First Cast Cabin — Hotel in Uncertain

First Cast Cabin is a real gem! The location is perfect for exploring Caddo Lake and surrounding area. The view of the lake, the sounds and sights of the birds make the location truly special. Luke was an exceptional host. From the first contact immediately after booking, to the suggestions for the trip and stay, to the follow-up during our stay, Luke was always super quick to reply and answer questions and make suggestions. The cabin is so comfortable. Plenty of room to relax and spread out. It is like a combination of a 5-star hotel and a stay at your best friend's lake home. Everything we needed was there for us already. Even the umbrella you'd expect to find in the closet of a fine hotel was right there waiting for us. When I wanted to look more closely at a bird on the lake, the Bushnell binoculars were waiting for me in the basket on the table. Luke even had drinks and snacks for us to enjoy. The attention to detail was amazing. The cabin was sparkling clean, the bed super-comfortable, great shower/tub and a great kitchen for preparing meals. The screened porch overlooking the lake was our favorite place and we ate our meals out there and spent time relaxing, doing yoga (plenty of floor space), watching the hummingbirds, etc. The sunrise and sunset times were exceptionally beautiful with the moss-draped cypress trees. We enjoyed fishing off Luke's pier and caught several fish. Of course, the fishing rods were right there in the cabin for us. First Cast Cabin was an absolutely lovely place to stay! The entire space was comfortable, very clean, stylish, and well-equipped with lots of games, fishing gear, kayaks, and other amenities. My niece and I spent a couple of days at the home and it was perfect for us. We loved having direct access to the lake, and the setting was extremely quiet and scenic. The photos do not capture the incredible beauty and mystery of Lake Caddo. We spent a lot of time on the back porch simply reading or talking. The kitchen was equipped with anything we needed to prepare our own meals. We also appreciated that the cabin had a washer and dryer. We were grateful for the wi-fi, as our phones were not always in service on the drive to the cabin. Beds and couches were very comfy, and it was a treat just to take it easy by lounging and relaxing. We also felt very safe. Luke was an outstanding host...from the time of making the reservation to our departure, he was proactive and helpful when it came to communication. He also provided plenty of excellent tips for how to make the most of our visit to the cabin, Caddo Lake, and the surrounding region. It's very obvious that he is passionate about this location, and he was enthusiastic about sharing the insider info with us. He was quick to respond to any questions we had and checked in on us a couple of times to make sure everything was okay...very much appreciated! This was overall one of my best experiences with AirBNB. I would love to return to First Cast Cabin...

May 2021 - This was our second time staying at Luke's First Cast Cabin. Everything was amazing as usual, from Luke's prompt and courteous communication to the extra unexpected amenities. Luke also has great local recommendations to ensure you enjoy your time at Caddo Lake. The continuous additions and improvements to the property make us want to keep coming back to check out what's new. We can't wait to go back to enjoy the new boat house with screened in deck. We highly recommend Luke's First Cast Cabin, by far the nicest place on Caddo Lake (per the locals)! Thanks again Luke!

December 2020 - Luke is an amazing host, and First Cast Cabin is a first class property. By far the nicest property on Caddo Lake (confirmed by several locals). Luke has gone above and beyond to make you feel at home, from the many unexpected amenities to the seasonal decorations. His local guide book and recommendations were spot on. Communication was always prompt and courteous. He even checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was going well and to see if we needed anything. I would highly recommend staying with Luke at First Cast Cabin if you are planning a trip to Caddo Lake.
