We were heading to||Hershey for a long weekend and to see a concert (Stevie Nicks- which, btw, was postponed AS the gates were opening- people were already tailgating for hours and had already heard the sound check…. But, that’s another story:))||I did some research and came across the information on this lovely hotel. I happen to be partial to Historic Hotels, Relais & Chateaux, Leading Hotels, etc so I decided we had to book the Inn at Leola. ||||We were warmly welcomed by the staff and told we had been upgraded. ||(Note: they have no porters or luggage carts, everyone must bring their bags to their rooms on their own- however, the property isn’t that large, parking is ample, barring a wedding going on, so it’s easily doable)||||They have a lovely pastry & coffee shop on premises to grab a morning bite. We enjoyed lattés, baked oats, yogurt parfaits, and delicious freshly baked pastries!||They also have a fine dining restaurant with a premier chef, but we didn’t get there on this trip- we will for sure next time!||The Inn is nestled in Amish Country, with each of the towns you will want to visit anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes driving distance.||The Inn also has a small pool area, just adorable, with a pool menu as well.||||Our upgraded room was huge and very rustic- we loved it! The bathroom had a huge European style open walk in stone tiled shower, toilet & bidet, and a very large 2 sink vanity (I hesitate to even call it a vanity because it was the length of one of the walls!) ||The room also had a gas fireplace which would be lovely in colder months!||The bed was very comfortable and the linens were clean and crisp white.||We had an ample supply of towels & washcloths as well as a few complimentary soaps & shampoos. (Sadly I couldn’t use any because they contained Shea which is a tree nut and I am severely allergic)||||I ordered some extras when I booked our room and they were excellent in regard to awareness of nuts when I had special requests.||I ordered a ½ dozen roses, a rose petal turndown, and champagne with a lovely plated crudités. ||The champagne was actually Prosecco (they need to fix that on their order sheet) but it was a nice one. I had asked for no nuts and placed a few extra special requests when ordering the crudités and they honored all of my requests very pleasantly! Literally every single request! They were fabulous! We very much appreciated the efforts on their behalf! The crudités plate was perfect!||||I always travel with Clorox wipes, Lysol, etc so as per my usual, I cleaned all doorknobs, remote controls, light switches, handles, etc because I’ve found rarely if ever do even the finest hotels instruct their cleaning staff to do that.||Here are my small caveats with this Inn: you cannot lock the bathroom door, should you so desire. ||AND ||My biggest caveat, the floors were really dirty. Not visibly upon looking, but, #1, our socks & slippers were super dirty/stained (we personally keep a shoe free home and steam clean our floors multiple times a week) #2) once the bathroom floor was all wet (the European style shower is open so a lot of the entire floor gets wet) the white bath mats plus a few extra towels we had to throw down were picking up the black dirt from the floors, as were our slippers, so there were dirty footprints & smudges all over on them. I was thinking what a “sin” their white towels were getting full of wet black stains. So, I’d suggest management get a solid cleaning service in to scrub/disinfect floors & tile and also to shampoo carpets.||One last thing- forgot to mention that the fridge in our room had an incredibly iced over freezer, so full of ice that ice cream we came back to our room with to eat later ended up being wasted because we couldn’t put it in the freezer. (Wish we had looked first- oh well) Because of the severe icing issue, the fridge part was running warmer than it should. I meant to let them know before we left but forgot until just now….||||That said, I’d 150% stay at The Inn at Leola again many more times! (and bring my shower flip flops lol) It is an absolutely lovely, charming and quaint Inn, rich with history and nestled in the heart of Amish...
