needs to be clear what tent camping” means. And if they are going to enforce rules, they should enforce all their rules equitably.|(Picture of our camper/tent set-up for reference but wasn’t at this camp ground. Didn’t think to take a photo before we took it down. Also photos of other sites with similar...
