I hadn't been back to Troy, PA in decades and found this gem after a short Google search. I stayed with my best friend from school days and we rented the twin bed room called "The Clara Barton Room." The price was reasonable considering you get a gourmet cooked breakfast prepared by Will who is also a trained chef. The breakfast has many courses and the presentation is second to none. He really knocks the meal out of the park and the dining room plays soft music while you enjoy your meal lovingly prepared by Will.
The breakfast is so filling that we skipped lunch after eating it both mornings. That is a nice way to save you a little money while you stay in a gorgeous Victorian home that is comfortable, spacious and elegant. We especially enjoyed the window seat area right outside our room that overlooks Canton Street from a large bay window. There are a few spacious rooms guests can enjoy and relax in during your stay.
The location of the B&B is a couple blocks from town center, so we were able to walk to and from town for dinner and ice cream. The house is exquisitely decorated and in excellent shape for it's age. I seriously could not find a crack in the walls or ceiling and the carpets are in perfect shape. Will is extremely tidy and clean-you won't find a spec of dust anywhere.
The amenities he provides in the bathroom are ample-he truly thinks of anything you might need and provides it. Water and drinks like tea or soda can be purchased right in the downstairs kitchen and entrance and we appreciated the hydration offered to guests. There is off-street parking as well as a nice outdoor seating area so you can sit outside if the weather is nice.
Will was friendly and we enjoyed breakfast with him the first morning when the inn had not been fully booked. We had a pleasant chat and a leisurely breakfast, savoring each course, sipping his perfect brew of coffee. This allowed us to learn about his history and how he ended up running this gorgeous B&B.
We are so glad we stayed and will be back again. We loved it so much we may make an annual trip of it. I suggest the Golden Oak Inn Bed and Breakfast as a terrific place to stay for the Troy Fair, or even come in the winter and enjoy watching the snow fall in this majestic bed and breakfast. Book early for the Fair--he fills up fast.
Thank you Will for an...
Read moreThe Golden Oak Inn Bed & Breakfast is an outstanding place to stay in Troy PA area. We stayed in June 2025 while visiting family. It is a very charming old Victorian home that has been well maintained and yet it still has all the authentic wood features, doors and stairs. It is decorated with beautiful period furniture, wallpaper, wall art, books, lace, and other interesting decor items that give you that authentic Victorian era feeling. It's very neat, clean, well organized, comfortable, and homey in the room and in the common areas. The bed linens and towels were clean, fresh and plentiful too. Will is the owner/host and is a super friendly person who goes out of his way to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable of Troy and the surrounding areas. The price is reasonable too. We are on a plant based diet, so we did not have Will's breakfasts but we heard others raving about it while we were there. Will gave us a discount on the stay for not being able to eat the breakfast, which was very much appreciated. We really enjoyed our five nights stay in the 1st floor Pennsylvania room and our conversations with Will. We will stay here again and we highly recommend this...
