This was my first visit to this historic location. This was a medium sized room with plenty of tables, and space if you choose to come with a medium-to-large party, or an intimate date of 2. There is a bar at the front of the house with a television that was innocuous. The menu is revolving for season, and what is fresh and available, so the items might not be the same when someone else visits. I choose 2 appetizers and a main course. I got the Walnut balls with a side of fresh made honey mustard, and pesto mozzarella flat bread. The flat bread was excellent, the pesto was fresh, complimented the other flavoures without competing, or overpowering. The Walnut balls were a mix of Walnut, and a cheese and some others ingredients. It paired well with the honey mustard, which was a dijon honey mustard, and not too sweet. For the the main course I got the catfish etouffee. The rice was cooked well, and the catfish was boiled over a blackening, the sauce was flavourful, but not spicy. There was an excellent view of the River and depending on when you come there is live music performances to experience. As I do not drink I cannot say to any stock of local beer, or wine, or any specials they have. They also have deserts, of which I also did not partake in. In all this was a great restaurant, there was care out into the menu, the food, the mood and presentation. Of note: this is one of the few times where the appetizer was spaced with the salad and then spaced with the main course. The importanceof having each course given the time to be enjoyed beforethe next one is so very Important to the experience. Somethingto not be taken...

The menu changes daily. They use local fresh food. When I saw they get their catfish fresh from Mohns Fish Market in Harpers Ferry, Iowa i was pretty impressed. That's about a 90 minute drive.
Many unique items on their menu. I want sure what to try. I narrowed it down to about 5 choices. After my discussion with the server I told her to let the chef decide between the 2 options I decided on. She didn't ask many questions like I would have but went back and told the chef. His response apparently was, "Does she prefer chicken or beef?" Since the server didn't have the answer he chose beef. It was amazing! It fell apart because it was so tender 😋.
There was some sort of corn bread on the plate, a cream spread, Korean bbq sauce and some greens on top. It was perfect- some hot honey would have amped up this delicious meal even more! And the baby boy choy was so flavorful I was craving more! It was grilled and super well seasoned. I normally would only eat half of the portion i received but I could not leave anything on my plate so I ate it all.
We had a river view table. Friendly customers all around. We met the owner. She looked so familiar. The reason I recognized her was because she always had a smile on her face when I'd seen her in the past.
Friendly, great bartender, amazing food, this place should be on your list of...

Normally I like historic hotels and bed and breakfasts but these rooms are the most uncomfortable ever. The beds and terribly uncomfortable and squeeky. Our mattress was literally on a piece of plywood that was sitting on an old metal bed frame with springs. The rooms are so ridiculously small there isn't even space to set a suitcase. The bed is jammed up against the wall so you can only get into it from one side. There is absolutely NO sound blocking, you can hear everything from the hallway and the rooms next door. And there are freight trains that go by...EVERY HOUR! Oh, and they have live music... which would be great if they weren't also a hotel where people sleep. I wouldn't pay half what we did for the rooms. I wish we had staid in a super 8.
We also ate supper. Overall it was over priced. I ordered a hamburger to keep it inexpensive and the waitress asked how all of us wanted ours cooked but they all can back well done, dry and crusted with char no matter how we ordered it. It did have...
