Night of June 16 2021, room 17, I stayed with two Labrador dogs I was transporting to their owners In Seattle. I am 64 years old, with asthma, and I expect efficient Air Conditioning in lodging. Old wall unit AC in room 17 did not work properly. The temperature reached the mid 80s in the Twin Falls area that day and the room was too warm. Non-chilled air was coming out from the AC vent, even though the AC was running at its coolest “Cool” setting. Motel staff member came and did a reset and got chilled air to flow in - he admitted that they had been replacing AC units lately and maybe they will do this one, too. As far as I am concerned they should have replaced this one before letting anyone else use room 17 because after he left the room, the AC chilling shut-off and only warm air was coming in again. It ran like that all night where it would chill for about 4-5 minutes then shutoff and start the flow of warm air again. I could hear the internal thermostat shut off and on like that all night. I had to stop using the TV because it would only add to more heat into the room. Once the sun was down, and it was cooler outside than in room 17, I opened the door and the window to get cool air in, I had to hold onto the dogs during this, but one of the labs started barking at a gray cat who walked by, plus there was an old, deaf man working on his transmission in front of my window, making one of the dogs want to bark some more, so I had to end my cooling attempt, closing the door and the window. I tried running the “Fan” setting but it was not good enough to cool the room. I called front desk again to ask for another room as I can’t sleep in a hot room especially with two 80 pound labradors who also generate body heat and I needed sleep before driving to Yakima, Washington the next day. I was told there were no more rooms, which I now question because when I left early the next morning, I saw that room 16 next door had its drapes open, the light inside was on, the two beds were made and un-slept in and I could plainly see from the parking lot that it was unoccupied! In trying to sleep with a bad AC, maybe I got 2 hours sleep while aligning my head close to the vent do I could get that 4 to 5 minutes of cool air every once in awhile. I had thought about leaving and driving to town to look for another motel or hotel but the trouble of moving the dogs and their stuff was too much trouble, plus I saw on my cell phone internet that Red Lion Hotel had no more rooms, so it was too risky leaving and not being able to find a place that allows dogs and has a room available. Additional bad stuff: the remote control for the TV did not work. I called to complain about that, the staff member came to the room, and told me that remote control now works but in order to control the volume you have to go to the TV set itself. Also, power on and power off has to be done at the TV. Moot point, because I wound up not using the TV because it made the heat problem in the room worse. More: the room phone did not work. There is a microwave but no refrigerator (what good is a microwave if you have no way to keep food fresh or frozen?). There is a nice grass area to walk dogs and potty break, but no poop bags or a poop disposal can is provided. So what am I supposed to do with the dog’s poop? Fortunately I have my own bags but I looked all around for a trash can to dispose of the dog poop. I could not find trash cans anywhere around the motel - just cigarette butt cans. So, I disposed of the poop bag into the room 17 trash can. I did leave the can outside so as to not stink up the room. I did get to Yakima with only 2 hours of sleep, but I used caffeine pills to keep awake. My stay in Amber Inn Eden Idaho was a nightmare. I made a mistake staying there. I will...

Read moreMy husband and I visit the Twin Falls area several times a year on business (musicians playing at local bars). This last time around, when our go-to motel wanted to charge $10-15 above what was being advertised online, I looked up the Amber Inn Motel, which was not only closer to where we were playing, but charged what they were advertising.
Upon calling the property, Heather, the new proprietor, treated me more like an old friend instead of a one-time customer. Check-in was smooth and the room was nice and clean. The motel has a very "retro" vibe with motor-lodge style parking and a vintage-looking headboard for the bed. Initially, I thought the room had just a microwave, but no fridge, but during the night, my husband heard the telltale sound of a compressor coming on and lo and behold, he found a mini-fridge in what we thought was a dresser. Turns out, the left side had drawers, and right side was a cabinet (see photo)!
We stayed 3 nights at Amber Inn and enjoyed our time there. The only issues we had were noisy neighbors with late night comings and goings, but then again, we were guilty of that same 'offense' what with our gigs ending around midnight. Judging from other reviews, the Amber Inn tends to get a good portion of its clientele late at night when they're running out of juice in the midst of a long drive.
Where the motel is situated, the selection of restaurants and other amenities is limited, but we enjoyed breakfast at a nice little diner at the Traveler's Oasis Truck Plaza nearby. The TO also has a convenience store, Taco Time, Blimpie and a Shell Station on-site.
When/if our travels bring us back this way, we would happily stay at the Amber Inn...