Read moreFrom the beginning, our stay at the Inn at Leola Village was far from what it was written up to be. We stayed in one of the most expensive rooms - a whirlpool suite in the King Amos barn. Upon entering, we immediately noticed they had the A/C set very cold with the ceiling fan on high, for a 75 degree day. We adjusted it and noticed a damp smell right away. This smell permeated the room unless the temp stayed below 68 with the ceiling fan running. I was freezing the entire time and the dampness exacerbated my asthma. For any of you considering this room, ask to see photos of the toilet set up. No privacy. But you’re not shown that anywhere. AND - a real problem- was the SHOWER. Who the heck puts a shower INSIDE a JACUZZI - and to boot, the temperature adjustment outside the jacuzzi? This isn’t shown or mentioned anywhere. That’s insane! We aren’t handicapped- but we didn’t expect to have to climb in and out of a jacuzzi to take a shower. I have back problems and this was a MAJOR problem. Then there was a loud noise that kept disturbing us, coming from outside. Upon calling the ONE person at the front desk ever available- we received no response. My husband figured out what it was and told them finally to get on the roof and lubricate the weather vane. There was not enough hot water to take a bath, any of the four nights we were there. It started out warm then came out cold by the end. Our “breakfast to go” at $300+ per night was (1) hard boiled egg, a small muffin, a small clementine, a small Activia yogurt and coffee - which we had to ask them to refill 2 of 4 mornings we were there- along with the cream. And one morning- no egg. Pathetic.
The housekeeping staff just “forgot” to clean our room one night. The front desk said it was someone new and made excuses. Now that’s great customer service! Walls were thin - heard some interesting conversations next door And to top it off - and this really blew our minds- they had maybe 20? TV channels- playing the weirdest stuff. No news channels!!. We’ve never seen anything like it. We were so disgusted that we cut short what was supposed to be six (6) nights there to four (4) nights, and because of our lousy experience- they did refund us the last two nights They are desperately short on staff. That’s for sure. But for a place to call itself a resort of sorts is a joke. And importantly- for any of you looking for a relaxing and QUIET time at a “no children” resort- you will definitely NOT find that here. There were many children, in the restaurant and at the pool. We only wish we could report differently Kudos to Matt the restaurant manager- he was awesome. But Osteria Avanti was a mixed bag too. See separate review for this. One of the WORST hotel...
Read moreIf I could give The Inn At Leola Village ten stars I would. From the moment my husband and I walked on to the property we knew this was the place we were going to get married. This venue is like no other we had looked at the staff is some of the best I have ever seen in the industry. From the first day we contacted the venue for a tour Tara was amazing. She helped us every step of the way from the moment we signed the contract to the day of our wedding. She was always so quick to respond to emails and answer questions, she gave great advice and helped us plan the most magical wedding. This venue was so helpful and always willing to compromise. The food was out of this world. I have honestly never been to a wedding before where EVERYONE said the food was incredible but our guests wouldn’t stop raving about how amazing it was, to this day we are still getting compliments. My cake turned out better than I imagined and my flowers….omg the flowers! Tracy was THE BEST! I came to our planning meeting with only a few photos not really knowing what I wanted, but she turned a few ideas into masterpieces. The centerpieces were beautiful and my bouquet was breathtaking. She even worked with me to make multiple modifications to my floral proposal to help get our costs down. AND the day of the wedding there was miscommunication and only one maid of honor bouquet was made but she ran right down to her shop and had another to us in less than 20 mins. Aaron the hotel manager was also wonderful. He was always so responsive when we needed help modifying our hotel room block or checking in to see who had booked. The day of the wedding we had to modify a few things and the staff was so accommodating. We had a relative that had to leave early for health reasons and they boxed up his dinner for him. We had quite a large wedding and made quite a mess but the staff kept smiles on their faces and did everything they could to make our day the best it could be. I only have ONE complaint and for anyone who is Italian BEWARE. The Limoncello shot that is served after dinner is NOT real Limoncello. The Menu you get when planning your food leads you to believe it is but it is actually just a sugary, non-alcoholic lemon sorbet shooter. I had many guests that were disappointed about this since we told everyone to expect Limoncello. But if that’s the worst thing, I’ll take it. I am completely satisfied otherwise and I highly recommend planning your wedding here! Thank you to everyone who helped make our day magical, we are...
