We had our children and their spouses join us at Inn on The River for a weekend. Perfect place to celebrate 50th birthdays for our daughter and daughter-in-law. Being a favorite destination for us we were excited to see if our children enjoyed it as much as we did…….they loved it and will come back on their own. We all loved sitting on our balcony watching visiting and watching the river and rail traffic. The front porch was a perfect place for all six of us to have lunch and relax. We even played ladder golf on the lawn. Perrot State Park is about two miles from the inn and is gorgeous. Sullivan’s Dining didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent as usual. The River Cafe for breakfast has outdoor dining and the food was great. We must give a “shout out” to Virgil for being a fabulous host. This guy is most pleasant and smiles all the time making us...

I made a reservation for two nights, Sept 26th & 27th. When I made the reservation the owner told me if I didn't show up he would charge me for one of the nights. I said, that's fine, we'll be there. My sister and I were looking forward to our time away. We got to the motel at about 6:00pm on the 26th and the place looked like a ghost town. Sure enough, there was no one staying there and there was no one in the office. The place was closed! Unreal! The owner never called and said the room would not be available, but he had no problem threatening me when I made the reservation about how he was charge me if "I" didn't show up. What a loser owner! I saw some bad reviews about him and this place, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. This website forced me to choose a star, so I had to give him one. But he doesn't even...

It was a five star place considering the price. You can watch the barges and trains go by from your balcony, which is perfect for the Great River Road experience. I thought the trains would wake us up in the night, but it didn't end up being a problem at all. It was the cheapest AND nicest place we stayed in Wisconsin. Everything was clean, new, and well maintained. Oh, and the flower gardens and the views of the wooded hills and the river were unbelievable. Edit six years later; It's still a great motel, even in a sub-zero January cold snap. The trains are even more dramatic in the Winter. The new owners are incredibly nice and helpful, he even brushed the snow off of our car every morning!

Absolutely Love this place. You can't beat the view from the balcony. We come visit 3 to 4 times a year for the pass few years. The Hospitality is great. If you have any problems they are quick to respond and very friendly. Recently they have renovated all the rooms and balcony so it looks brand new with really nice showers. So if you want a soothing place with an unbelievable view to get away from the stresses of life this is the place to come. The view of the river with boats barges and trains going by makes it really fun. Definitely recommend this place

Love this little motel. Rooms are all updated. The hosts are quite frankly some of the best people ever. Virgil will do whatever he needs to make you happy. We have been going here for 20 years. This is how they well take care of you, I left my purse with our hotel key at Elmaro winery. Didn't realize until we were leaving. Virgil picked up my purse and the key and held it for me until we came back the next year. Coco the cat is the best greeter ever. She has been there for 6 years and just makes the place even more charming.
