UPDATE: THE HOUSEKEEPER STOLE MY DRESS!! My dress was found thanks to Detective Sergeant Morabito with the Utica Police! The GM Jeff swore up & down what wonderful, truthful employees he has & he's been in this business for 35 years so he can usually spot a sketchy worker right off the bat! Thankful I filed a police report & kept pushing for answers or I would've never seen my dress again. Apparently, your clothing just goes missing!!! I was so excited to give this place a 5 star review, BUT here we are. I checked in 7/14/19 around 1 or 1:30am after my best friends wedding wearing my bridesmaid dress. Went up to the room & changed as we were planning to go to Red Ox Tavern. I hung the dress on one of the provided hangers & put it in the closet (which, if you haven't stayed here before, was a sliding door mirror tucked away near the bathroom). Got down to the lobby to meet the rest of the group & they decided a few of them would just go grab some mcdonalds. We ate, went back up to the room & went to bed. Got up at 9:30am, put on a t-shirt & jeans, went down to the lobby & ate breakfast. Went back up to the room, packed up & went up to the bride & groom's room. Then we went down to the lobby & checked out. We rode back to their house with them since my car was at their house & we were dropped at the hotel by shuttle from the reception. We stayed at their house for awhile to relax before driving home. On the way home about 2pm, I realized I completely forgot to grab my dress out of the closet. Yes, I should have double checked, but forgot all about it since I was exhausted & the closet is hidden away. I actually believed there was no closet until I searched harder & found it the first time. I called the hotel & they told me they'd send someone up to get it. I was on m53 already, so I arrived probably 5 or so minutes after speaking with the receptionist who then tells me that a crew member went up to look for my dress, but found nothing. She offered to take me up & help look again if it would make me feel better. I agreed. We went up & checked, but no dress. I noticed the room had been cleaned as well (makes sense since it was about 2:15pm & check in is at 3pm). I checked my bag in their parking lot hoping I was just so tired I forgot I shoved it in my bag (which I would never just crumple up a $200 dress & put it in a bag, but I thought maybe?) No dress. I called corporate & spoke with a rep who called the hotel & had reception check again & then filed a case with a supervisor. Followed up 7/15/19 with another corporate supervisor who reached out to the hotel. She spoke with GM Jeff & he said he would do a key log audit. He didn't work the weekend so he knew nothing about the situation & the weekend cleaning crew was gone since it was Monday. I filed a police report after work on 7/15/19. Got an email today, 7/16/19, from GM Jeff. The email stated that maintenance entered the room to look for the dress, then a gallery host, then the cleaning crew to clean the room. I went up to the room with the receptionist after the room had been cleaned. Maintenance checked just before I arrived. Key logs dont add up & my $200 dress is still missing. He assured me in the email that all of these workers are trustworthy as they've been with the hotel for years, but how did maintenance check for my dress, a gallery host & then housekeeping clean the room in the 5 minutes between my phone call & arrival to get the dress. Honestly, the beds were comfy, workers were friendly & the breakfast was good, just dont forget anything in the room or it's definitely gone. $200 & the priceless memories of the bridesmaid dress I wore to my best friend of 20 years wedding & maid of honor speech I gave. I am SO displeased at how this situation was handled. Lesson learned. IF I ever stay at another Hyatt, I'll make sure never to hang any article of clothing ever again & just pull my clothes out of my bag/suitcase & put them right back in the...
Read moreMy wife and I chose to use this wedding as 1.) A place for me to stay the night before my wedding & a separate space for my groomsmen to get ready the day of our wedding, and 2.) A place for my wife and me to stay for our wedding night since it was the nicest looking hotel near our reception venue. We could not have made a bigger mistake - this place is awful and I would strongly recommend that no one stay here unless you have to; certainly do not trust them for anything important.
The first thing that happened was that when I arrived & was unloading my stuff from my car to my room, I noticed that there were 3 teen boys playing baseball in the parking lot - with a real ball, right outside the front door. Sure enough within 10 seconds I heard a loud thump - they hit a car with an errant throw... Stunned that they would not even try to monitor their own property I went to the front desk and informed the attendant what was going on. She walked outside without saying a word in response.
Fast forward to the wedding day, the guys and I used our room to get ready/take pictures first thing and then left in the morning. After a VERY long day (which, luckily {but unrelated} went wonderfully) we returned to the hotel at roughly 2 AM to find that the room had not been cleaned - at all. We had not been disrespectful or trashed the place, but there were 5 guys and a toddler in there for a few hours and we had food, drinks, used towels, etc. Nothing had been done. I went to the front desk to ask what had happened; we did not leave the privacy tag on the door when we left as I found it on the desk when we entered the room, and we left with plenty of time in the morning/afternoon for the room to be checked on.
I had to wait about 10 minutes to speak with the front desk attendant (because even at 2 AM, there was yet ANOTHER bride that was yelling at the employees because her reservation for her wedding party had been botched). After explaining the situation, I was told that there was nothing that they could do to accommodate me - they had no spare rooms, and no one in housekeeping was still there (she could not do it because it was "not her job"). After some pressing, I realized that they were completely ambivalent to my situation and simply asked for my reservation to be cancelled and said we would just drive home... at now approaching 3 AM. They refunded me for the 2nd night of my stay - and that was all. They offered no other consolation or discount/comp for the awful experience on one of the most important days of our lives, aside from an insincere apology.
We received a survey email days later, and we completed it while referring to the information in this review - we received a cookie cutter apology email from one of the assistant managers a few days later that did absolutely nothing to address our situations (it was clearly just a template that had the names & dates switched out). I replied and let them know that cookie cutter apology templates with not a single sincere word or gesture included did nothing but make them look even more uncaring and lacking of empathy... My family and I will certainly not ever stay at a Hyatt hotel as long as we live - I strongly recommend that you all...
Read moreLet's be honest with each other here. While checking in I was told the pool will be closed, well where was that information while checking in? This wasn't a surprise poop in the pool this was a 2 week maintenance) * see photo... That's not a very honest way of doing business when you buy a product that is broken its in the discount bin but I was charged full price for my stay?
So its my turn at honesty...
They basically offer 2 room options 1 king bed or 2 double beds. Think twice about that if you are travelling with more than 2 adults.
The beds were really soft some people might not find that very comfortable.
We found the pillows chunky and way too puffy.
I could hear the hwy traffic from the room, if you are sensitive to noise may I suggest you ask for a room with a Sam's Club view.
The room has a nice swivel large TV so you can watch it from the bedroom side or the seating area side.
The room doesn't offer a safe so if you are there on business with a laptop, travel with a tablet, passports or other valuables and you don't want to take them out to dinner, shopping or into the city you have some options.. Ask the front desk to hold them? Hide them in the room? Hide them in your vehicle? Travel safe.
The beds face the bathroom sink so if you are up later or earlier than who ever you are sharing your room with, you will either shine a light on them or you could wake them up with what ever you are doing in the sink.
Breakfast is boring its like they went with the something for everyone approach but they didn't want to disappoint anyone either so the food is bland and has very little taste.
I have known this hotel since the early 2000s and its lost that feels just a bit nicer than the other similar choices it used to have. I guess age is catching up and the newer hotels are doing it better than Hyatt is renovating this property as time ticks on. Time for me to move on as well and find a new location on my next visit to the...
