On a quest to find the best Chicken Fried steak in East Texas, after some research, I chose this place for my birthday lunch courtesy of a long time friend who lives in DeBerry. The setting is typical Caddo Lake picturesque, with a boat ramp adjacent to the parking lot and plenty of Cypress trees draped in Spanish moss as far as the eye can see. Sit where you'd like, someone will be with you in short order. There's no pretense here, it's simple but basic, clean and neat. There's a good bit to choose from but we were on a mission, so we just needed to choose or sides to go with our CFS. Lee picked mashed potatoes and I selected the French fries. A fresh tossed salad is included and it was fresh iceberg, chopped and garnished with diced tomatoes and topped with shredded cheddar with dressing of choice. We were in at about 12:45, so not many orders ahead of us and the meal came pretty quick. Everything was fresh and hot. The CFS looked just like the photos provided by the reviews on Google maps. A tenderized cut of round steak or similar cut, it was properly battered and deep fried in grease at the proper temperature to allow the crisped batter to remain adhered to the meat for consumption as a unified bite that was enhanced with a cream gravy that was a little on the thick side, but not so much so as to detract from the quality of the main attraction. The fries were of the frozen variety, but plentifully served hot and fresh. A small but appreciated touch was the shaker filled with Cajun seasoning on the table to add a little extra flavor to whatever you want to sprinkle it on. Buttered Texas toast accompanied the meal and while tasty enough, it was only partially consumed in favor of the desire to finish the rest of the meal. We were both too full to enjoy a dessert, but I brought a piece of the coconut cream pie home to my wife and she indicated that it was likely made on site with a graham cracker crust, homemade coconut filling and a whipped topping. I'm pretty sure you will be pleased with whatever you order here, but you won't miss with their Chicken Fried steak.

English What a wonderful Restaurant at Uncertain,Texas. Nice location, friendly staff, food fresh and view is beautiful. They have a lot of healthy options. This restaurant is located at Caddo lake in the street of Cypress. Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning to check out the hype about this place. When you come inside they welcome you and their costumer service is top notch. The view of the lake with fall color sky to bring in light and the cypress trees is the best part of this place. I had the number #1 on the menu and the biscuit is something to die for. I would recommend for anyone who willing to try new places because I felt like home with them and the waitress who attended us was very "momma caring attitude." Shady Glade have a pier stop to park your boat to have quick bite and refuel your boat. Also, rental cabin to sleep over the night if you get tired. Thank you Shady Glade for the warm welcome and fresh food. 😎😍🥞🥚☕ Español Qué maravilloso restaurante en Uncertain, Texas. Buena ubicación, personal amable, comida fresca y la vista es hermosa. Tienen muchas opciones saludables. Este restaurante está ubicado en el lago Caddo en la calle Cypress. Vine aquí para desayunar el sábado por la mañana para ver la exageración sobre este lugar. Cuando entras te dan la bienvenida y su servicio al cliente es de primera categoría. La vista del lago con cielo de color otoñal para traer luz y los cipreses es la mejor parte de este lugar. Tenía el número 1 en el menú y la galleta es algo para morirse. Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera que esté dispuesto a probar nuevos lugares porque me sentí como en casa con ellos y la camarera que nos atendió fue muy "actitud de cuidado de mamá". Shady Glade tiene una parada en el muelle para estacionar su bote para tener un bocado rápido y repostar su bote. Además, alquila cabaña para dormir durante la noche si te cansas. 5 stars If you’re anywhere near Caddo Lake, TX, do yourself a favor and stop at Shady Glade Café. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I’ve ever had—crispy edges, perfectly seasoned with a Cajun twist, and topped with rich, flavorful gravy. The sweet tea was ice-cold and just the right amount of sweet—true Southern comfort. This place was packed for a reason. The service is 10/10—super friendly, fast, and welcoming. You can tell the staff genuinely care. They had already sold out of their fried bologna special, which cracked me up—classic Southern vibes. Whether you’re visiting, fishing, or just passing through, Shady Glade Café is a must-visit for a great meal and even better hospitality.
