This Motel6 was a disgrace. We are evacuees from Florida and were looking for a reasonable place to stay. When arriving we were given a room on the second floor around the back side of the building (#219). The room was absolutely disgusting! We tried to just shake it off and deal with it. That was until we lifted the comforter off the bed to find it soaked. Not only was it drenched, but it was starting to grow mold from being left wet so long. I then went back down and asked to switch rooms again. I was graciously given another room #(217), to just walk into an even dirtier room that smelled horribly of smoke. I wasn't even comfortable putting my baby down on the bed. So I went down to the front office a third time to be told they don't do refunds, but offered us the new remodeled rooms that they had downstairs. They apologized yet again, and explained that they assumed we wanted a smoking room so that's why we were put in the back.
We moved into the newer room for 2 nights and it was very nice, other than the fact the plastic wrap was left on the mattress still from the delivery. I assume they were trying to make them last longer or something.
As I said earlier we are evacuees of the hurricane in Florida. On the second night of our stay, the hurricane was hitting our home and we heard there was flooding and still no power so we decided we needed to stay a few more nights.
We talked to a few people who seem to be long term residents who live there and were told that they had a week special for $250. So on the second night, I went to the office to book a full week so that we would have a place to stay until things cleared up at home. We were told no problem and they said we would have to check out and re check in the next day which was no problem.
The next morning I went to check out/in again and was greeted by the hotel owner who claimed we shouldn't have been in the newer rooms to begin with and the weekly rate wouldn't apply for us unless we wanted to be upstairs in the smoking rooms.
That was absolutely disgraceful and it felt like we were being taken advantage of because of the hurricane. It was complete price gouging. I assured her we weren't trying to move in full-time to the new rooms and that we had nowhere else to go.
So we took the kids and left. This location needs the health department and BBB called on them. It's horrifying that they represent your brand. I've never been picky about rooms but...
Read moreFor some reason the name is coming up as my daughters when reviewing BUT if it were possible to give this place a negative star rating to be sucked into a black hole, I would appreciate it. I broke down near the Motel 6 with my 6 month old baby. I was traveling from Indiana to Maryland. I explained to the front desk lady that my parents would be in from Indiana to pick me up later that day (I arrived at 3AM) but she made me pay for 2 days stay because check out was at 11AM no matter what. She was willing to throw me and my baby out into the cold at 11AM even though my parents were coming that afternoon. It took every cent I had and i sat in that room without food and I had no way of getting any because she broke me.
THEN the quality of the room was atrocious. I stayed in room 213 which was supposed to be non smoking, but it reeked of cigarettes and filth. There were holes and stains in the comforters, sheets, and pillows. The bath tub was YELLOW and there was hair all over that tub. I had to scrub that tub while a baby losing her mind because I had to get her in the bath. When people walk up and down the stairs it shakes the entire room and wakes everyone. The televisions are completely outdated. The knob for the temperature control on the fridge was removed so that you cannot make it any colder, and as a breastfeeding mother who pumps, my milk went bad and it was a struggle feeding my baby because the place is CHEAP and doesn't want to allow so much as a cold fridge.
My parents ended up showing up around 11PM that night because of a crash on 70 that stuck them in traffic. They took me to the Best Western less than 5 minutes away from the Motel 6. Pay the extra $20...
Read moreCliff Notes: This motel has bed bugs. Room 214 in particular, but I'm sure they're spread throughout.
Pros: Night clerk and morning clerk were very friendly and accommodating. The employees at the Wendy's across the street were super nice...I recommend to stop at this exit for the Wendy's, then get right back on I-70.
Cons: None of the rooms were properly prepped for occupation. We were told the rooms were non-smoking. 1st room smelled heavy of poorly masked smoke. Found a lighter under the sheets and burn holes in the bedding. We asked for a different room.
The A/C in the 2nd room did not work and it smelled even worse of smoke. We asked for a different room.
The 3rd room smelled less strongly of smoke but the A/C worked and it appeared clean and we didn't find any bedbugs, so we accepted. We had to ask for a new roll of toilet paper and a second towel. Cable TV didn't work, not a huge deal to us. The floors creaked, felt bad for the occupants of the underlying room. We slept well, but upon awaking, we found a bedbug on the side of one of the mattresses. This was room 214.
The clerks were basically doing damage control, managing tons of complaints from the residents. They weren't making up excuses...straight said they were receiving a ton of complaints and the manager was incommunicado. We were too tired to keep driving, but we should have slept in the car. We were told we were to receive a full refund and are...
