Budget Inn — Hotel in Tucumcari

Talk about bang for your buck!!! The rooms are nicer than you'd expect for the price per night, which is a good surprise. Carpet looked like its almost brand new as did the bed. Some of the other furniture was dated but not bad at all. The ac unit appears to be from a generation or two before me, but that's when appliances were actually made to last. Even the bathroom looks to be a fairly new remodel. No bugs and no funny smells. It was a good experience. I only really found 2 issues, the side of the sink by the toilet was unfinished granite and was very sharp, almost got cut just trying to wipe my hind quarters. The other is the internet which is a big one because the phone signal in town isn't great and I have to be able to do work. There are 6 access points but none of them had good signal from my room, when I could actually get my laptop to stay connected the speed was sufficient. We stayed at Budget Inn for one night on a road trip. The place met our minimum qualifications for a short stay. Cleanliness and comfort were not great, but neither was the condition bad enough for us to go elsewhere. For the price and a minimally acceptable stay, this place was okay. Our bed sloped pretty hard toward the pillows, so we just slept with an extra pillow. (see photo) The manager did a good job of communicating with us via email as we planned our trip. No one answered the phone in numerous attempts to call. It seems that the place is being managed, run, & cleaned all by one person. The place allows pets in many of the rooms, so if you don’t have pets, let them know when you make your reservation. The servicing of the rooms prior to arrival appears to be limited largely to new linens and towels. I can only imagine that “pet rooms” might not be suitable for...

I booked a room through hotels.com. ld been traveling 13 hours, 6 hours straight so I had to use the restroom bad. I check in, pay the 5$ pet fee and run as fast as I can to the room. I don't even unload my car or my dog. Flick on the lights and use the rest room stand up to use the sink and there's a cockroach in the sink stuck in the bowl I say 'nuh uh' and go back to the front office ask for a refund. The desk clerk refused and says the website had to issue it. So I say ok. And get my pet deposit and leave. Next day call the website customer care they say the motel refuses to give me the refund because they offered me another room and supposedly i had refused it.
