We booked the entire Captain Storm House and six rooms in the Candlelight Lodge for a bachelorette weekend. Each lady had their own room and bathroom for a reasonable price. Having the entire storm house allowed us to provide meals. We made full use of the full kitchen, dining room, parlors and patio. Each lady also has their own minifridge/microwave at the lodge if needed. We opted to not pay for the maid service or breakfast voucher as we were providing breakfast at the Storm House. The antique furnishings were grand, photos/artwork inspired conversation, and the air conditioners in each room were appreciated. The location was perfect for our itinerary of a trail ride, wineries, going out in Bemus Point, and a hike at Panama Rocks. We were able to order food at the Tops next door and Westfield’s close proximity to Buffalo allowed some ladies to just join for the day. As with any house that is over 125 years old, lots of TLC is required. While talking to the owners, I realized they are working hard to keep up with both properties. They were wonderful to work with while planning the event and provided a lot of information about the area. The minor cosmetic imperfections of the houses did not deter from our stay. Although each room had an air conditioner with a “fan option”, having easier access to blinds/opening windows would have also been nice, as well as some updated bedding on the comfortable beds and a provided hair dryer in each room. We appreciated the historic houses with antique furnishings, but if sleek and modern is more your style, you may want to pass. We were lucky to discover The Candlelight Lodge & Captain Storm House and look forward to a return visit. Thank...
Read moreMy partner and I wanted a relaxing vacation week in the Chautauqua area, and we certainly found a place that suited us with the Candlelight Lodge.||||Located in scenic, serene Westfield, the B&B is ideal for those who want peace & quiet as well as convenience to Lake Chautauqua and the surrounding area wineries.||||We occupied the Pine Suite, and we found it in pristine condition when we arrived, with a comfortable living room, sleeping area, kitchen, and bathroom. One issue thought was the temperature of the place when we arrived (mid-August. It must have been at least 80 degrees inside, and the a/c, even after it was turned on, took about 24 hours to cool the place down completely. However, in the evening, the temperature dropped considerably outside, which helped immensely.||||Our host--Wilma--met us on arrival, and she was helpful, nice. She recommended places to eat, visit, etc., and the main common area had lots of brochures, pamphlets, etc. The entire lodge is tastefully decorated with 19th century furnishings, and everything felt very comfortable.||||The kitchen included with our suite was perfectly adequate, with a refrigerator, freezer, gas range, and plenty of dishes, pots, silverware, etc. As I already said, everything was clean and meticulously arranged.||||If you're in Chautauqua and looking for a place to "get away from it all," I'd recommend this place to you. We stayed a week and would certainly consider staying again if we were...
